In my country , Bitcoin is totally illegal because the goverment has no solution to control it so that's why they list it on the illegal list even they don't know anything about it Smiley

Bitcoin is legal or not it's all depending on how that goverment looks at it.
If the goverment see it's potiental and positive so absolutely it's legal ( Japan , US )
But if you're looking at the negatives so 100% it's illegal ( Korean, China,...).

In a paper posted on his personal blog, cholilnafis.com, the man born in Sampang, East Java, explained, "some scholars say, Bitcoin is the same as money because it becomes a medium of exchange accepted by the general public, the standard of value and the means of saving. in recognition of the general public because there are still many countries that reject it. "
What KH Cholil discloses is true. Let alone in Indonesia, abroad also the presence of Bitcoin still sparked a debate. Starting from politicians, banking circles, entrepreneurs to top world technology companies, busy to comment on Bitcoin. Thus, continued KH Cholil, Bitcoin position as a tool of exchange according to Islamic law is allowed, but on condition that there must be handover (taqabudh) and the same quantity if the same type.

Bitcoin is a digital currency and it is worldwide usage cannot be stopped saying it is illegal in a specified country. You can transact or exchange in other part of the world who accepts bitcoin if any of the countries you live says bitcoin illegal. They can just ban bitcoin in their country but cannot say bitcoin is illegal just like that for a worldwide accepted digital currency.

bitcoin is legal or not depending on the policies of individual countries and also depend on the function of the bitcoin itself. If used for the positive then the bitcoin is arguably legal.

Bitcoin is legal. The only thing that it makes bitcoin illegal are the illegal transaction that being made using bitcoins. We all know internet is vast and unprotected. Bitcoin can be use as another method for corruption. Other country are trying to minimize the usage of bitcoin or worst they are banning it since they cannot regulate bitcoin and transaction online can be really hard to find.

What about those countries which banned Bitcoin? What can you say about them?

Bitcoin is illegal only in those countries where it is not allowed. And where it is allowed, it is legal. I very much wait when in our country bitcoin will become legal

yes bitcoin is partly illegal. and all this depends on the specifics of the country. There are countries where bitcoin is legal. And do you know what kind of countries are these?
Japan belongs to those countries in which crypto-currencies are not prohibited for use. The regulatory and legal framework, thanks to which the crypto currency will be legalized, has been developed, but so far, small changes have been made to it. After everything is ready. In Japan, they are going to start actively introducing the digital currency into the economy.

there is a difference between one place to another, it depends on the policy of each government of a country, there is a state that legalize there is also a ban. countries that prohibit bitcoin or altcoin or financial technology (fintech) are generally a developing country, they do not want their developing economies to be disturbed by fintech.

Bitcoin is legit. I was a bit annoyed yesterday when a friend of mine mentioned during our hangout that we should avoid bitcoin because it is utilized by scammers. He seemed to forgot that scams exist on fiats too. And the old banking system is scammy.

It depends on where country do you live at. Some consider it illegal because they can't control it and don't know why its price is so high. Some just don't trust btc because they're may be traumatized by some other scammers like pyramiding.

Yes, as many other thread-replies mentioned, the legality of bitcoin largely depends on what you're doing with it, and where you reside, including for instance whether u declare and pay your taxes after selling it, in the US for instance.

Also note that the whole crypto mkt is new and regulations are constantly evolving, so what is legal/illegal today might not be tmr.
