there is an indication that it will happen in 2018 because it is supported by slow growth and perhaps cryptocurrency will become mainstream

Not totally mainstreamed but likely "known". It's the time where people all over the world have the idea about cryptocurrency but doesn't really have the "idea" what does crypto and blockchain do. I guess it will take 1-2 years to be fully mainstreamed since Ripple is donating millions of dollars to top Universities all over the world to have a collaboration to support and accelerate academic research, technical development, and innovation in blockchain and cryptocurrency. It can affect cryptocurrency big time.

Bitcoin creates value for both earlier investors and for new ones, providing more and more opportunities for using currency, the amount of which, moreover, is limited. It's not deceit and not stealing, but just the good old law of supply-demand in action, or in other words, the ancient economic principle, in the service of the newest currency system.

Too optimistic a prediction. 2018 will be another great year for bitcoin. What with a number of countries like Australia, Germany, Switzerland, South Korea to name a few, taking the lead on adapting cryptocurrency. Other countries would surely follow suit or get left behind.

The 2018 block chain era of large navigation officially opened, brave people get treasure...
The blockchain will succeed and the cryptocurrency will succeed, but the final protagonist is not necessarily Bitcoin.

I think Bitcoin and other crypto become well known in 2018 but it still can't be said as mainstream because there are still some rejection and the fame still not too big, it will need more big companies to support or the approval from the government
Probably, from the very beginning of 2018, the mainstream of bitcoin and other cryptocurrenies are in downward trend. Evidently, it’s popular enough to get a huge demand, but the banning policy of most country’s governments keeps happening incessantly, which makes most of coin users have a limitation in such a big market. However, it’s cool that recently some big company such as Samsung is supporting bitcoin. This gives coin users have a big movitation to join in bitcoin again, therefore the mainstream of bitcoin is going to increase incredably now.

The truth is that the anticipation for crypto to go mainstream increases as time goes on. In fact there are skeptis who would have nothing to do with crypto unless it goes mainstream. Is 2018 that year when blockchain crypto goes mainstream?

It wont be a surprise to me if 2018 is that year bitcoin will go mainstream,  consistence interference of government, news from the anti-bitcoin media has really caused a great set back to bitcoin and concurrency generally from hitting the mainstream all this while but there is possibility that this year may be that year we have been waiting for

Opinion leaders from traditional business are afraid of cryptocurrencies. It is important for them to know that all market participants are brokers, specially trained. The market is subject to their laws. But cryptocurrencies are spontaneous. We make them. Yes, they depend on the mood is not the most educated crowd - we all caught their laws on the move. But the crowd is power. And if there is a blast wave-it will not stop. Yes, we grow on emotions and faith, but it will push the crypt up to unimaginable heights. It's public money, not a couple of fatties. Undoubtedly this is the mainstream, note how many jokingly advertise bitcoin. I think that makes sense, doesn't it? Wink

Cryptocurrency has been in the mainstream for long but the results of government consistence interference and negative news from the media has make it stay underworld. I don't know what has change in 2018, that will make crypto different to mainstream.

This is bound to happen no matter how it takes. This year looks promising though. Bitcoin is gainnibg more attention on daily basis and with time, everyone will just key into it. Blockchain Technology is here to stay.

Since Crypto has still been labelled as underground currency between peers ,  people are afraid to invest in it because of their risk averse nature. IF by 2018, crypto can go mainstream with popularity in the media, then crypto will be trusted by majority of people.

It is mainstream in 2018, even those who don’t know much about cryptocurrency at least once heard about bitcoin. When BTC reached crazy prices, media, internet, everything was about it and a lot of people understood it could be profitable. So many people decided to invest or became bounty hunters. As a proof there are a lot of new ICO`s every month, new altcoins, so many bounty hunters and all these confirm the great demand.

Cryptocurrency has faced lots of trouble in the recent past that we cant be sure f what the future has for it, there are however hopes for growth in the near future, 2018 itself started on a very worrying note with a number of coins losing value  due to a decline in the market, the trend has continued with slight recoveries though this year has been characterized by the red zone, if things were to turn over and more people adapt crypto then it would be the best thing to happen to the market

No it was year 2017 that cryptocurrency has gone mainstream and got the attraction which resulted to raise the market price so high that it almost reach to 19K USD. This is why i consider 2017 as the year for bitcoin and other crypto. HOwever, year 2018 has still to prove that somehow it could break another record on its peak price within the next few months. Well we should matter the present market price movement of cryptocurrency for the next few months with bitcoin.

Can't agree more. 2017 marked the entrance of cryptos into common public. It's not associated with crazy geeks or drug dealers anymore, but it became more rationalized and that's a step forward, which we obviously couldn't skip

Crypto currently can not go mainstream, because of small user group. For example, Mastercard is used by 25 000 banks, see here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastercard. But crypto user group is very, very small compare to this, so crypto can not go mainstream neither this year, neither next years.  Wink

Not really. Mainstream adoption will take more than a year to take full effect. As we can see bitcoin is even facing huge challenges and price drops  though even with these things happening, we're seeing more and more crypto transactions taking place. So mainstream adoption is slowly happening but it will take a lot of time.

Different countries have different attitudes towards the cryptocurrency market. It is true that 2018 is a mainstream year, it is called mainstream "adoption" and like any other adoption, it will also take time. Actually block chain technology has gradually become mainstream.
