For long term I believe one should see their Concept behind them. Like Ethereum and all other famous Altcoins have. One of the best Ico which is going on now is signals they are going to play with Data science in entirely different way. So I believe one should have such coins with them before it leaves your hand.

you just need to find and analyze it
I think you better try to get involved directly on the search for your investment. there are many altcoins that can be profitable within a few months. but depends on your level of knowledge and experience. so you should try to dig it up, this is great for future experience

To be honest I don't understand why lots of us are saying that almost each coin in the top 10 or 20 will be good investments. There are lots of coins outside the top 20, which will be in the top 20 or maybe even the top 10 at the end of the year. So some in the coins here will loose their marketcap spot. (I know that this doesn't mean that they will write red figures but still)

I rather have that the topic poster, already made a shortlist and ask advice, which would be the best coins.
Now it always look that these posters are trying to profit from the research from others, and maybe stupidly enough will invest in these coins blindly. Not that this matters to me cause it is their money!

But hey that's my 2 cents!

Invest in ISO, reinforced by something real, not just promises.
There are different projects that will actually bring monthly money, for example ICO associated with mining, like an Envion.

Ripple? I would definitely go with it, just a no-brainer for me.

Additionally, I would vote for security-related project/coins as well as for projects that somehow dealt with pollution/lack of electricity.

For surely gaining profit in a long term of holding, I'll go for Bitcoin and Eth because it is proven and it won't disappoint you. You may check also those coins that are in low volume and in cheap price, considering that their price will go higher than of going down. But for me, I'm a little bit worried of having a long term investment because market today are high volatile which is definitely unpredictable market trend. And possible that some coins may disappear or becoming dead cause of having a lot of coins created every now and then.

For the long term, I think the top 5 (maybe 10) are all safe investments. If you wait for at least a year, you're pretty much guaranteed profit there.
