In response to the op, it is commonly said that a tree does not make a forest, and there is a reason for that, and that reason is that, one tree is not strong enough, and can not give the type of shade a forest needs to be called or referred to as a forest.

What am I saying, families are like a forest and same way a tree does not make a forest, same way a person does not make a family, and as a family, what affect one should affect others, this is why it's called family.
In a family where one person is addicted to gambling, and the rest of the family members feel comfortable like nothing is happening, then it simply means that such family is not united as one, for if one person is having financial difficulties, it is the responsibility of the other family members to help that one out.

So indeed, addiction to gambling is not something that affects just one person, except the person Is alone and doesn't have a family, but in a case where the person has a family, that addiction surely would affect the other people in that family, therefore, such is no longer a problem of one person but have become a family problem, some thing they can come to together to find solution to.

Of course, there are many indirect victims of gambling addiction. Can you add more?
It seems quite clear that everything you have written represents all the bad effects of addiction because the most important thing is the family, relatives, people around you and the future of the addict.
If we talk about anyone who will be affected by the bad effects of this addiction, there will definitely be no end to it because it includes most of the people closest to them who will definitely experience this badness.

I've seen people who are addicted and I know him but not very closely and what he did was he indulged in his addiction to the point that he had to sell his house even though his wife had sold all the things she owned until her children couldn't go to school because her husband used the money for gambling and in the end his wife asked to separate and now the person is depressed because of his own addiction losing his home, wife and children.
this is quite a simple example for anyone so that we can avoid addiction or lose a bright future and remain a healthy gambler and remain consistent with our own limits.

Yeah it seems like this problem is already become a norm right now because anyone can gamble using a cellphone even it's the cheap one. It's really sad to see the hard workers in a family only live from paycheck to paycheck because the money is used to buy monthly needs and they can't save the money because the gambling addict will steal the money.

Now I warned him about dragging others into his mess, if he plans to be irresponsible about gambling he should face it like a man and go down alone without dragging others around him into the mess.
Even you've said this, believe me, he won't face it like a man because he wasn't think about the future. If he's a man, he won't become a gambling addict in the first place.

I have a similar problem with a family friend that I call a brother, he is addicted to gambling and I keep telling him to stop but he won't, I tried teaching him how to be a responsible gambler but he can't help it.

Now I warned him about dragging others into his mess, if he plans to be irresponsible about gambling he should face it like a man and go down alone without dragging others around him into the mess.

This is my own way of living, if I am to go down I go down alone, I take risks that I only can handle, in my own world no one cares about me but myself, and I apply this fact to my life, I learn to clean up my shit by myself.

We care less about these people as they don't care about us as well. That is how bad the addiction affects relationships as many people will stay away from us even some of our family members and close friends. But we don't think about it instead, help ourselves to prevent from falling into addiction because many people will start to hate us if that happens.

I think this depends on the culture of your country because here in my country, Asian country specifically. You can’t continue your addiction without receiving heavy scolding from your family and criticism to your neighbors. You can’t become a gambling addicts here without noticing by others or being ignored since everything here can be gossip against you.

Actually being ignored when you have problem sometimes works well since you can’t affect them. They don’t think about your problem which means you’re the only one affected and not your family. On this topic, I’m skeptical why a gambling addict will show his problem on family while this problem typically being kept and not shown since it’s nothing to be proud of.   Huh

That is true that addiction, when someone becomes truly addicted he forgets everyone and cares for nothing except gambling and fueling this devilish passion which brings nothing but misery in the long run.

I have said it some other times but repeating is always good for this, when I was young and used to go to the biggest lotto club/casino I remember well 2 persons who in life had lost everything because of gambling, wife, family, work and they were the true image of failure in life yet they kept staying in that casino every day since morning till evening.

Of the many who answered who was indirectly affected by gambling addicts, the average answer was those who were close to the addict himself, whether it was family or friends in his neighborhood, maybe for family it must be clear because they have blood relations and other things like that, including friendship.

The funny thing about friends who are indirect victims of gambling addicts is that when someone who does not know gambling but hangs out with gambling addicts, he will be said to be a gambler too by residents, this claim often occurs in environments where gambling is considered very bad, including in my neighborhood, even though that person does not know gambling at all but is also labeled as a gambler because the gambling addict who has been recognized by residents hangs out with him.

If you live with a gambling addict and you have no way to move to other place, it's better to create an agreement letter that the family or people who live in your house didn't responsible with the gambling addict debts, so in case he's in debts, you don't need to worry.

With gambling addictions, a person will become addicted to gambling by watching gambling every day better to leave gambling companions and stop going anywhere related to gambling. Play is a fun thing but not all games are fun. such as gambling. Although gambling is played in the name of gambling it is essentially something different from playing. Gambling is a game with which the issues of addiction and addiction come up very strongly. Once an addiction has developed both time and energy are wasted on gambling. Even after hundreds of attempts there is no change in the habit.
I'm not sure why you can say this, it's like gambling is bad and no one should try to gamble otherwise they will become an addict.

Indirect victims of our addiction are those people who never feel worried about our situation. These are the groups of people who don't bother to help you out of addiction even some of your friends and family members can be considered as one of them.
sadly but they are also the victims because sometimes we are even stealing money from our family just to gamble .
I have seen this in my cousin that steals His mothers ATH and withdraw thousand of dollars just to gamble back in College days.

Of course, there are many indirect victims of gambling addiction. Can you add more?
There is a psychology that says, there people who depends on your success to succeed in life.

This statement applies to gambling addiction, if one becomes addicted to gambling to the extent that he or she couldn't make a living, it's certain that at people whom if he was successful would have become successful too through him may not be successful any more psychologically but it can also be falsifiable.

Imagine that of you make it in life and open a company, and you have 1000 workers depending on the salary you pay them just, imagine that you failed to be successful because of gambling addiction you have indirectly caused a 1000 people to be jobless at some point and at the same time some of the can even become poor and broke forever because you failed go do right by yourself. its just a little truth.

My mentor used to say that a human soul starts to live the moment he depends on himself, don't let others be the driver of your future success he said, if you fail it's your failure, at least you believe in yourself, if you believe in other and the other failed, you don't become stronger, the other just did, because the other person is the one that made the wrong choice, you become nothing.

This is why some people run away from others when they noticed that they are into gambling, they run because they believe that gamblers always drag down everyone around them, they make stupid decisions that will affect everyone around them, so they run away from them to avoid all this.

I don't like my life decisions hanging on the neck of a fellow human being like me, this is why I don't like relying on a single decision, anything could make it not to work, so I plan other ways too, if one doesn't work another will, and relying on a gambler or someone who is into gambling is not a good idea, we are not even promised tomorrow.

When someone promise you something tomorrow they might not wake up in the morning.

There's a saying in my dialect that translates that it's the relatives of a mad person that feels ashamed, instead of the mad person, so you don't really blame the family of a gambling addict when they try to offer help to the victim out of love, because of the shame that he's bringing to the family. I've seen a gambler who scammed their town's association and squandered all the money, using large portion of it to gamble, in the end he lost everything, when the town association found out that he was the scammer, they decided to confiscate the family's property, then the family members had to contribute to pay every penny that he stole. It was traumatizing for the family members to bear the shame and repay money that an irresponsible family member scammed the town association.

Well, the symptoms of gambling addiction can have major bodily ramifications, and some people will go to extreme lengths to satisfy their desire even if they lose. However, some people may be unaware that they are being affected, and this can lead to debt, job loss, divorce, and even homelessness, as well as depression, guilt, and mental disorders as a result of the damage they cause themselves, as well as health problems such as high blood pressure or heart disease, so it is best to gamble with caution to avoid any negative side effects.

Gambling addicts are more indirect victims families with them live in bad conditions. They forget that they have a family and are more engrossed in gambling. They don't hesitate to borrow when they can't repay the loan I have heard many stories of stealing and selling household items. To solve this problem the person has to come to a decision on his own that it is better to get out before something is destroyed.

although unfortunately gambling addiction is a disease that has destroyed society, it is still not a greater number than drug and alcohol addiction. Governments are very tough when it comes to gambling, they put harsh measures against gambling, even going so far as to ban gambling in some countries. Certain religions also prohibit gambling, so the number of people who gamble worldwide is very small in relation to the number of people who consume alcohol. I don't want this comparison to say that we shouldn't take gambling addiction very seriously. But we also need to look at other things that are causing greater harm. governments don't ban beer companies, they don't ban wine companies, whiskey companies, they don't ban gin companies

because governments understand that alcoholic beverage companies are not to blame, the fault lies with the people who abuse alcohol. I agree with that, now I don't understand why governments don't have the same understanding with gambling and why people suffer from bullying when they gamble and when they become addicted to gambling. For example, if a person becomes addicted to beer, people are not shocked, they deal with the problem in a milder way even though they see that the person is destroying his life and the lives of his family and friends and even his neighbors, this It also happens to people addicted to drugs. society is lenient when it sees that a person is addicted to drugs, they do not pursue the source of the drug and arrest the drug suppliers

now when society discovers that a person is addicted to gambling, they condemn that person and governments quickly accuse the casinos and put harsh measures against the casinos, in my opinion we have to look at the addiction in an alarming way and that it must be focused on the addict, treat the addict so that they are cured and always carry out campaigns to warn people about the danger of exaggeration, the danger of abusing things. Addiction is something that destroys a society, which is why it is very important to avoid addiction. An addicted person will commit crimes to support the addiction

@OP has mentioned indirect victims of gambling addiction because these are the people who are often contacted by someone who gambles so they can fulfill their desire to have money to gamble. People who gamble don't think about other people's feelings because they just want to have money to be able to continue gambling.
They will not see what impact it will have on other people because for people who gamble frequently, it is not necessary and they will let other people suffer the consequences. This has become a big problem for people who gamble and the people around them because at least the people around the gambler have to bear the problems caused by the gambler.
Maybe if it's only once or twice, it's not a problem, but if the gambler can't control himself, the gambler can cause even bigger problems to the people around him. The people around the gambler should be able to help find a way out of the problem the gambler is facing so that he can realize his mistake.

Gambling messes things up for more than just the person playing. Families get hit hard because relationships break down, trust goes out the window and it's like the gambler forgets their partner exists. Money-wise, it's a mess too. Debts, selling stuff and sometimes even hurting family members and  those trying to help end up in the chaos, becoming partners in a losing game. So yeah gambling addiction isn't just a personal problem, it's a wrecking ball that smashes through everything in its path

Job? Business? Those things.
Imagine if a gambling addict cannot take care of his business anymore because he is drowned in his addiction. It means no more time to do whatever is needed with that business. Even if a business owner has helpers to do the job, he must still manage it so that it won't crumble that could lead to bankruptcy.
If it is a job, I can tell base on experience that it could affect your performance by a lot when you start gambling. Yes, not just the gambling addicts but even those who just gamble occasionally. There will be times that we want to chase our losses and that will linger in our minds making us unable to work at our full focus.
It could also be mean that our jobs can be on the line if our supervisors caught us idling or doing something else that is not work related. It will be better if we can forget about gambling while we are at our work or business. There's nothing good that it give to us, it should only be done at our free time or if we are resting and wanted a little bit of entertainment.

To the list of indirect victims of gambling addicted I can add work colleagues. If their work depends from the work addicted person do, then those who work with them are in danger of either having their work done incorrectly or havent done at all. Based on a topic Who among you here is gambling at work? people either gamble at work or have such gambling addicted colleagues. This is actually a serious problem, as a person can get fired because of them.

As with any addiction, the effects of addiction to games of chance and betting do not fall on the gambler alone. It affects the family, friends, relatives, and everyone around him, and may lead to the deterioration of their conditions.
Gambling indeed has many impacts on its users, but apart from negative impacts, positive impacts have also been felt by the users themselves, including family, friends and also the surrounding environment..
You have just dropped a piece that I have been on with, pondering about it whenever I read about gambling addicts. Is it that they prefer the negative aspect of the impact of gambling on them tuan the positive that a whole lot of gamblers that are not addicts are testifying of . In as much as you don't have to be an addict for you be guaranteed a lump win in gambling I see no reason why gamblers should allow themselve's into addiction.
Its because that is mostly the end game of those gamblers, they will eventually end up being addicted just because they let themselves to let loose and let their greed to take over, but sometimes what's making gamblers addicted is because of tthe regret of losing money from gambling and they will try to recover their loss and eventually without a notice that they are letting themselves to become addicted to gambling, but for those addicted to gambling that letting other people around them involve because of his addiction is the worst, it means that the gambler is not in a good state anymore because he doesn't carr about other people around them, normally their family and friends, worst if they already have their own family imagine the situation that family will be in.

So if you can't control yourselves anymore, at least don't let other people be affected and involved in your problems; they may help you, but if they do wake up, it means they are ready to be involved in your chaotic life just to help you.
it's for the avoidance of the chase of loss to recover money that gamblers are extolled to gamble with the money they won't find hard to let go at a loss of it. The venture for a recovery of money lost while gambling has a very percentage of causing more loses than it can lead to a recovery and this is something past experience and stories of gambler's has proven. Yet some gamblers don't want to learn from those experiences.
