ICOs are a great method to raise funds for a StartUp. And, as in any other great method, there's a risk that some people will try to benefit out of it in an unethical way - doing scams. Thus, if you're to invest in a particular ICO, I'd recommend that you do your research thoroughly, as this is something crucial - the right step might generate a lot of income and vice versa. I can tell you some of the ICOs that I have invested in, but this would be subjective, as each individual trader has different preferences. I recently came across a company called Cointed, which is specializing in ICOs. I personally invested in some of the ICOs I saw from them and I haven't been disappointed so far. Here's a link to their reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Cointed/ . I personally believe that there's much to be learned from some of the articles in it regarding the right ICOs to be considered and how to properly discern them from scams.

Hi Guys,

Im pretty keen to understand more about ICOs and intend to invest in some.
ANY recommended ICOs and any advise how you guys determine whether is it a legit or Scam?

Thanks in advance.

indeed most of the ICO is a fraud, but there are also many legit ICOs, you must first examine their team, whitepaper, and vision of the mission

there are scams and there are also legit. its hard to tell actually to differentiate those legit from scams but to be sure, you may study that campaign you wishes to invest to. study it thoroughly so your money wont go down the drain.

It is now very difficult to determine ICO on scam. First of all you need to study the project itself, its technology, team, white paper and road map. Although this does not guarantee 100% that the company will be successful. Elementarily, a good project may be bad marketing and the company will not fire.

i saw many topic is similar this topic. I can definitely 90% ICOs is scam however many ICOs have good project and ICOs will give big profit for investor who invest in. So how to avoid scam ICOs ? First you should research ICO which you want to participate to. Research about Team, Technology, Product, Roadmap... after you should go round this forum and view value of people who is many of experience to know you should invest in the ICO or not.

Well everyone will say that 90% of ICO are scam and bla bla but remember their is Gold in the glitter, If you happen to find and invest in one good ICO , it can change your life as ICO tokens are really cheap and once those coins reaches exchanges you can get 5x - 10x profits.
So i will suggest everyone to look for good ICO and keep searching for them and also share with us.
On which ICO did you make 5x-10x profits please?

In order to determine if the ICO is a legit or scam, basically you only need to do some research about the campaign. Read all the information that are available about them. You can also check the reviews or what it is all about on that ICO at the icobench website, or you can also check the ICO's own website.

The most important thing is to research every ICO you are interested.

Talk to the team, ask questions, read the white paper etc.

I would then get involved in a bounty campaign rather than investing immediately. It is better to be cautious than throw your money away.

Personally, I am looking at Crowdholding. They have a working platform, strong team and they are trying to build a community.

Most of the ICO's are scams but its hard to determined them one by one , few of them are legits . If you want to invest in a good ICO , you must make a research for it. Read their whitepaper , roadmaps if any. And the goal of that ICO in the future when its finally started.

You have to research a lot to find good ICO's.

it is hard but not impossible to find a good project that has high potential, it is just harder because of the sheer volume.
Some coins have legit ICO's, you'd have to do enough research to see if those coins are doing what they say.

The ICO scene is blowing up right now and people are jumping in without looking.

Sadly when an alternative finance for a startup are taking shape, they all jump in whether or not they actually suit that type of finance. I happened with crowdsourcing as well.

So of course there are some bad projects / scams but you just have to do your homework and research them throughly. You have to remember that for a company to launch an ICO it still requires some time and capital to do it, so if there is very little to the ICO then they are clearly just doing it to get a quick pay day.

When you find an ICO that you like, start looking into the team, ask questions, read the white paper and ask yourself "why do they need blockchain technology / tokens?" if the response is just for an ICO then avoid.

If you want to know if an ICO is legit or is Scam, there few question you need to ask yourself. Are crypto enthusiast involve in the ICO? Does the ICO have a community? Is there problem or improvement that the ICO is trying to solve? The question to ask could go on and on but you will eventually be certain about your decision if you research where you want to put your money!

AFAIK we have some legit ICOs and of course some scam projects that are only interested in the money aspect and will disappear immediately after collecting these funds
any advise how you guys determine whether is it a legit or Scam?
My recommendation that comes to determining the right project is finding projects with team members that have a digital footprint that can be easily traced on recognizable platforms like LinkedIn if not that their past work should have easy reference and if possible the ICO should have a prototype of a project before crowd sourcing.
