What about Avalon shipping 135 boxes shipped to the reseller in HK?
2.1 million chips - $14.7million dollars

Check near the bottom of the article for the tracking info:
http://thegenesisblock.com/latest-shipment-of-avalon-asics-could-increase-network-hashrate-by-500/

Actually TGB did a sloppy job on this. Clearly visible "n/24" is written on each parcel and furthermore there are two tracking identifiers: a MAWB (Master Air Way Bill) which was 871 5050 8076 and a HAWB (House Air Way Bill) which was JHG13060373. The MAWB is the identifier for the "whole stack" of the shipping company and the HAWB is an internal identifier for each recipient. Means: the total amount of parcels for this shipping company was 135 parcels altogether, but fidelhl most likely received only 24 parcels.

Wow, this is the worst PR management ever. Shit is flying everywhere and shit barely gets explained properly, I'm glad they are not dealing with pre-order crap after these chips but I'm VERY wary of buying another Avalon product right now.

Don't. Let them feel their mistake and set yet another example of what will happen to your company if you treat the community with no respect. Some quick math and expected difficulty jumps shows that this 6 week delay has cost me roughly ~$2400 USD (256 chip order). We'll be lucky if we break even at this point. Yifu, do you realize what that means? That means the chips you sold us are now valued at $600 / 256 ~= 2.34 USD per chip. that's nearly an astounding 65% decline in value. Are you prepared to refund 65% of the product price back to us, or risk losing your company?

Good luck finding buyers for that gen. 2.  I will join BKK in stating that your company is blacklisted.  Zefir, Steamboat, Bunin, BKK, and others show what is possible in a professional, straight forward, get it done attitude.

Yep, boycotting Avalon. You can't go silent for 5 weeks citing reasons you provide no proof for when you're dealing with millions of dollars of funds. You sir just lost your company, watch the bitcoin community react the same way they did to BFL. Avalon is dead. You'd think they would have been smarter than this after seeing BFL the last few months. Do you have any idea how much money you've cost everyone being now 6 weeks late at a minimum? 1 week of mining in August is about the entire month of this November. You need to refund the difference in value back to us if you want any chance of surviving this PR disaster. Noone would have bought these chips for the price you charged citing a Sept. delivery date. Cough it up. Business mistakes cost money. Learn from it. That is, if you intend to stay in business.

Hopefully most, if not all of you let Avalon die otherwise. Venture Capitalists will avoid Avalon like the plague with all that risk on their ROI, and under it goes. Should treat your customers with more respect. Also, a good scandal in the news involving the recognized "founding" BTC ASIC company would garner more media exposure.

The bitcoin/mining nature of this hardware aside, even if these were just usb memory sticks for example, is still completely unacceptable and worth legal action.
The product was given a maximum delivery time of 10 weeks, that makes 6 weeks late a 60% delay on promise, meanwhile not answering their phone or email or support tickets.
And we're talking millions of dollars

One (the best) way to really fuck over Avalon's future plans is to support their strongest competition.

Every share of AM, ACTM, and iCE.DRiLL bought is another dagger in their heart.   Cool

Soon we will be disabling the pre-order of Avalon Gen1 chips and only sell the remaining stock as we phase out old technology for a new 55nm, which goes on sale for immediate delivery at mid October 2013. This 55nm will retain the same physical dimension as the 110nm Gen1, only few pads were changed so getting them up and running requires very little change to existing design. In addition, there is 2 more chip designs in the pipeline, we have decided to proceed developing Gen3 and Gen4 in parallel due to the long R&D time of low processor nodes, both of these will be a Full Custom ASIC design.

I think it would be in the best interests of the community to start "disabling" Gen2, Gen3 and Gen4 Avalon products. Boycott and let them rot with BFL.

Agreed

DO NOT BUY

Obviously none of this rounds groupbuyers will go for avalon chips ever again, I just hope others follow their example.

While we have send out some chip orders, there is currently ~200k chips stuck in custom right at this moment for about 2 weeks now,

Some chips orders are behind schedule way longer than 2 weeks!

And what he claims is full of @#$@, he would've updated Zefir, Steamboat had they actually been stuck in customs.  But no, he decides to go incommunicado and then re-appear once after filings with Interpol, FBI, and other governmental entities were filed by one of the user(s).

I agree with your claim he is full of shit. The best lie is always hidden between two truths, in my opinion one or more of the following is a lie:
1)Chip delay
2)Extortion of team members
3)New hardware

not entirely buying into the 'customs holdup' excuse.

China is #1 world exporter.  China customs cares about oppressing importers, not exporters.

Yes, importers.

Where do you think Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacture Company makes their chips?

I considered that interpretation, but decided there's less textual/circumstantial evidence for that reading.

besides, ROC sends PRC chips for assembly (and vice versa) all the freaking time, corrupt grandstanding warmongering jingoistic expansionist commies notwithstanding.

the fact it's entirely unclear speaks volumes.

TSMC has Fab #10 located in Shanghai:
TSMC Limited, Fab 10
4000, Wen Xiang Rd., Songjiang,
Shanghai, China

TSMC ships millions of chips per year, is it amazing how only Avalon's 200k small order of chips end up being targetted?
He knew about this weeks ago and not one word to Zefir, Steamboat, or Sebastian.  Sebastian called him TWICE an hour at everyday for quite a while, he gets no answer or gets clicked off.

I bought into Yifu's tall tales before, but enough already.

Perhaps they didn't bribe the right customs people?

Or tried to bribe them with bitcoins which got a subdued reaction when they pulled the QR coded paper wallet from the red envelope(s).

He's just trying to have folks think there's a deal when there's probably nothing in place.

He says there's an NDA in place.  Then makes a reference to Amsterdam and then TSMC...  tells you to fill in the blanks.   What's funny is that Ms. Sun of TMSC told one user is they don't know about BitSynCom at all and perhaps they may have been dealing with an alliance company of theirs.

NDA thing doesn't make much sense, When you sign an NDA with a fab it's supposed to keep the fab quiet, not you quiet. They might make you sign an NDA over things like wafer defect rates or something.

NDA could be with some investors
, though.  According to Yifu there is some kind of deal going through, related to what was said in the WSJ.

That would make sense, it would have to be significant enough for BitSynCom to move into a different phase.
