Investing in alt coins can give you massive returns on your investments. It all depends on the nature of investment , at what time you are buying the coins and what time your are trading. Time plays crucial role in cryptocurrency. Yes risk is equally involved in cryptos. Probability is 50:50

I dont think investing in altcoins is now dangerous. At present its price is quite cheap and many investors have waited for this for a long time. Why not buy it and invest long term to make big profits for the future? That would be a mistake when you hesitate to buy altcoins now. Because in the future, its price will not be as cheap as it is now! 
I don't think so, instead, now is the right time to invest because a bright market will soon appear around 2019 march, just my speculation

altcoins follow btc price... anyway when btc rally starts some coins will follow it too. not all though
I think, all coins have a high risk and how risk depends on what coins you invest because each coin has a different development, you should stay calm because now almost all coins have a low price but will definitely rise again
It will depends on what altcoin you're buying since a lot are becoming a ground for pump and dump scheme. You should check first the chart and discussion about this project before investing. A lot of altcoins are good for long term holding.

It's depends on what AltCoin do you want invest. Two things that an investor needs are timing & direction. both must be analyzed at the same time. Like choosing an altcoin that has very strong fundamentals & has a good chart to invest.
It depends on what altcoin do you prefer to invest. But preferably, ethereum is a really nice pick to invest in. You can buy eth with a lower price. You may think that it is pretty risky but one characteristic of eth is its volatility like bitcoin. It may dump at this moment but soon it will regain its value.

yes it is the biggest risk when investing in Altcoin and you can see it now that all coin prices fall for now far unlike in 2017 ago. I think there are some people crying now because they bought Altcoins at high prices and it was very sad.
I think the risk is small because most likely the price of coins will not fall below. And maybe soon the price will start to rise.
to invest in crypto currencies does have a high risk but if you have the right and patient strategy then investing in altcoin is not a big risk
