Everyone wields different powers when it comes to business. Some say that cryptocurrency prices can be manipulated by wealthy individuals. Despite being decentralized, it seems that price movements can be controlled by specific entities.

So, in your opinion, can everything related to money in this world be manipulated? For instance, do you believe that the value of the USD or the largest stock market in the US can be manipulated by a few individuals?

What kind of people are capable of market manipulation?
Market manipulation has become an open secret that we no longer need to question its existence. Regardless of who did it, no one knows for sure. But of course they must be people or organizations or institutions that have very large capital. Or in the sense that they have very broad powers. But market manipulation also does not always happen by certain people or institutions. Sometimes a person who is good at causing a stir in the news media and spreading strange news that makes people panic can also be called market manipulation. The point is market manipulation does exist. But we don't know for sure who and how they run it.

However, what we most often encounter today is market manipulation, which is always accompanied by positive or negative news appearing on the internet that creates market hype or otherwise frightens market players.

If it is very broad in scope. Of course, open only one item and what is certain is that all are interrelated with supply and demand. If you are worried about investing large amounts of capital into long-term positions that may face market manipulation, you can always choose to trade short-term and one more thing avoid pumps and dumps by creating your own strategy and not being lured in by claims that seem too good to become true thereby helping to protect profits and limit losses.

What kind of people are capable of market manipulation?

The kind of people with a lot of money or resources. I once spoke to a mega farmer and he explained to us how he and a group of his friends, manipulate the grain price. They will store grain in massive silos, until the price goes up and when the price is high enough... then he will take the grain to the market and sell at a premium price.  Roll Eyes

Also, take the Gold price..... there are Gold syndicates that are doing the same with the Gold price... just to keep the price stable and constantly increasing over time.

People with a lot of money (Fiat whales) are using the Stock markets as their playing field and they play with portfolio managers that are playing with investors money to manipulate markets.  Angry

I don't think any person or group can manipulate the bitcoin price. If that happens, it must be a big conspiracy involving many of the world's political elites. Just imagine, who has 540,000,000,000 in cash? That is the marketcap amount of bitcoin. If you want to set a bitcoin price, you probably need to own at least 30% of the bitcoin marketcap. It's not something that's easy my friends, to manage decentralized bitcoin prices. It's different with fiat, even though the market cap is also very large, but it's centralized, they can manipulate bank interest rates, it's easier

Yes, it could be, USD and other fiat are centered on the bank which can be controlled by 1 person who has power and money. Because of that situation, bitcoin was born and created to abolish fiat hegemony. As we remember in 2008 when the Global Finance Crisis happened the fiat currency didn't have value because was controlled on the one hand. for this incident, we should be aware happen again in the future if fiat is still controlled by them.

Bitcoin's decentralization is never about its price, so whether huge amounts of Bitcoin are focused on a relatively few individuals or institutions Bitcoin doesn't cease to be decentralized. These individuals or institutions may be able to manipulate the price to a certain extent, but the network remains independent from such influence.

For as long as money is tied to the state and the banks, manipulation is unavoidable. The USD and its value are highly manipulated. The same goes to the stock market, the ForEx market, and the rest of the traditional financial market.

This is precisely the downside of Bitcoin adoption when it particularly means the old financial powers like BlackRock and company enter the game. They will create all kinds of financial instruments out of it which defeats its decentralization, P2P, independence, fixed supply, and so on.

Manipulation is of course everywhere. All you have to do is look at banks being fined for this activity to know it’s a common occurrence. Market manipulation affects us more if we are trading but less affects us if we hold our bitcoins.

Price can have big changes on market in a day, a week or a month but after one year, Bitcoin has good price growth that can help us to gain profit. If we don't trade, you can avoid manipulation effects.

Influential individuals, organisations and government have the ability to promote FUD and they can also promote FOMO. The actions of these actors can make people sell off or buy more cryptocurrencies. When the news is bad like a major hodler dumping his coins people will be moved to sell their investments because they are afraid that the price will drop further. Sometimes these market manipulators intend to make the price drop and buy back at a cheaper price. The government can also manipulate the market through unfavorable policies like bans, regulations, and restrictions.

Everything in this world can be manipulated to suit a section of the population or investors. The USD cannot be manipulated by an individual but the government from time to time manipulates the value of the dollars based on certain economic practices. There are times when the value of the Chinese Yuan was devalued to boost exports. The stock market can be manipulated by spreading false information and falsely inflating the trade, quote, or value of some stock.

In a business or trade, people who like to manipulate, are always there.
Especially as in the realm of crypto assets, stocks and other investment assets. Even though manipulating a market or investment assets, such as stocks, is strictly prohibited, because these actions can harm other investors. But still people who like to manipulate are always there. So you could say the act of manipulating is no longer strange. Likewise in the crypto market, often market manipulation is carried out by individuals or groups to achieve the goals they want (market prices). Maybe decentralized crypto like bitcoin can also be manipulated, but it will definitely be quite difficult, because we all know that bitcoin has a very large market capitalization, so to manipulate it will definitely be quite difficult and not like manipulating altcoins.

So, in your opinion, can everything related to money in this world be manipulated? For instance, do you believe that the value of the USD or the largest stock market in the US can be manipulated by a few individuals?
In my opinion, of course you can. Because currency can always be manipulated in value. But the way to manipulate it may be from an economic or political perspective. So basically the thing called manipulation always exists in almost every aspect.

What kind of people are capable of market manipulation?
In the crypto market, usually people who like to manipulate the market are people who already have abundant wealth, that's the point. So people like that can easily make news and make market price movements in a cryptocurrency. And the point of it all, for the plan to work. So in conclusion, people who can manipulate the market are people who really have a lot of finances and are very experienced in the crypto field.

As unfortunate as it is, yes manipulation is a common occurrence in the market and essentially everywhere. It is after all the best way to have a sense of control for businessmen when it comes to their consumers, as well as the demands and supply in the market. In connection, the market is controlled and there is no doubt that currencies are affected in some way.

Here is an article that shows the inside of market manipulation in relation to marketers and consumers: https://www.worldscientific.com/worldscibooks/10.1142/10839#t=aboutBook

I don't see the manipulation of assets with a certain volume and distribution by speculators as a very bad thing. Those who want to speculate on an asset with sufficient volume and distribution also take serious risks and are not always successful. For example, if we accept that the price of Bitcoin is determined by a free market, we should also accept that all the players in that market are free. Someone who wants to influence the whole market can also implement a faulty strategy where they lose all their money. Besides, without speculators the market would be as static as a dead sea. They may be morally problematic people, but I think they bring fun to the market.

as new currency, bitcoin is not yet spread evenly, this make people who have big capital will greatly influence bitcoin price if they buy bitcoin. I think price manipulation can be done through many ways, it is not only by buy or sell activity, but it also can be done by create some sentiments, regulation, and etc. but when bitcoin is mostly used by merchants and bitcoin is spread evenly then it will be harder to influence bitcoin price, the volatility will decrease.

Neither a set of individual or a single entity but we wont really be that blind on not to see those things considering that when it comes to financial capacity then everyone could really make out that huge impact towards market price when it comes to movement and its not something new anymore where this had become the standard when it comes to these kind of manipulation acts. Always those people who do have
that financial capacity would be always having that power and the advantage on moving or influencing things even if we do say that this crypto space isnt something that could be easily be manipulated
but it seems now on these years on which it is really that heading on the way where markets could really be easily be influenced or could easily be that manipulate.

This is why whether you are getting involved with stock market or forex, or crypto then dont get surprised that these kind of behavior would really be that existing or something that could be able to see.
You wont really be that able to avoid up these things since those people or institutions who do have that capacity will definitely be doing something at their advantage or something on their liking.

In the complex financial framework, the interaction between various actors and economic forces gives rise to a dynamic in which manipulation is very possible... Although the concept of decentralization in cryptocurrencies suggests resistance to manipulation, the reality is more nuanced, since the concentration of resources in the hands of wealthy agents can influence prices, since in an emerging market like this, some significant operations they can have a disproportionate impact, and considering that many cryptocurrencies are not decentralized and have little value, it makes the task of manipulation even easier

What kind of people are capable of market manipulation?

Even though the network of cryptocurrency is decentralized, its market is governed by the supply and demand.  There is also these sentiments to consider which can be played by people with higher influence and bigger stash of both the fiat currency fund and cryptocurrency.  The blockchain network is different from a marketplace so being decentralized cannot make a cryptocurrency exempted from manipulation

As long as there is human emotion included, it can be manipulated.  We have seen it on Bitcoin market on how news affect the Bitcoin market.

What kind of people are capable of market manipulation?

As I stated, those people with authority, influence, and money can easily manipulate the market.

Of course it is... Human beings are constantly trying to manipulate other people, environments and systems in order to have additional benefits and advantages which aren't disponible for the largest portion of society. That is why corruption is spread everywhere and there aren't perfect inviolable systems to fully prevent such attempts happening with success. Even inside top tier countries and religious communities we see manipulation going on.

Sometimes it's not about money, but power and influence: vanity, one of the seven deadly sins.

As long as there is benefit from something, there will certainly be beneficiaries. Mostly, market manipulation is done by whales who are able to benefit from the slightest changes, especially in the example of the dollar that you referred to.
Of course, even if the manipulation is carried out by a few individuals, this does not mean that the beneficiaries from it are also few, because there are those who will benefit from the changes in the market without having the authority to decide.

I think it is an idea that answers itself as we grow and become educated as individuals, both academically and in life training, that is, market manipulation exists and unfortunately it seems that it will always be like that.

Now, to the specific idea of what kind of people do it,  it has to do with governments, companies basically and from there some names stand out, but in general it is something known as the establishment.

In the crypto world there is everything now, from that old school and a group of individuals who present various forms of manipulation, sometimes with a simple "x". ( tweet, e.g. )

And they can do such manipulation if the market is small, they only need to inject small amount of money to make waves.
This type of action is everywhere, where a certain group or individuals is seeing they can take advantage of the situation.
I guess, it stemmed from the human nature, of being greedy. They will jump as soon as they see window of opportunity.
And we have seen a lot in alts with small trading volume. If they will put thousands of dollars, they can easily make it look like they gained 100-1000% of the price. But people should be very cautious on this type of movement as they can get screwed fast.

When it comes to centralized systems, then you can talk about market manipulations. This is very common with the government in handling fiat. They instill in the systems the conditions they need functional by simply pumping in more fiat currencies or reducing the amount in circulation. It’s a manipulation done by affecting the lack or availability of a commodity.

It’s almost the same thing when it comes to cryptocurrencies that are centralized but this ain’t the case with bitcoin. Bitcoin is decentralized and as such, no one holds that much power to create these conditions but then, institutions with large hodlings could mimic what is obtainable in centralized systems by flooding the market with more coins but it always ain’t enough until the masses join in.

Soon, you would find the coin recovering. It’s just how it works.
