I would love to accept Bitcoin as a birthday gift obviously. That means you are helping someone to use or know about the digital currency system which have a bright future. I hope your friend also surprised by receiving Bitcoin as a birthday gift.

Is Bitcoin a perfect birthday present for a 25 years old college student? I want to surprise a friend, he is facing a lot of challenges due to his studies and he likes Bitcoin but can't afford investing money because of his studies since he is sponsoring himself, we've been together since 2011 and his birthday is on 27th of this month, do you think 0.03BTC is a cool present 🎁 for a birthday.

Would you love to accept Bitcoin as a Birthday Gift?
Yeah that could be super cool if Know what is Bitcoin and crypto. Because if he do not knows crypto than it might be super clumsy for him. So if he do not know than just teach him how to do such things. So he might make some fortune from this birthday gift.
Are you planning to give him 1000 dollars or more or less in Bitcoin?

It's past your friends birthday I know, but hey, bringing this up here wasn't necessary if you ask me because, you've said first, your friend has interest in Bitcoin, second, he is passing through some financial crisis which means he's in need of help.

I want to believe you gifted him though, cause that's the best decision to have taken.
Thank you, we need more of your kind in our world today, we shouldn't wait until hardships or difficulties take the life of the ones we claim to love, help in any little way you can.

It was a birthday present, not that he wanted to help the poor or those in financial difficulty. If you have a problem in life, you should focus on finding a solution, not expecting someone to help you. If someone helps you, it's a blessing, but don't wait and find a solution.

Why do we still need to have threads like this? I mean what can we help for your "surprise gift" from your friend?

It has been weeks since the OP has posted this thread. Is there any update with the surprise that he made to his friend? Did he really do it or backed out on the final minute because he saw that 0.03 Bitcoin was too much for him to give. Cheesy Anyway, I think any give as long as it isn't harmful towards the receiver is always a good thing to do especially to your close friend.

I'm thinking of doing it in the future as well. To whom? I still don't know, but when I see somebody and I know that he/she is involved in crypto or at least has knowledge, I will give some to him/her.

You are free to present bitcoin to your friend as a gift, inasmuch as your friend understand how it's being used or have been active on recent happening around the globe concerning bitcoin then there's nothing stopping you. Well I would also want to receive a gift as bitcoin, you know what it means for someone that has been admiring to own bitcoin but since some circumstances surrounding him couldn't allowed him to venture into it would turned out to be a very big pleasant surprise to him.

Would you love to accept Bitcoin as a Birthday Gift?
This is a perfect and best surprise from a friend to a friend. Gifting a bitcoin to someone who like it is an amazing gift ever. I would rather accept bitcoin as a birthday gift than cake, clothes or shoes because it will profit me in the long run I will just hold forever. Surprising a friend who wish to invest in bitcoin but dont have money to invest with bitcoin is like a dream come through. He will never forget that gift. Because in years to come he will be benefiting from the gift. Who's going to gift me Bitcoin?

Is Bitcoin a perfect birthday present for a 25 years old college student? I want to surprise a friend, he is facing a lot of challenges due to his studies and he likes Bitcoin but can't afford investing money because of his studies since he is sponsoring himself [...] do you think 0.03BTC is a cool present 🎁 for a birthday.

I believe that such gift is very valuable and, most of all, it will help him a lot to face the struggles of finishing his studies (buying books, paying the tax for studies etc.). So excepting the fact that such gift is useful also for Bitcoin itself -- after all, it will represent another user enrolled in the system -- it will also be very helpful for your friend.

I, for one, decided to make a small contribution each year for my son. Since he was born I decided to buy each year around 250$ in BTC and leave it inside a wallet until he will turn 18. At that age, in my country, he should have finished high school and (if he wishes) be eligible to go to a university. State universities have very few free spots and there are small chances to get a free spot. However, there are many private universities and even private spots at State universities. Tuition tax is smaller compared to western countries, yet for us it's a lot. I believe that this amount, collected for 18 years (so it should be ~4500$ in BTC), will help him pay for a part of his studies. Of course, if BTC value will soar in this time, then this amount should be enough for helping him pay also for Master and, why not?, for Ph.D. studies, if he'll be interested in going so far.

So, as you see, I am also sharing your idea, OP, the only difference between us being the fact that I will offer my gift much, much later than you.

his birthday is on 27th of this month

So what did you do in the end? Did you give him 0.03BTC? If yes, what was his reaction?

I think this is a very unique birthday gift for a friend he will surely love it and he will be thankful to you 0.03 btc is a huge amount there is a lot of things that we can buy on that amount if we convert it to fiat. So for me its a big yes i am sure this time if you already give him he is now very happy.

Few days back the birthday have got over and there is no update from OP, whether his friend got surprised or not. The initiative taken by OP is good, because his friend isn't in a situation to invest. On the other side he knows about bitcoin and he likes it. Surely anyone will easily gets surprised when we receive things that we've been watching for long.

Most of the users were waiting for the response from OP, whether he gifted or no? Next question, did his friend got surprised?

If you want to surprise you friend, giving him bitcoin is not the best way to surprise. That is just like giving money. If you give him cash and he buys bitcoin. The outcome will be the same - he has got an investment, you gave him a present. So this is not a surprise. You can only surprise him with something extraordinary as a present, or by the amount you give. For example if you pay for his studies, he would be surprised 100%. But the idea of a Bday present is that what you give, but that you give a present in general. That shows that you care, dont forget abou him and give him attention, and the present can be anything. Even a rock in a box.

Not really, the outcome may be the same but the feelings won't be.  Just think about a situation where you really like something, then a friend of yours gift the things you like most to you, what would you feel?  I bet you will be more excited and happy than receiving cash to buy the thing you like.  The emotion is more intense if the thing you like most is given to you directly than cash.

if I was your friend then I would be very happy with your gift. Well, by now, you should have given the gift, and I was wondering how he would react when he received bitcoins from you.
After all, quite a lot of positive effects from the gift. you are not only giving him a gift, but also an investment, or encouragement to get to know bitcoin or invest in the digital world. it is a very good gift, especially if he knows about bitcoin beforehand.

Same here, if someone gave me BTC, I will be delighted because receiving BTC as a gift is a very rare event.

I think that most likely anyone here would tell you that they would have loved to have received a gift of Bitcoin at any age. We are after all, all Bitcoiners here.

But if I had to put aside my Bitcoin fanaticism, I would say that most 25 year olds would love something that goes with the times and is valuable. Bitcoin without doubt fulfills both of those categories. And you yourself will have created another Bitcoiner who helps us push the adoption of BTC along!

I see no negative sides here. Well, other than him losing his money if he foolishly gambles or trades it away. But I am sure a 25 year old has more sense than that.
To add to your contribution,
Like you said, anyone on this forum would say yes to receiving bitcoin as a birthday gift, but then also, if were to try to put our legs in the shoes of those who are not yet bitcoiners, and probably don't even know what bitcoin is, I would say that, using their birthday to bring the knowledge of bitcoin to them is a great idea, but as we are gifting them some bitcoins, they would appreciate our gift the more if we find a physical gift, no matter how small, to attach to the bitcoin gift.
That physical gift will serve as what they will be remembering us for, pending when they gains full knowledge of what bitcoin truly is and how valuable it is as a gift, this is when they would finally come to the realization of what mighty thing, we have actually done for them even when they knew it now.
And I tell you, nothing can be more pleasing and fulfilling than this experience..

Yes, I will be very glad receiving Bitcoin as a birthday gift, because I'm already a Bitcoin lover and knows the importance and value of Bitcoin, as a long term and best investment for the future. And on that note I will love to ask you O.P some few questions regarding the birthday gift you intended to give your friend, as 27th February have already pass.
1. How was the birthday, were you able to successfully gift your friend the Bitcoin?
2. Where there any challenges you encounter and will love to share to us on the forum?
3. What's your advice on whoever wishes to follow suit on giving Bitcoin as birthday gift?

yes the present will be very helpful for him but if he have some knowledge about it. It does not necessarily help someone without information regarding this. If he knows about bitcoin that how to handle it and how to take it according to the circumstances of crypto then instead of this gift there is nothing which will make him happy.

Almost every person wants bitcoin as a source of money but not everyone can get money through investment in Bitcoin. Buying bitcoin and having bitcoin does not matter but reap benefits from bitcoin matters a lot. The way you think about your friends and wants to help him is appreciable and the gift you offer to him as a birthday gift is unique and it will be really useful and helpful if it is properly use.

Well i am trying to understand this whole bitcoin as a gift thing and for I Dont really see this idea as a welcoming one. As you have already stated he is a student and onething i know students for, is always spending cash and gifting someome bitcoin isn't really a bad idea but in this your case, i just feel that money you gifted as bitcoin would have been given as maybe fiat currency since you said he is the one sponsoring himself at school and my reason being that he can't hold that btc since he/she constantly needs to spend the bitcoin since he is still studying.
It is op choice to offer him bitcoin as gift , it is up to the receiver to spend it or to invest it. Bitcoin is still a currency that people still spend to buy things, their might be some reason best to OP why he choose giving bitcoin to a friend. Even if the friend of OP is unable to hodl bitcoin, I'm very sure he will feel so happy having a currency like bitcoin,  the new innovation of money . Receiving a gift like bitcoin will even make him to develop dip interest to have bitcoin. There are good advantages for him to receive bitcoin as a gift.

We forgot one detail, OP said that his friend really likes bitcoin, but because of difficult economic conditions, he can't invest. I believe his friend will be very happy to receive a gift of bitcoin because it is his long-time wish, it is really a very meaningful gift. In case OP's friend sells those bitcoins because life is hard, then no need to be sad. After all, once we gave it to him, it was already in his possession, he could do anything with it.
