i consider invest for bitcoin is more profitable rather than altcoins so if i have those amount i would not think twice with buying bitcoin and actually $500 is enough for basic capital for trading bitcoin so i would not doubt my decission that bitcoin is still my main option
I will buy bitcoin with 400 and altcoin like ERG and money I and wave will take the remaining 100 because I know quite well that there is more to come in bitcoin from all point of reasoning

If ever I do have that amount 500$, much better to invest it into altcoin such as XEM, BAY, MAID, BURST, XMG each
of the coins would be 100$ each then hold in a long terms.
$500 isnt much and most people can definitely afford to lose it without it affecting their health too much. I would put it all in altcoins that are new to the market and holding them until they explode.
Invest in ICO's, look for ones with revolutionary ideas. Things like ETH, bitcoin etc have already pumped so while they may go higher in the next 1-2 years they won't go up 100x or 1000x like some of the promising ICO's will. For me in particular I like Aragon because they will revolutionize how companies operate in this globalized world.
The people who invested in the recent ICOs were lucky because the market sentiment is very positive. But what if by the end of the year we are back to a bear market? Will ICOs be still a good idea to invest in?
Maybe ICOs may get comparatively more profits, but a new investors should not take big risk. Based on this investment priciples, I'm always suggesting investing with bitcoin kind of highly reputed opportunities. Because making lesser profit will be nice rather than struggling with big losses.

Nice try, but I might try something different. Maybe 50% I invest for bitcoin, and 50% I will invest for altcoin, I think it will be very profitable, because sometimes altcoin is compared with altcoin. So, if the bitcoin price falls, the altcoin price rises.

LTC, I'd go and invest all on LTC because it is the only alt coin undervalued in the whole market, of course bitcoin should be the first choice but with $500 you are better off investing on LTC and if you have more than $5000 then go for bitcoin. remember this is just my opinion. biased or not it's my own. Now while I'm saying this I'm buying bitcoin under $100 every week and sending it to my cold wallet.

Just to say that this question was asked and answered several times in the forum. So apart for the answers you get you might want to search around for more info.
IMO if you are new to alt/crypto i would definitely BUY BTC and ETH and put it for margin lending on polo. Then i would use the time around to get to know the market for a while before entering other coins. The rest if part your knowledge/study part your gut. I for example hold BTC, ETH and Monero. The rest of the coins are shorter term trades.

I think most of the people said if you have $500 kn your pocket the best investment that you can do is to buy bitcoin and hold for few months and your $500 become double after that. Because the price of bitcoin is continously increasing and halving is near so the price for sure become double. And if you want more more profit you can hold it for few years . You can try also invest to the ethereum coin this coin is promising and hold it for few months or maybe few years and make a lot of profit. Much better if you big capital but if you have $500 its okay.
Invest on BTC. I see that it's growing every day. I have to invest as much bitcoins as I can, and sell it when the time is right and profit is big enough. It's just like I'm playing in stock exchanges.
Be careful if you are investing all in btc. BTC is already on all time high and there was no such big reason in past few days that btc price soared so high. So a fall in place means almost 500$ down will be easily. So ensure you can sustain a loss if it falls or else buy and sell in some profit itself.

You can see that eth is now at $160 and I have turned a total of a $900 investment into a crypto portfolio worth $8,300 as of today, with 13 different coins. I sold some ether when it was $50, $80 and $100 and used the profits to invest in other coins. I still hold 24 eth. You want to make sure to diversify and have several coins, that way if one goes down you don't lose all of your investment capital.

I'll invest in buying some bitcoins. Because I'm sure the next few days bitcoin prices can increase. Growing 500USD with bitcoin is now easier than any other investment.
Hmmm, something that has its advantages. Indeed today there are possibilities and potential that bitcoin will have or climb into a price above $5000. For now this bitcoin has begun known by some countries, such as Japan (overall). No, icos are risk investment, we can lose much money investing in icos, much better to hold bitcoins, it's safe compared to other schemes. Bitcoin everyone in crypto world knows what is and its strenght was already prooved.
Ico is a good idea only if you have extra money to try, but only what you are afford to lose, like in gambling.
That is the most obvious choice of course. But that does not mean it is bad to invest in ICO if you know what you are doing. It is like gambling in dice sites. Gambling and ICO investing both have risks. But why is one encouraged and the other is not?

I would diversify my investment, like 50% to buy bitcoin and 50% for ethereum. These two coins has bigger chance to rise rapidly as there are many supports out there using bitcoin and ethereum as medium of exchange to develop their business. 2 months ago when ethereum price only $18 - bitcoin at $1000 and now each just reach $164 and $2000, amazing increases within 2-3 months. I believe these coins will continue to rise and your money will doubled of course.
Me too believe in Bitcoin a lot. Just few hours ago invested $ 300 into bitcoins as the price has dropped since last pump. This dump will go on more down below I guess but I don't want take the chance as it may rise again anytime. This time lets hope it reaches atlas $ 3000 on the market. This will lead to blooming profits for me. So, it would be BTC only that I would invest if I had $ 500.
The investment in BTCs always worth, but sometimes it doesn't worth on short-term, so investors should know they will have to wait sometime until they could sell the BTCs and make the fiat profit over it. I believe the price will drop a bit more too, but you did the right choice, better to guarantee yourself for the next pump, as sometimes we aren't aware about the pump and when we see it's too late to invest...
I think as of today BTC is one of the best. You can invest because as I see BTC will increasing faster everyday. How amazing! I love to invest but I have not enough BTC. I wish I have a lot btc.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are great but ICO's bring higher potential rewards. The one I'm betting will be most successful is Aragon because they will bring the cryptoworld mainstream through startup companies all over the world.
