The short answer is: NO.
It is something between and investment and a gamble.
In the past you'd partecipate in ICos hoping for a rapid increase in price once the tokens hit the market. However, lately the token's price tanks after hitting the exchanges, so that it becomes more convenient to buy them there instead of at the ICO.

Right now there are many ICOs coming out, is it really safe to participate in any of it and spend that much? In participating ICOs I have high hopes that these coins could be the next Bitcoin or other currencies that are really going up in the market.
safe or not it depends on the project developer or I can not figure it out, next bitcoin? no, I'm sure there are no coins that can rival or replace popularity as the first crypto currency.

Some of those may have a potential to become succes but some are not. I should say it is safe as long as you invested what you can afford to lose, it is risky but one will need to research the team or project developer's background and their performance and also their credibility. About bitcoins, yes I agree with you mate, I think as of now no one can rival or replace the standing of bitcoin (like the hell they could just kick the pioneer cryptocurrency  Grin)

Its just about doing your due diligence and looking at it through the lens of how institutional investors review traditional startups. Solving a problem? Is it a solution? Niche? Good team? Good advisors? product? sweat equity? own equity? bootstrapping? etc. Doing this will allow you to cut out 95% of the shit. From then on you just need to see what the ICO's (post crowdsale) burn rate will be and if the founders are competent.

If i can suggest, you can invest your money when it is listed on any marketplace. If you invest when ico its to high risk you have but also high return. It can be zero if its scam project or you can be rich if its success.
But still i recommend to invest when its listed on marketplace.

Participating in ICO with large and committed community is safe. When anything happen, good or bad you are sure to be informed about it. The community will also fight when one of the commuity member's right is violated. Make sure you participate in ICO that has good community. I will suggest you look at Spectre.ai . What an awesome community you have there1

I think it is still safe, what is happening now is that the space is self regulating itself, most of the ICOs have been overvalued and the space is correcting itself that is why most of these new projects are finding it difficult to raise huge capital now

as well as investing in the offline world in a company, sometimes seamlessly make a profit, but sometimes also lose money because the company went bankrupt for example. as well as ICO, therefore be careful before deciding to invest, you should do research first on the project ICO
Yes, I also agree with your opinion. Any investment project is a bit risky. Though more or less, they always exist. The current market and ICO projects, too, have nothing to do with absolute safety. Some of the projects are also fraudulent to make money from investors. However, it is not that we do not invest. It is important that we carefully study the projects before investing. Be very careful, research all the information, development team and their roadmap. Everything must be transparent, clear and trusted by many.

See there is a word saying

"INVESTMENT ARE SUBJECT TO MARKET RISK READ IT CAREFULLY BEFORE INVESTMENT"

So all ICO's are not scam and also not 100% successful so we should analyze before participating in ICO will be safer.

I participating ICOs review or check first the white paper they had and also their platform in which scam or fake ICOs, your right many ICOs now coming out but in choosing one of them be vigilant do some time to research.
Maybe that speculation will happen in bitcoin, but we don't know what will happen in the future no one can defeat bitcoin as of now. The second is ethereum maybe this kind of coin have a potential to shine like bitcoin now.

After the recent case of the ICO ETHbooks project has scam many people. It can be say ICO is no longer safe, if people still want to participate in ICO I think you should be more careful to choose a good and safe ICO. Even promising projects like that can scam so be careful in choosing.

Participating in an ICO is very risky, but if you really study the ICO very well, and you think that the company really is going to be successful then, I think it will be profitable, but in other case, we can't deny that their are really scam ICO, so you really need to be careful on what you are participating.

It's back to you finding a good ico project and not a scam, I'm participating in ICO which according to reliable sources it is a good project, and so far it is still safe to participate, it's just that sometimes we do not get profit because ico project is not successful or at least market interest.

Currently many ICOs have used the refund and escrow option, so do not panic about it, the worst is if you invest on a coin that only gets sales from the soft cap target alone, your funds will not be refunded and you should receive unexpected results . some projects even choose to escape from responsibility after handing out coins without announcing a competent market.

It makes sense for ICO projects to start structuring ICOs so that investors get something tangible - like an equity in the company that can be enforced by the law in case if things go bad.

Participating in ICO is certainly risky. But modern life is full of risks.
Today you can lose money on a credit card in an instant. But you can always take security measures to ensure maximum security.

We're all vulnerable here in getting scam even we're too cautious as we didn't always have an eye to everything. Some ICO really looks promising as they started but unknowingly they're just trying to deceive us and will run our money and sometimes the one we're being doubtful are the one who's legit and trusted. So as I can see now, I just back off myself from ICOs and will just focus in trading.

No.

But then, it's not safe to participate in the stock market either. It's not safe to drive to work for that matter. Still, we do it anyway.

It's not safe the way a jungle safari isn't safe. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. It just means you need to protect yourself and enlist an experienced guide or two.

WeLLLL, there are always multiple risks of participating in an ICO. The first is that the project might not go well and the coins that are delivered in exchange for money will not worth anything. The biggest problems with the ICO is , that your money can be stoled.

The security of the crypto currency is not correct and someone manages to steal all the money. The most recent case is that of DAO, where more than $150 million were stolen, money that investors lost.

Another risk is that these type of operations are not regulated, and are outside the conventional financial system. This does not appeal to governments for several reasons. On the one hand because they lose control of money and taxes; on the other, because these ICOs can be used for criminal activities.
