Ah, I checked this regularly last two weeks, iasenko, but candidates who have enough activities, but have been lack of merits for their next ranks have very low speed of merit earnings. That is why I have not find anyone, by now. Maybe, someone will self-nominate here, like me weeks ago. If not, the challenge will be sticker a while. It is the same as my merit contest. After first three round (three weeks), there have been no applicant for the fourth week, by now.

@ tbct_mt2 did you find someone interesting to become challange-taker? Of course, you can give up with nominating next person but it would be great if you will do so.
I have not found anyone so far. Maybe, the challenge has to wait for self-nominee like me weeks ago.  Cheesy
Have you check this thread >  ⭐ Forum chronicle - UP Rank List - Congratulations! (BPIP Merit stat, Trust) ⭐ there is a list in the OP of all those account reached the activity but missing just some merit to rank up. This can be helpful for future reference as well. Smiley

Great to hear that. OP updated. Together we've donated around 68$. I'm slowly getting proud of this topic. Hope to see more and more challenges and finally have all 3 spots full all the time.

@wwzsocki it's nice that you have given your donation to charity run by @cabalism13 - supporting forum users in supporting others is a good direction and additionally integrates us

You can now nominate next person to the challenge (of course if you want to Smiley )

Remember that you can also nominate someone to gain fixed amount of merits (that way you can nominate even someone far from ranking up)

Update 2.0 :
From now on you can challenge other member to gain fixed amount of merits (f.e. 20). But if there will be more thrown challenges than empty spots priority goes to rank up challenges.

Ok, I appreciated your chance to accept me as your challenge-taker, the second one.  The update of the challenge's rule looks good. I might spend someday to find someone as a candidate of third challenge-taker.

...As you can see we are currently suffering from lack of challenges (2 empty slots). If we will suffer due to lack of empty spots i will think again about your proposal.

I agree with @TytanowyJanusz we don't need other limitations because there are still open slots and is not so easy to challenge somebody.

Personally, I tried to find a member to challenge and after a few days almost give up and only because @tbct_mt2 volunteer, I was able to challenge him.

The main reason is charity so we need as many challenges as possible and each limitation is bad.

I have a suggestion to use this charity: Bitcointalk Charity Program - Give Hope to Everyone $ 1 Is A Big Thing For Them
found by @Cryptovigi because is from Bitcointalk and supports our members.

Of course, one would have a free choice but suggested should be our charity, I assume.

@Tytanowy Janusz: since you've introduced a rule that allows anyone to give a challenge (not just the winner / loser of the previous challenge) I think it's worth to modify the table of challenges for a column with the name of the challenge giver.

Leaving the table in its current state makes it unclear (reading the OP) who has donated or failed to donate for charity

Agree. It has to be changed. I was thinking about that many times and always had something more important to do. But now, when you showed me that this is annoying not only for me, forced me to fix it as fast as possible Smiley

By the way, for next challenge-makers and challenge-takers, I suggest the OP to edit current rules with one new rule:
- Challenge-makers can only nominate candidates whom earned at least 80% of required merits for next rank.
This rule mostly makes sure that challenge-takers nearly start the challenge at the same line.

I don't think it is important. This topic purpose is to improve post quality, having fun and the most important help others by donating to charity. Challenge equality only limits fun, number of challenges and amount of donations to charity. Noting else. As you can see you have only 12 merits to earn. Wwzysocki had 27. Is it bad? Should we limit that to more than 20 merits? Of course not. I don't think it's something bad to challenge someone even with 100 merits left. If he will manage to do this in one week we will definitely have a damn good quality poster (marit hunter) who will deserve to be at the top of best challenges list (if i'll create anything like that in future). I also don't see anything bad in nominating someone with 1 merit left. Quick 5 min challenge and another donation to charity Smiley

A few words to introduce myself and officially start the challenge.
I joined the forum in August of 2017, with some basics about MNTC project, that has turned to nearly a dead one now. In fact, during my early months in the forum, I joined without any real purpose, I even don't know the importance of Bitcointalk in crypto. Fortunately, I stood at the Full Member rank when merit system began  Grin. Then, I nearly failed to earn single merit around one or two months after the beginning of merit system. The first shocking thing come to me when The Pharmacist left his tag on my account due to my bad English "This user is a garbage shitposter who writes redundant posts in shitty English."
Being motivated by the feedback from The Pharmacist, I started to collect English books, first for my own interst to improve my English skills, especially the writing skill. After that, I decided to publish my collection there:
Collections for someone who would like to improve English skills
I moved very slowly, and more than one year after January of 2018, today I have 238 merits in total, just 12 merits left to reach the next rank for Senior Members.
I accepted to join the challenge, just for fun, but the main reasons is I would like to show that everyone can surpass challenges from merit system and rank requirements related to merit system. If someone does not give up, keep learning, improving, and contributing, someday that person will definitely can reach next rank. Importantly, merit system started to help real users to rank up to higher ranks, not to keep them stucked at low ranks.
There is the list of my topics:
Tips for newbies, who want to avoid over-quoting
Guideline on posting images (with size adjustments), hyperlinks
Collection of comprehensive guides on identify and avoid scam projects
Tools for managers to check quality of posts (both merited & unmerited posts)
[TIPS] to avoid plagiarism
[Suggestion] Rules on Animated Images should be changed
[Suggestion] Should the forum have new rule on campaign
[6]: Reduces potential improvements on crypto knowledge: I meant by brainless spamming the forum, spammers will have less (or without) exposures to comprehensive boards, child boards, topics, posts, that in turn will result in decreasing chances to be exposed with knowledgeable things in the forum. Then, maybe spammers will spend years to spam in the forum without any improvements on their knowledge about crypto things.

I also run my own merit contest
1 merit per applicant who find qualifying posts or topics on Scam Related Issues

By the way, for next challenge-makers and challenge-takers, I suggest the OP to edit current rules with one new rule:

Sorry that I haven't responded here for so long but I wanted to find somebody to challenge first before, I post again.

Despite that, I tried really hard to challenge a few members, nobody wants to accept it.

I think this is just a bad time and we are in the last phase of the bear market so there are not so many members frequently active.

There is still a little hope because I wait for answers from members I tried to challenge. Let's hope that somebody will accept it finally.

I have left You @TytanowyJanusz additional positive trust feedback for your donation fulfillment.

I see that @wwzsocki hasn't responded yet maybe because I just sent him PM that I do not accept the challenge.
Thanks, @WWzsocki for this invitation and your support but I just don't fill strong enough to accept it.
When I look at my merits history most of them are from @WWzsocki and only a few from other members.
Thank you for your ongoing support during this year @wwzsocki I really appreciate it but don't have the skills yet to get so many merits in a short time.
I am still learning and maybe next time when closer to senior member rank then you can challenge me again.
Wish you all luck in challenges and congratulations to all winners.

Its just for fun. In the worst case you will have to donate more than 1 cent to charity Smiley Not that bad Smiley If it would be easy for everyone it won't be called "challenge". If you don't fill strong with your knowledge you can always write some translations of quality topics (hope your native language is not English because most of them are in English). I can give you few links.

Anyway i appreciate your honesty and modesty. If that's your final position i'll accept it.

Thank you. Take your time Smiley choose wisely.

As a person who just finished challenge i can nominate another member. But I've decided to leave this spot as empty for others. I've created this topic for community. I've nominated once, i was nominated once now its time for you to have fun.

And of course big congratulations for Tytanowy Janusz

I wish I am so much merit away from Legendary, and I have not enough time to post such good quality posts as both of you to deserve merit's

Thank you. Well you can always challenge someone. There are 2 free spots. And I've added 2 updates so now you can challenge someone to earn fixed amount of merits (f.e. 20)

Update:
Most of the feedback I get is about that this challenge sounds fun but only few will have opportunity to take part in. I thought about letting nominated person nominate up to 2 users. But that way after 10 round I'll have to mange 1000 challenges. That's why I came up with an idea that I will open 3 spots for 3 active challenges per week. If you see empty spot that means that its free and will be taken by first challenge posted. You can challenge anyone. New spot will be realised if someone won't nominate new user on time.

Update 2.0 :
From now on you can challenge other member to gain certain amount of merits (f.e. 20). But if there will be more thrown challenges than empty spots priority goes to rank up challenges.

Farewell o_e_l_e_o
You are a high risk-taker, anyway, you made it and it is time to demonstrate that you actually made a good decision, breaking one for rest period of your life.
Seeing how volatile and exciting this market is I've decided to quit my job and earn for a living with trading.
Crypto market is totally different than stock market. Both of them manipulated by news, but crypto is more vulnerable with news than stock. Emotion is another key component of crypto market on crypto traders and investors.
Quote
I felt confident with my 3 years trading experience on stocks. Since now i don't know if that was right decision. Emotional roller-coaster every day.
You made a good example about the role of forum in crypto. It is the essential place to get news, information, as well as to discuss, and learn valuable things. When merit system launched more than one year ago, lots of shitposters asked for removing the merit system, or demands of a fork from bitcointalk forum. It's one of the biggest joke I have ever seen in the forum. Bitcointalk-forked forum.  Roll Eyes

To have additional income and still be able to control my trades i started doing bounties. That's how I've found Bitcointalk (I am not proud of the reasons why I came here). After a while on forum i found out that BTT its great place with interresting community. I've quit bounties and start to contribute for community. Sharing my maths/economy analysis with others. Discussing with others. It's started to be very relaxing and helps me not thing about trades all the time.

This person have to announce their acceptance in this topic together with short self introduction (with few best posts?) within 24h.[/li][/list]

so, @Tytanowy Janusz - will you take the challenge ??

Well its time for me to introduce myself.

I'm 28 year old guy with wife and one-year-old son. My second son will be born in September. I have 3 paramours ... maths, economy and of course bitcoin. I started my adventure with bitcoin by buying it at 18 000$ in December 2017. Yea.. after 3 years of trading on stocks i bought bitcoin at the top of the bubble. That's how blindly i fall in love with it when i was going deeper and deeper with my research. Hopefully I've invested only 20% there. Rest was at 14k, 10k, 6k and 3,2k. Seeing how volatile and exciting this market is I've decided to quit my job and earn for a living with trading. I felt confident with my 3 years trading experience on stocks. Since now i don't know if that was right decision. Emotional roller-coaster every day.

I've created few interresting topic that I would like to share with you:

Money creation system - is bitcoin creation resistant? - I'm proud of that one. I think everyone should read that. Its about possibility of implementing fractional reserve system by huge crypto exchange or crypto banks.

Then I've started signature campaign where i had to do some posts in gambling section. To be honest I'm against gambling (my mathematical mind forbids me to play any game where probability is against me). But I understand that some people enjoy gambling. I only think that all of them should know that its only for fun (not for earning) and the probability is always on the casino side. That's why i've started this threat.

Does Martingale Work? - Against myth that was most often repeated in gambling section. That this strategy works or as some say ... works only with big bankroll.

I'm also contributing a lot in Polish local board:

Signature campaing - regularnie płatne pewniaki - all free spots in signature campaings that mach strictly defined criteria

Ranking zaufania Trust - jak działa? Czym jest DT i jak nim zostać. - everything you need to know about Trust system

[Poradnik] Portfele sprzętowe - który wybrać? - translation of BitCryptex tutorial [Guide] Hardware wallets - which one is a good choice?

I have few other interresting topics but lets not create spam in here.

Sorry I'm against this idea, if this is some form of fund raising for charity it should be taken to the Service board or any other board where previous charity have been carried out then it'll get more support and mine too. I'm very sure serious members won't associate with this. This only portray the idea of merit competition which I don't think it is hygienic for the forum. You don't create quality post with the idea of getting merited but as a contribution in regards to quality discussion in the forum, getting merited is just a bonus.

No hate but just imagine this, some random user accepts the challenge he/she now knows all eyes are on his account. what does he do, he takes advantage of that and goes hurting in regards to creating quality content and in return gets merits and ranked up. Then what?, We shouldn't encourage creating quality content just because they want to rank up (receive) merit but because volunteering we want to add value to the forum. If users use ranking up as their main motivation to create quality post, they become liability to the forum when they achieve that goals as the motivation will be lost.

Thank you for your feedback. I was thinking a lot about the best place to post it and meta section seams the best for me for discussion about bitcointalk function which is merit system. Suggested by you Service Board seams to be far from accurate since I'm not offering any service here. Games and Rounds? ... do we really want to dig in charity topic into spam from gambling sites?

I understand your point about merit system. But does it matter for user who came here with question looking for an answer if he get it from "merit hunter" or "@Mather_Theresa". Does it matter if fireman extinguishes fire in your house for money or with mindset of helping others (and money as extra profit). Both are doing great job. I don't know if Wwzysocki is first or second one and it does not matter for me. I only challenged him to try to extinguish more fire this week (or as He choosed ... make more fire).

I know that it is not in accordance with the regulations that he has introduced(After challenge user, who was nominated has 24 to nominate the next person (be careful to who challenge you. prepared for that ;-))

    but maybe he will agree...

I was thinking a lot that 1 challenge per week is not enought. Thats why i've change rules a little. From now on anyone can challenge anyone unless there is empty spot. I hope you guys find it fair for everyone (if not i'm open for discussion). That way your challenge is correct.

so, @Tytanowy Janusz - will you take the challenge ??

Your answer is very politically correct, but completely incompatible with the reality. Since the introduction of the merit system, users (at least in the rank below Legendary) try to get some of them - probably for most users this is not the meaning of life, but for sure motivates them to make a bigger contribution (and isn't it merit system purpose?).
In the ideal reality you are talking about merit, would only get users: @Mather_Theresa and @St_Francis  (who of course would not have wear signatures). But we live in a real world and many users think about merits, is it bad - that they receive an additional incentive to create better (and more) content - NO.
@wwzsocki user has already proven that he can create posts which are worth rewarding - so this challenge can only convince him to spend some more time this week than usual but he will certainly not hurt from writing more posts.

That would be a good idea to help or encourage other users to post quality replies or start a thread. There are merit source out there just reading especially in this section where.many of them will be found here discussing about the forum foe betterment of the forum. This is the mere reason why they always stick to this section.

This thread of you have OP is the proof or evidence that the initiative of the users discussing here always  to promote and help for the betterment of the forum has been paid off graudally.

Hope to see more posts like this in the near future and encourage more users to be a good and abiding user in this forum.

    Up for this thread.

Great idea @TytanowyJanusz. Charity always wins which is a great part of this challenge.
Wish luck to both of you, of course, but I have only one merit and it goes to @WWzsocki for the support he shows me here on Bitcointalk.

Just wanted to update my post and start the challenge.
    ...
Almost two years passed and I managed to get 223 merits and am only a step away to finally get Hero Member rank which I am chasing for so long.
I want to add that I am a supporter of Merit System and thanks to Merits I was able to evolve from a simple forum spammer to really contributing and proud member of the community.
    ...

Let make this thread more exciting:

    Look how the situation looks:

@wwzsocki has earned 223 merits and has 27 merits left get a higher rank

and the guy who challenged him:

@Tytanowy Janusz - he has earned 223 merits and has 27 merits left get a higher rank

so we have a draw to make it more interesting?

    I'm calling you @Tytanowy Janusz !!!

I know that it is not in accordance with the regulations that he has introduced(After challenge user, who was nominated has 24 to nominate the next person (be careful to who challenge you. prepared for that ;-))

    but maybe he will agree...

so, @Tytanowy Janusz - will you take the challenge ??

And one merit for each of you - @Tytanowy Janusz for great idea and @wwzsocki for his courage

Just wanted to update my post and start the challenge.

Here are a few words about me and a few of my posts/threads to make easy for you to find and merit them which will help me to win this challenge  Grin.

I am just an average guy with a passion for Bitcoin and blockchain. I have registered on Bitcointalk in 2013 and never rushed to achieve a higher rank in beginning but I have managed to get Senior Member rank quite fast and from almost 4 years I have this rank despite I am frequently active. I was one of the "victims" of Merit because the system was introduced a couple of days before my promotion to Hero Member. Of course, I was devastated when I realized that I will need two or three years more to achieve the rank which I had almost in my hand.
Almost two years passed and I managed to get 223 merits and am only a step away to finally get Hero Member rank which I am chasing for so long.
I want to add that I am a supporter of Merit System and thanks to Merits I was able to evolve from a simple forum spammer to really contributing and proud member of the community.
Only because of Merits I have changed my bad habits and learned how to be a real member of this community. Not only take but also give back and always try to improve the skills every time this is possible, learn from others and contribute as much as I can. Enough about myself, here are a few posts/threads of mine:

You could adjust the part where the challenge is to rank up and make it a challenge to earn a certain amount of merits. The user has to earn 10 merits in the next days for example, no matter the rank. In that way anyone who wants to participate can do it. It might be hard to find enough users who are close to ranking up since they need both the activity and merits.

You might be right. Let's test it on few rounds and see how it will work. If we will have trouble with nominating another member or someone will like to nominate friend that is far from ranking up i will not protest to challenge someone to earn fixed amount of merits. Even challenge "who will get more merrits wins" sounds interresting.

I've decided to challenge @wwzsocki. Quality poster with only 27 merits short to rank up to Hero member rank. That would be close to 4 merits per day. Hard but not impossible.

@wwzsocki I challenge you to be the best BTT member for the whole week. Write as much quality posts as you can. Help as many BTT users as you can and win forcing me to be better person by donating to charity or fail and donate to charity by yourself! Now your move![/b]

Sorry that I respond so late but I was offroad for the weekend to make a break from the virtual world for a while and reload my batteries. We have really beautiful weather here and this is the first time from the winter so I really enjoyed my family around me, the sun and wild nature for the hall weekend.

Now I am back and I will crash this challenge with all these powers accumulated inside me in the last days. I was already thinking about new threads I want to start when I come back. From some time I have a really controversial thread in my mind, let's look if this thread helps me to win this challenge or only bring new enemies.

      Is the challenge random?
If so, what if the challenged member is not interested or does not want to participate?

I nominate first person. After challenge he/she will nominate another one. If he/she is not interested may simply not accept it and another person will be nominated.

Anyway, the new kind of challenge of the OP is interesting, and innovative. I don't see the exact rewards for winners mentioned in the OP, so can the OP clarify it more, please.

Its simple. Looser donate funds to charity. As much as he wants. The end. There is no reward. Its topic created to improve post quality, and help charity.

I think that would be fun, but I can’t rank up anymore. Tongue
Outstanding guys should be eliminated from such challenge, like DdmrDdmr, who can rank up more to Hero, and Legendary. Even in the case the challenge open sooner, and DdmrDdmr does not earn enough merits for Legendary rank, he should be eliminated from such challenge. Because, if he has chance to join, he will win for sure with his fast merit-earning rate Grin
Maybe, the top 50 merit receivers should be excluded to join the challenge.
Top 200 Merit Receivers without Merit from the Top 200 Merit Receivers

It's not kinder garden. Its topic created to encourage nominated users to try their best contributing for BTT community or donate to charity. There is nothing to win. Its not lottery to win a house. What if wwzysocki will challenge theymos? For sure, he can't rank up and will have to donate to charity if he will accept challenge before but what if he will create new rank just for fun and rank yourself up just for one day? Than Wwzysocki will have to donate to charity. That would be very interesting and fun to watch. Why to limite that? There is nothing to win. Its Win - Win situation for everyone (BTT community, nominated user, charity)

You should construct a limitation on your challenge since not all of the members have an equal amount of merits and the target merit. It's hard especially for those who will need a lot of merits to complete the challenge. You should specifically state the range of the merits needed to be able to participate in the rank up challenge.
However love the idea but think in this case newbies are in better position they need only ONE merit  Cheesy

I don't know how rich @Tytanowy Janusz is, you know it will be easy for them to gain 1 merit and more 100$ will go to the charity.

Again. It's not kinder garden. In ice bucket challenge you don't have any limitations like (5% of month income or 2% if you have more than 2 kids in donation, bucket with at least 10l of water and 16 cubes of ice 1cm^3 each to be sure that its equal for all)

I don't know where you get those 100$ from. I don't have to be rich to donate more than 1 cent to charity once. Cause i only challenge wwzysocki. He will challenge next person if he would like to.

      Lol,
This sounds like fun but just for a few participants, big part of the active members are our of the scope + the chalange cound create quite a merit hunting situation.
Anyway, since I cannot join Cheesy (I have to wait almost a year) I'll keep an eye on the participants to trow some merit thier way.

Thank you. I'm sure they will appreciate it. I see activity is your limit. You must be damn good quality poster Smiley

If the person who has been challenged is ready to take the challenge, he has to announce his acceptance, and if he doesn't do that within 24 hours, there will be another random challenge targeting someone else, I guess.
Correct me if I'm wrong, OP.[/list]

You are right. I didn't specify that. I'll do it now.
If person, who was nominated, will not accept challenge within 24h (idle on forum or post with refusal) person who nominated him has 24h to nominate next person.

If nominated person was idle and will get online can still accept challenge if another was not yet thrown.

If person don't want to nominate anyone I'll do it or I'll write post with other instructions (something like - anyone can throw challenge to anyone. First post wins)

@Wwzysocki did not accept challenge within 24 h. He was most likely idle (did not post anything for 2 days). Now i have 24h to nominate another person, If Wwzysocki will accept challenge before i do that it will count. I think its fair. I'll find another user tomorrow.

I know it's a good thing for you guys to have a challenge and donate whoever's the loser to the charity but I believe that rushing something can't have a 100% success. You could do this in simple and funny way. All who want to participate in challenge do so send merit to all participant and then send them back to person who send it. Then I believe you will get rank up. Funny but this is idea or suggestion many want to do this but sometimes you need to be at the right place at the right time. Dont need to be good content writer or good post writer.

what if the challenged member is not interested or does not want to participate?

Although there is no extra instructions for a person being challenged on how to react if he is not interested, but I think this line makes it quite clear:

      • I nominate first person to rank up challenge. This person have to announce their acceptance in this topic together with short self introduction (with few best posts?) within 24h.

If the person who has been challenged is ready to take the challenge, he has to announce his acceptance, and if he doesn't do that within 24 hours, there will be another random challenge targeting someone else, I guess.

7-day period is enough for the challenge, shorter period will be over challenging. Even with good posters, they totally depends on others users , including merit sources to received merits for their good posts. Other users, and merit sources, in turn have their own issues, some week they more actively log-in, and use the forum, read back and forth posts/ topics; some week they less actively use the forum than their usual levels.
The case becomes clearer if one user  mostly receive merits from local boards' merit sources. What will happen if merit sources turn into less actively in short period, less than 7 days?
Anyway, the new kind of challenge of the OP is interesting, and innovative. I don't see the exact rewards for winners mentioned in the OP, so can the OP clarify it more, please.

Maybe you could provide some limitations on who can participate as there are some people who are like 5-10 merits away from ranking up. In addition, I guess you could also increase the time limit depending on their current rank, with the lowest rank having the least time (maybe before less than 24 hours) and other ranks following the same rule as well. Nonetheless, this is a noble purpose as long as charity always wins!

Good luck to all participants who will be attempting to challenge this event!

It's for charity and for fun. I think it does not require those extra limitations to work. If you will challenge someone who needs 1 merit to rank up he will most likely do it in 1 day and you will have to donate to charity faster and we will continue with another challenge. If you will challenge someone who needs 200 merits he will most likely fail and donate to charity or don't accept challenge and we will continue with another person after 24h.

What you guys think about challenging up to 2 members? I'm a bit concerned about that because after 10 round we will have more than 1000 challenged members per week which I won't be able to handle.

@wwzsocki You still have 7h to accept challenge.

Hello Bitcointalk community. I'm happy to introduce RANK UP CHALLANGE.

      Rules:

      • I nominate first person to rank up challenge. This person have to announce their acceptance in this topic together with short self introduction (with few best posts?) within 24h.

      • If he will not manage to rank up during whole week than he will have to donate funds to charity. (It does not matter how much. That's only for fun. It could be 1 cent or 1000$)
      • If he will manage to rank up I will donate funds to charity. (charity always wins Smiley )
      • Winner or looser have to post proof of donation
      • After challenge user, who was nominated has 24h to nominate next person (be careful to who you throw challenge. If he will manage to win than You will have to donate funds to charity Smiley, be prepared for that Smiley )

From now on you can challenge other member to gain fixed amount of merits (f.e. 20). But if there will be more thrown challenges than empty spots priority goes to rank up challenges.
