That performance cannot be called poor. The best word to describe Srilanka's performance in the final is pathetic. They created that pitch on which MD Shiraz took 6 wickets, they did not understand the home conditions and were batting like amateurs. Their under-19 team would have played better than the national team.
Wasim Akram would not have given the same statement if India had lost. Pakistan is unable to digest how they were thrashed by Srilanka first and then how India thrashed Srilanka in the final. Such statements have been constantly bombarded by Pakistani excricketers and it does not matter to anyone in India or the Indian players. Already there has been a catfight between Pakistani players in the dressing room as per Pakistani media. If a team cannot work like a team and has to fight within themselves, do you expect them to win matches?
@pakhittheboss I felt that Srilankan player’s let themselves down by taking on too much pressure and I’m shocked that Wasim said this considering he’s yet well received in the Indian cricket fraternity.
Furthermore Pakistan is definitely in a mess heading into the World Cup as there’s rumour of them changing their vice captain and they have already lost a key bowler hence I feel that they won’t do well in the upcoming World Cup. Lastly I hope that Wasim again doesn’t blame Pakistan poor performance due to the above mentioned reasons on some hidden arrangement between PCB and BCCI.
Strange I did not see Wasim Akram talking about a fix. If he did then he would be missed in the commentary box in the World Cup. What @pakhitheboss said is actually trues. If India had lost the finals then he would talked about the flaws in Indian team. I have seen in the past that it is not that easy for Pakistani ex-cricketer to believe India is dominating over their existing team. How can they as they were the ones in their time who dominated every India vs Pakistan match.
How bad things have become bad for Pakistan can be seen by the performance of the present team. Things are not looking good for Pakistan in the upcoming world cup.
