I believe that 20-30% of Ethereum should be kept by everyone in their crypto-currency portfolio. I have an Ethereum of 50% of total assets!
it seems to me 5-10 years for etherium it is a lot. for such a long perspective, I would choose a smaller coin, more promising, for example EOS.
Technologies will evolve. Advanced versions are and will be launched. Ethereum provides a lot of control and helps to build contracts. However, it is still not bulletproof. The community is working on Ethereum technology advancement to POS. I believe it is good for long term. However, holding for long-term totally depends on your risk appetite and things are ever changing.

Ethereum is actually one of the best projects to hold for long-term. The team is doing a lot of progress and working a lot to improve the ecosystem. I am sure once Ethereum implements sharding we will see a great boost of power. Also there are a lot of projects helping to improve this ecosystem and Ethereum is funding them. As well we will get further ERC-standards like ERC-721 for example. This might be a big step for the gaming industry to really use the power of Ethereum and bring items on blockchain. Of course all this is still no guarantee but if I had to invest all my money in one single coin and hold it for five years then it would be either Bitcoin or Ethereum.
