In my country, groceries like bread, meat, milk, cheese, and eggs have increased causing hardship particularly for lower-income households and overall economies. One of the reasons I think this is happening is there have been disruptions in global food markets due to planting season disruptions. To cope with the rising cost, if it is not super essential, I do not buy it. I have cut down on bread and replaced it with fruits and vegetables. Eating out is now once per week with friends if it is so important. There are a lot of other stuff that I do to save money too.
Perhaps each country will have its own difficulties. In my country, especially in the countryside where I live, fruits and vegetables are more expensive than things like bread, eggs, and milk. I guess each region's food needs are different.
But in general, even though inflation lasted for nearly 2 years, the people of my village did not encounter too many difficulties because they could produce their own goods such as rice, eggs, and vegetables...I'm not saying their prices haven't increased, but in my opinion they haven't increased significantly.
maybe in your place they really could fulfill the people's needs through local agriculture and the likes, its different in the city though, inflation was so rampant, after the pandemic it just getting even worse.
nowadays we've lost 30% of purchasing value compared to before pandemic, that already show how significant the inflation is.
though I might argue that it might not be entirely because of pandemic itself, but it may acts as some kind of catalyst that further drives the inflation.
but at the end of the day we just really in dire need of increasing the value of ourselves as well as having more income.
otherwise our purchasing power will just plummet and decreased as the time goes.
