Australia played brilliantly in the match against the Netherlands and recorded their biggest win margin in terms of runs in their 48-year World Cup history. They took the Netherlands bowling attack to the cleaners. De Leede recorded the most expensive spell by a bowler in ODI cricket history, giving away 115 runs in his 10-over spell. David Warner looked in good touch as well. Australia has skyrocketed their net run rate, and the only chance for England and Pakistan to catch up with Aus is to win all their matches, and Australia loses a couple of their matches, which seems impossible. So, I think we have our semi-finalists finalized halfway in the tournament.

Dutch bowling completely broke down during the last few overs. De Leede was bowling full-tosses again and again, and some of them were called as no-balls. The other bowlers were not that better either. Van Beek and Van Meekeren both conceded too many runs towards the end. I have a feeling that they should have rather used the spinners (van der Merwe or Aryan Dutt). And then while batting they couldn't even make a three digit total. It was quite embarrassing to watch the performance from Netherlands, and that too in a major tournament such as the ICC World Cup.

Australia is winning by a huge margin of 309 runs against the Netherlands. After losing the first two matches of the 2023 World Cup, the Australian team has returned to a great rhythm. Back-to-back World Cup 2023 records No team has won a World Cup by a margin of 309 runs, a record previously held by Australia in the 2015 World Cup against Afghanistan by 265 runs. Australia won by 265 runs against Afghanistan, a record that no other team could break in the World Cup. 2023 World Cup they set a new record again. Glenn Maxwell scored a century in just 40 balls and he looked like Glenn Maxwell was playing a T20 game.

This has been one of the peculiarities of the Australian team for a while. Usually they get a poor start to major championships, but then get better as the tournament progresses. This time also the same happened. They lost to both India and South Africa at the start, but now they have three consecutive wins (against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Netherlands). But the big challenge is coming next, as they will face their arch-rivals New Zealand. Australia has limited space for maneuverability. They need to win at least 3 out of the remaining 4 matches in order to qualify for the semi finals.

England takes on Srilanka today at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The pitch is know to help spin bowling. I think Srilanka might get an upper edge over England here. Which ever team win the toss would choose to bat first as the pitch tends to become slower as the match progresses. The betting odds shows England as the favourite today.

Betting Odds

England - 1.31
Sri Lanka - 3.55

Do you guys think Srilanka can win today or England has the upper edge?
The toss is very important in today's match between England and Sri Lanka. For the team that bats in the second innings, it will be very difficult to bat because the wicket usually gets a bit slower in the second innings and the spin bowlers have an added advantage on slow wickets. Sri Lanka have some important spinners who can play a vital role in today's match. Sri Lanka can make eleven today with three fast bowlers and three spinners. England and Sri Lanka have won just one match each in the first four matches so any team that loses today will have to win today to stay in contention for the semi-finals, making it very difficult for them to make it to the semi-finals. England will be ahead in terms of team performance but if they want to bat extra aggressively they can lose their wickets there and the match will go in favor of Sri Lanka.

I don't think any match of this World Cup is bowling-friendly. A check of the pitch report suggests that the pitch might help the bowlers a bit. But in the last match played on this pitch we saw 672 runs. Australia managed to collect 367 runs and Pakistan 305 runs. And so I would not say that the pitch is bowling-friendly. Batsmen must play well if they want to win on this pitch.

The performance of Sri Lankan batsmen is better than that of England batsmen in this World Cup. England's batsmen have suddenly lost form in the World Cup. And their performance is very disappointing. England's batsmen must play carefully against the Sri Lankan bowlers. Hope we will see the victory of England in today's match.

If the margin of victory between one team and another team in the World Cup tournament is so much, then how is the attraction of the game. I think the Australian fans themselves were not happy with the result of the match between Netherlands and Australia yesterday because it didn't feel like a World Cup tournament match at all. If there is no excitement in the game, if there is no interest in every moment, then watching the game is a waste of time. In the first few matches of the World Cup, 90% of the matches may have been won by one team by a large margin. If there is so much difference between one team and another then ICC should have organized the game in specific groups.

ICC schedules matches in a way that every team plays against rest 1 time, I see nothing wrong with that, so particulars can prove themselves against the competition and deservings move on to the group stage.

Regarding poor performance of Netherlands, they probably succumed to pressure, same happened with Bangladesh in their match against SA. Netherlands ought to have captured the Maxwell's catch, otherwise rest of their fielding was better.

Really pathetic performance from the Netherlands. When they managed to defeat South Africa, a lot of people were praising them and were asking the ICC to provide more opportunities for the associate nations. But today's defeat was so embarrassing that this is not just a setback for the Dutch but also for the associate nations as a whole. The ICC on the other hand has got the perfect example to exclude associates from future events. There is no justification for their poor performance today. It was just plain horrible.
If fans or different stakeholders want an 18-24 team World Cup in the near future then everyone should be ready to witness loop sided contests as well.

It would look bad and at times a waste of resources but in the long run it's good for the overall health of cricket and arguably the only way.

We can't expect much from them, they did their best, and expecting them to win against big teams every match is too much in my opinion. Their brilliance will inspire more people to play the game, so over the next few years they will have a complete side to beat the other side.

Yes, it's pathetic performance, but they showed they can beat a team like SA too so that they will embrace for a while.

Australia dominated the Netherlands with a record-breaking performance, securing a biggest victory by 309 runs. Australian batting display was led by David Warner formidable century 104(93) and an extraordinary innings by Glenn Maxwell, who scored 106 the fastest century 40 balls in World Cups, devastating the Netherlands  bowlers. Maxwell onslaught, particularly against Bas de Leede, resulted in the most expensive bowling figures in ODI history. Australia posted a commanding 399/8. the Netherlands facing an imposing target of 400, and only manage to Scored 90 all out. Adam Zampa exceptional bowling took 4 wickets for 8 runs, played a crucial role in the Australia win.

England takes on Sri Lanka today, an important game for both teams to improve their ranking. Currently, Srilanka is ranked 7th in the point table followed by the English side as they have a better net run rate than England. This is the first time the best white ball cricket team (England) has struggled in the World Cup. I think England has a better chance to win today than the Srilankan team. If they win today by a good margin then they might be able to dethrone Afghanistan on the point table on the basis of net run rate.

LOL.. I seriously wish that England lose today, so that they can pack their bags and book their fight tickets back to London. This is what they get for stealing the world cup in 2019. 4 years have passed since that fateful day, but Kane Williamson's facial expression when he talked during the award ceremony is still fresh in my mind. And the guy who played the most crucial part (Ben Stokes) has played just one match so far in this world cup (he recently turned down the ECB offer for a 3-year contract and settled for a 1-year deal).

Actually, they increased the expectations by beating South Africa. I believe any team has the capability to beat others in their good day and performance from some specific players can change the game for a team.

Bangladesh will play their next game against the Netherlands where Bangladesh is a little bit favorite. But it's not Mirpur. It's in Kolkata and Bangladesh has to give their best if they want to win against the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Bangladeshi captain Sakib Al Hasan was in Dhaka for an unknown reason. Probably to open a showroom?

Netherlands need to score 400 runs from 300 balls to win against Australia. Another big defeat awaits in the World Cup tournament. I was watching Australia batting against Netherlands and enjoying the shots of Australian batsmen. Today, watching the match, there was no way to know whether I was watching a T20 game or an ODI game. Netherlands can score 200 to 250 runs at maximum against Australia I don't think Netherlands can do more than that for now. With Maxwell's monstrous batting, it is not surprising that Australia's first innings collection was four hundred. I think the semi-final matches will be more enjoyable than the earlier matches as either team will lose by a large margin and either team will win by a large margin.
Australia set the Netherlands a target of 400 runs. I think Australia will beat Netherlands by a huge margin in this match.  Glenn Maxwell scored the fastest century in the history of the World Cup. His game looked like he was playing T20. Glenn Maxwell scored 106 runs from 44 balls and David Warner scored 104 runs from 93 balls.  It is never possible for the Netherlands to win on the same mountain run top as Australia did. So Netherlands is sure to win today's match. Now Netherlands should lose by a respectable margin of runs. Team Australia takes another step towards the semi-finals. Congratulations to the Australian team for giving such a beautiful batting gift.
It was an absolute carnage, and it was absolutely fantastic to watch. I've always been a fan of watching Maxwell bat, especially when he plays like he did tonight for Aussies! Every single shot he played was an absolute delight to watch. It's been a while since I've seen an innings like that. Congratulations to Max for his fastest World Cup century.

As for the Netherlands, it seems highly unlikely that they'll be able to chase down the total. They've already lost two early wickets, and a big defeat is loading.
I really enjoyed watching Australia play today especially when Max Well scored the fastest century in 40 balls, I got so much joy that I can't express myself. Maxwell's game felt like we were watching a T20 match. I had already predicted Australia to win today's match as they batted aggressively from the start. Australia threw a target of 400 runs to the Netherlands with a lot of commendable batting, as a result of which the Netherlands played with a target of 400 runs and they were bowled out for 90 runs. There is nothing to be sad about, any incident can happen at any time in the playground. Just such an incident happened in the Netherlands Australia match. However, Australia's dream of staying in the second round came true today with a win against the Netherlands. My congratulations and best wishes to Maxwell and the entire Cricket Team Australia.
We often see good innings from David Warner's performance. But Maxwell's good performance is not easily seen. I saw Maxwell's great performance with the bat in IPL long ago and since then i liked his batting style quite a bit but could not enjoy his batting well for a long time. But after today's performance, I saw his old form again. Australia played a superb innings against Netherlands with a target of 399 runs allowing the Australian team to score only 90 runs. As a weak team, Netherlands team does not have the ability to win against the Australian team. Finally Australia won the match by a margin of 309 runs, which is one of the highest margins of this tournament.

Although your words will hurt Bangladeshi fans, I will also say that it is true that Bangladesh's dream with South Africa remains a dream. Bangladesh lost by a big margin. The Bangladeshi bowlers were well ruled by South Africa's brilliant batting performance. Bangladesh is one of the weaker teams participating in this year's ICC World Cup. In this case, the performance from Bangladesh was as expected. Anyway you mentioned Mahmudullah Riyad yes he performed well 111 off 111 balls with a strike rate of 100. But the main reason for the loss of the Bangladesh team is their lack of teamwork. On the other hand, South Africa showed full team work.

Bangladeshi fans should not be hurt due to these words. Because they were already hurt seeing their performance. So, there is nothing that can hurt them more than that. This is a harsh reality. Bangladesh team selectors tried hard to remove Mahmudullah from the World Cup squad but they were not able to do that against the protest. Riyad already replying to them with his performance.

Bangladesh is one of the weakest teams in this world cup. I would say the first upset of this World Cup was when Afghanistan was beaten by Bangladesh. After that, Afghanistan beat teams like England and Pakistan.
