If a gambler has become an addict, his priorities do not include his family. He gets pleasure from gambling, not from a walk in the park with his children. Such people need the help of specialists and rehabilitation, and until this is not available, such people try to distance themselves from the family. When a gambler crosses the line of gambling addiction, then talking in the family circle about his problems becomes unbearable, so gambling addicts may well cause harm to those around them.

It depends on the level of addiction, I am not an expert so can't really comment on the specific stages but from layman's view we can differentiate a person who is in the early stages of an addiction and another individual is at the extreme so better not just categorize every one addicted kind of abuser to their family because in most cases they don't much harm but due to their addiction they also don't know what needed to be done to get rid of it that is why it is always be open with someone in your family so you will not feel alone. I must remind that the feeling of loneliness is one of the primary reason for someone to get addicted to something.

I think you pretty much covered it, I mean, family, friends, relatives and people around the gambling addicts are the ones who usually get indirectly affected by the negative impact of gambling addiction.

now, if it is ok, I'd like to add on who gets indirectly affected by it the most. for me, the children get indirectly affected by it the most, gambling addiction can lead to divorce, neglect, abuse, etc... which could negatively affect the children for a very long time that could last up to their adulthood. while I understand the spouse might also be very affected by it, children are developing humans and experiencing something as traumatic as what I mentioned could heavily affect their development which would ultimately affect them for most of their lives.

The only situation you can gamble and it affect the family is when you see a gambling as a means of survival and also only source that can give the highest money that you needed on Earth is when you will be addicted fully in gambling without any remorse and any site thinking of gambling, I do emphasize and gambling based on I know quite well and gambling have to do with the experience and also timing and for you to win gambling it is based on luck and opportunity so you don't have to involve yourself fully in gambling to the extent that it will affect your family and it is not also good to be gambling addicted when you are not retired from any government job or you are not up to 50 years in age to 60 years in age

You have mentioned most of the impacts of gambling addiction, but each person has a different level of addiction so the impact will be different for each individual. What's worse is if the gambler gives up on his situation and decides to commit suicide, in my area there has been one victim who chose to hang himself because he was unemployed but had a lot of debt. There was also a husband who chose to run away from home to avoid bank debt collectors who always came to collect his debt, while his wife had returned to her parents' house, bringing her child with her.

Every activity that makes us addicted usually has a negative impact, and gambling is an activity related to money, so the main problem that occurs is financial. So before we become addicts, it's a good idea to start controlling our finances before we regret it in the end

Addicted gamblers who tend to suffer this type of situations can be literally be helped if they want to be helped, and the only way to help this gamblers is to follow them up gradually and not to approach them with hostility as that my even get them to do even worse. The effects of these addictive gambling on the relative of a gambler is usually seen most times in their financial capabilities where they will probably suffer for the lack of funds to be able to carry out most of the needs they will be needing in the family and generally, these addicted gamblers should be some times helped with some remedies that will get them to stop or quit entirely.

Family members or relatives should discouraged them by not funding their gambling habits in some situations so that way they will be able to understand that that which they are doing is really having a negative effect on the family and not just them alone.

Society itself, his/her community, we will see crime rates increasing as the gamblers might commit such acts against the society. Stealing from someone, robbing people. I just saw a news that someone gets robbed after he withdrawal from a ATM, and possible that those robbers are addicted gamblers and that the money that they have stole from the victims will be used to continue with their addictions.

And the government is another one. As a results of their society getting addicted to gamblers, they will spend more money like building facilities as rehab center. And increase the police presence wherein there is a frequent crimes happening.

Close friends, maybe the addict himself reaches out to them and borrow money without them knowing that the person is already full of debt and that he is already a gambling gambling. But as friends, it's like you are bound to help him no matter what the situation is.

Or maybe if the gamblers have job, for sure he will be not productive. I remember in my case, when I was in the height of my addiction, I will gamble till the early hours in the morning in a land base casinos and then I will call in early and saying that I'm sick and can't go to work.

Typically only family and friends are the typical affected party of gambling addict since that’s the peer they usually interact. You already covered the most typical indirect victims of gambling addiction.

I think it goes beyond just family and friends, they're the most affected individuals from gambling addicts but the society that the gambling addicts are living in are also affected. Those that are addicted to gambling aren't useful to the society as they're always making problem as their addiction leads to other forms of addiction as drugs or alcohol and they begin to disturb the environment they're living in. They're also meant to be working or contributing to the growth of their society.

But since they're addicted they won't be doing that very well therefore they're affecting the people in their society indirectly. Victims of addicts include friends, relatives, their children, co workers or employees when they're the business owners as their relationship with their employees will be affected based on the emotions they're having. When they lose from gambling they will be angry with everyone.

As with any addiction, the effects of addiction to games of chance and betting do not fall on the gambler alone. It affects the family, friends, relatives, and everyone around him, and may lead to the deterioration of their conditions.

Indirectly, when we are gambling and being addicted in it, those around us will first be affected and we may be sensitive enough to know and we may not be able to sense it in some situations, which is why we have to be careful of how we are gambling in other not to be addicted in it, if the addicted gambler is not careful, his condition will become more worse to the extent that he may not be able to control anything concerning his gambling lifestyle.

Gambling has been a major problem to some family members and is still on till date, causing problem between couples and other family members, I have seen different kind of news online gambler that use a business money to gamble and the person lost, That was the end of his marriage, most gamblers has frustrated the themselves because they are not really providing money for the family. All they think is to gamble. They don’t think about anything else, Sometimes they don’t even go to work they don’t spend time with their children. Gambling has really been one of the major problems to some families people that is addicted to eat. It’s not really advisable for someone to be addicted and gambling.

There are gamblers who are not addicted to gambling or atleast they are aware of their limits.

And this thread is only about the addicted ones who get themselves caught in difficult situation which does reflect on their family too , wife/husband, parents and sometimes siblings too depends on the age category.

It's hard but that's the truth so everyone who wants to get short term pleasure should be cautious while approaching or else they could be lead to loss of their joy in their life.

And addicted gambler and his addiction on gambling can be very dangerous for the family and friends at the same moment. I think only one gambling addicted person is enough to destroy a family. I have seen lots of incidents like that gambler make debt by playing gambling and the family got on the trap. And I have seen that an gambler take money from his friends for gambling and leave away after losing the fund. So yes it is true that friends and family can be indirect victims of gambling addiction.
That's right, everyone who has experienced an addiction to gambling will of course be able to easily carry out bad actions when they have the desire to gamble and they don't have the funds to gamble and the people who most often get these actions are the people closest to them who they want. ask for money for various reasons they give and after they get the money they will use it for gambling.
That's just one among the several side effects of addictive gambling, it's very tragic that gambling addiction makes people to manipulate and lie to their loved ones just because they can get money to fund their gambling habit. Sometimes it may not really be the fault of the victim, because some people who find themselves in such a situation fight tooth and nail to break through but the addiction may have eaten too deep into them that it seems almost impossible for them to break through and even when they don't wish to, they just find themselves doing some of those things being driven by their addiction.
On the time that you do find out yourself on such extreme addiction then it would be always ideal that you should really be telling your family or loved ones in regarding about your addiction and not
really just that trying to hide it from them. Its understandable on why those addicts would really be hiding such thing is that they dont like on being scolded and being criticized on which it would really be
just that a normal approach and reaction or thing in mind with those persons who had been suffering with such addiction. It is really that impossible that you cant be able to determine
on what are the things that you are doing but well when extreme addiction hits then there's no limit for someone to do on whatever he does have in mind.

For sure it would really be affecting out into those people who is around you not only on emotional aspect but surely mainly on financial aspect.

Let's face it, gambling can be fun... until it's not. We've all heard stories of how someone's gambling habit goes sideways, leaving a trail of financial stress, broken trust, and hurt feelings in its wake. It's like a bad roommate who never leaves and trashes the place – not cool. Gambling addiction can wreak havoc on finances. Debts pile up, savings vanish, and loved ones might get dragged into the mess, having to help pay off the bills. This financial strain puts a huge damper on everyone's mood, turning family game nights into "who wants to avoid the debt collector?" nights. Not exactly a recipe for fun.

It's not just the money; the emotional toll is massive. Watching someone you care about struggle with addiction is tough. It can lead to feelings of helplessness, anger, and frustration for everyone involved. The gambler might feel ashamed and isolated, pushing loved ones further away. It's a lose-lose situation.

I would like to think that once an individual has gotten to a leadership position in life mostly which comes as a result of the experience they have gotten which has elevated them in a certain area of life, they begin to attract admirers and mentees. They become mentors to young aspiring minds. That's those who look up to the leaders and their leadership prowess and someday wish to be like them.

These are the people I believe are indirect victims because the mentor might have a gambling addiction problem that is well hidden from day light and be well indebted or be in a mentally unstable way while parading as a diplomat or academia and be well loved and admired by all who know less.

Now I can only but magine how heartbroken and disappointed the mentees will feel when they get to find out their beloved mentor has a secret gambling addiction that has eaten deep into his financial life and has destroyed his career and family and has made the mentor become homeless.

When there is no awareness from a person who gets addicted to gambling about the impacts that other people can get, they can not see the impact but the other people will feel the impact. The people around the addicted person will get what that person do and that is bad for them because they don't know how to solve the problems. If they can realizes that person addicted to gambling, they will ask that person to cure himself so they don't give the bad impact to other people. We know that his family will feel the directs impact due to his addiction to gambling but the addicted person will not realize that because they only focus with their gambling activity. The indirect victims of gambling addiction will be his friends around him and other people who doesn't knowing him closer because he can borrows money from other people easily to continue playing gambling. The other people then asking his family to repay the money because of him.

Usually the indirect victims could neither be wife/husband or your closest family members on which if time and financial has been compromised then expect that
results could really be affecting out into those people who is around you on which gamblers whom had been addicted with gambling wont really be tending to look after those things
as long they do have that kind of addiction towards themselves on which it is really that sad. People around you would really be trying out to help you to resolved out that addiction
on which they do know that they would really be affected once this thing would really be lasting out or comes to that severe point or condition.

It is really just that sad that there are tons of relationships that had been crushed up due to too much addiction on which we do know that
regrets do always comes at the end and not from the start.

There isn't a single victim of gambling addiction, as we live in connected chains of social relationships. It's well known the most affected ones besides the addicted himself are the family members, especially children, as we have already discussed on this forum several times on different threads and opportunities. However, it doesn't end there. Gambling addiction has as one of the main negative impacts damage to financial structure of the family, which will directly impact their purchasing power and access to different services, including a very essential one: education.

If you can't give proper access to education for your children and even for yourself and your wife, you are going to stay behind in a very competitive society and world like ours. Moreover, it's less money you are going to have to inject in your local community and economy, so everyone who are potential services providers around you will suffer, because they are seeing potential customers falling for addiction.

Imagine a society where addiction is spreading fast and taking control of everyone. How are these people going to have money to pay for a living and keep the economy going on? That is not possible, therefore, total decadence is just a matter of time. In conclusion, to answer your question, it could be said that indirect victims of gambling addiction are every individuals of a society, when addiction rates have become an epidemic.

I think mostly the family of the addicted gambler is affected by his actions. With something that definitely if he has control, it would be a different case. I think it's mostly about the fact that if he is neglecting responsibilities, that would result in the poor action that he has. He has no way of making it back since he is addicted. I think the wife/husband that he/she has would have that kind of indirect effect because of gambling. The amount of pressure the spouse receives if it gets out or something would make them very judged or affect the person's mental stability.

You really need to admit it to yourself if you are experiencing something similar.
