Is Bitcoin a perfect birthday present for a 25 years old college student? I want to surprise a friend, he is facing a lot of challenges due to his studies and he likes Bitcoin but can't afford investing money because of his studies since he is sponsoring himself, we've been together since 2011 and his birthday is on 27th of this month, do you think 0.03BTC is a cool present 🎁 for a birthday.

Would you love to accept Bitcoin as a Birthday Gift?
The best birthday gifts is always a hard choice to make, but with your friends interest, Bitcoin is the best gift.
As long as he has some knowledge and has shown how ready he is to delve into it, you might just be surprised how successful he would be, once he starts putting his knowledge to work. This can also be known as angel investment.
I would love to receive Bitcoin as a birthday gift, mostly as I know how its benefit pays well.

That is huge, and for sure he will appreciate it a lot, but my question is, how would you give it to him? Like, you just asked his wallet address? It would be great if you gave him a ledger with bitcoin on it, as it is safer than using exchanges. I don't know what you will use, but whether you choose local wallets or not, it is still good as long as both of you know the security risks so that your friend can't get hacked easily.

I think he will be happy. Crypto is the perfect gift because your friend can sell it OR hold it until it will be 100k+. So yeah, you are a great friend and it's a great present.

yes sure, I will keep it until your birthday come and wait until btc rise and the value same as you give it to me. But I don't know in the future, because I'm still a student, there must be more important things where should i sell my btc.
what do you mean about that? in question you are the one who will be accepting bitcoin as gift mate and not about we giving it.

Also, what kind?, collectibles, paper wallet or what?. because it's an important thing also, If your friend like collectible like lealana, Casascius and etc, maybe he won't sell it even have important thing in his school.
maybe he will be directly send the bitcoin into a wallet address? and we are not sure because about the one who will receive that bitcoin seems to be in money issues nowadays so selling that bitcoin maybe into his mind as he does not experience how bitcoin is more profitable in long term.

How many times that there is a post similar to this about giving Bitcoin as a Bday present and the replies mostly the same ,  that who would deny receiving bitcoin(as you mentioned that he already knew about this and love having)?
and also if you are only to accept, no matter what it is then you must be thankful because remember that it is the thought that counts when you receive a gift.

Anything at all is a perfect birthday gift as long as it's coming from your heart. Only an ungrateful person would be unsatisfied with the gift that was given to them on their birthday and with what you have said about your friend I think he's going to appreciate the gift but I doubt if he's going to hodl for long judging from the fact that you said he's going through some difficulties due to him sponsoring himself, so it's very likely that he's going to sell the coin but that shouldn't be your business anymore after all it's a gift and he has all right to do whatever pleases him. Btw happy birthday to your friend in advance, I wish him the grace to be successful academically, financially and emotionally.

Remembering that your friend also wants to invest in bitcoin but as you said he has not been able to invest in bitcoin because of his studies. then of course there is no doubt that your friend will be very happy to receive it. and 0.03BTC is quite a number.
even a person who doesn't know about bitcoin before then accepts bitcoin in this amount then he will be very happy and maybe will turn into a bitcoin lover. because he will remember the happy moment when he received a gift in the form of bitcoin.

it's been a while since I last received a birthday present. maybe when I was little. and I remember that time I received a simple birthday gift. and that makes me very happy.

a birthday gift doesn't matter what it contains, it doesn't matter if it's cheap or whatever. as long as it is given sincerely to us then I think it will make us happy. because I know how it feels like no one at all remembers our birthday. so believe your friends will be touched by what you present. because he will even be moved to tears because you remember his birthday.

now times have advanced, and if you intend to give bitcoin as a birthday gift to your friend I think this is good progress.
because people rarely give birthday gifts in the form of bitcoins.
and of course your friends will be happy when they receive a hardware wallet containing bitcoins from you.

Definitely a cool present. 0.03 BTC now is a lot for some people and you would know how much it is important to your friend once you gave it to him. I'm curious about your friend if he knows anything about BTC already and would like to continue and HODL more.

You should consider getting them a funded wallet/cold storage item.  Either maybe like a pre-funded OPENDIME  ( https://opendime.com/ ) , or perhaps something even cooler like a bitcoin collectible.  Basically you can buy a fancy cold storage paper wallet.  Here's a lot with a cool collectible https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.61792917 .  These chips are funded with .001BTC each.  Now it's not a lot of bitcoin, but they have a lot of value in collectability and your friend might find them pretty cool (especially if they are a collector or more specifically a coin collector).

if you want to give a birthday present to your friend, of course there is no problem, especially since he already knows the name bitcoin, so surely he will appreciate it and will definitely feel happy.
and I personally too, if someone wants to give bitcoin as a gift on my birthday, of course I will gladly accept it.

That a hefty amount of money if you convert it to us dollars and yes anyone would love to accept bitcoin a gift.
Your friend knows about bitcoin and don't have enough money to buy bitcoin so he would be very happy if you gift him 0.03 bitcoin as a birthday gift. You can order a hard wallet and deposit the bitcoins and gift him that on his birthday. A perfect day for anyone who loves bitcoin.

That's a generous gift no one would refuse that amount.

There's no problem with your plan and that's impressive, gift cards or hardware wallet that has Bitcoin inside is a good gift and those who receive them will surely be surprised.  I'm sure your friend will never forget this unique gift of yours, but also an opportunity to dive deeper into the world of crypto and explore many ways in which it can be utilized to enhance their financial portfolio.  Who knows since your friend already had knowledge of Bitcoin, he can able to manage to grow his portfolio through trading.

Well, good luck.

It depends on the person who would receive it, there are some people who would like to receive money on their Birthdays some would prefer a real present like how it was before.
But you already mention that your friend is into crypto but doesn't have enough money to invest  just on that note you should already know the answer to your question.
Base on your words I think it wouldn't just be money for him it is something that could start up his crypto journey and somehow change shis life.

I think this thread is irrelevant. You claim to generously want to gift your friend 0.03BTC. Go ahead and do it. You really don’t need to be nudged on by forum members if you truly want to do it.

You mentioned he likes and is also interested in bitcoin. If he likes and is interested in bitcoin, then perhaps you need more than forum members to convince you that it’s a great gift for your friend.

Would I love to accept bitcoin as a birthday gift?
I would assume that about 90% of members registered on this forum either likes, has, hoping to have or is interested in bitcoin. So I would say your question is redundant.

0.03 BTC is equivalent to around ~$740 in today's BTC price. Not only your friend would feel ecstatic, but this would definitely give him the inspiration and relief over the problems and conflicts he currently have. Heck, if I received that much BTC, I would definitely be overjoyed with your generosity and kindness!

This kind of donation and gift is something that I would like to receive one day, but I doubt that would happen. My family members are not that familiar with cryptocurrencies given its technicalities. Though that may be the case, I guess the greatest birthday gift that I could ask for is for the price of BTC to increase beyond my initial investments!

Surely the friend will enjoy the surprise gift. The friend would never be expecting such a gift and when an unexpected gift is received in the form of what we've been looking for months is a big surprise. I request OP to go for it and post the response from your friend on seeing the birthday gift. Surely this birthday is gonna be unforgettable for him.

Generally I think it's a great idea, however, given the circumstance you are describing your friend in it could be problematic If he is struggling with money currently. He might be tempted to cash out these 0.03 or maybe cash it out within the next bull-run period and then regret it later.
You could look into timelock transactions for Bitcoin, and maybe lock up the BTC for 3 or 5 years to come.
Still, if you have the money to make such a gift, it's always great to introduce someone who doesn't have the capacity to do so by themselves right now.
Given the condition he’s in, OP’s friend will definitely be cashing out at least part of the $700+ to sort his immediate challenges. In the normal sense when you gift someone a something, you give total control of that thing to the person. I don’t think a setting a timelock on the bitcoin is ideal because it may become a turmoil for a person who needs money urgently to take care of his needs.
