Stealing can be be illegal because if you are arrested by NBI it means its illegal also bitcoin is money so its illegal to steal bitcoin to others..
of course it is definitely illegal and you cannot steal from the people because you would surely get a lot of trouble with law

Stealing could be illegal but it doesn't mean that bitcoin would be illegal, bitcoin is mean money, we use bitcoin and we earn bitcoin in a different ways. In my view, only illegal ways of earning is illegal not bitcoin.

I couldn't agree more with you, no one can say that bitcoin is illegal. But when you stealing bitcoin from other , it can say that your bitcoin balance is illegal. Illegal ways to earn bitcoin can makes your bitcoin legal or illegal.

Of course we all know that any stealing of things or something that are not belongs to you will be called as illegal. Even though no one knows you steal or theres no witness youve done that, theres one thing you cant escape, the part of your mind that makes you aware everytime is your CONSCIENCE.

this is the definition of stealing according to Merriam Webster Dictionary.

: to take (something that does not belong to you) in a way that is wrong or illegal
: to take (something that you are not supposed to have) without asking for permission
: to wrongly take and use (another person's idea, words, etc.)

the act of stealing even if it is bitcoin or not is really illegal. this is a kind of question that is explanatory. i don't know if you are just asking it because you are dumb and don't know if it is illegal or not, or you just want to improve your post count for your signature campaign?!

Agree, this question is  explanatory  even  in commonsense you could answer directly this question without being asked to anybody. Maybe hes dumb enough that he doesnt  know whats the definition of stealing to him. As he said  he generate an address which theres already  a bitcoin inside it, if  he try to get those coins then its considered stealing. No questions asked.

You have a point, there's no need to ask this kind of question since yourself could even do that. Stealing is illegal in any way, anything that you stole or get without the owners permission or notice then it's considered illegal. No matter how big or small amount is if you get those then you commit such crime.

It would be like accidentally brute force the address, and I think brute force is usually considered illegal or at least immoral

Let's say I generate a new address and by some miracle it has Bitcoin already in it belonging to somebody else. Is it legal to just take it? I understand those odds are very low, no need to lecture me, I'm just interested.

It is illegal. You gained access to somebody else's goods.
But, assuming that the original owner tracks you down, it will be very difficult for him (in many countries) to prove that you stole something valuable from him and also to be taken serious by the authorities.

I know of case when the owner tracked down his smartphone that was stolen, called the police from the front of the thief's house and they didn't go inside, since they needed a warrant.
And nobody gave that warrant only based on some pictures in dropbox... (yes, the thief made pictures all over the place and the dropbox was active)
From what I know he never recovered that phone.

He didnt intend to  generate an address which owned by someone already but considering he have the motive to get those bitcoins then its  illegal in a sense  that is stealing but  its up to his conscience  how  he would handle those situation.  He can get those bitcoins without being traced since bitcoin is anonymous at its really hard  to trace someone.

I don't think generating a new wallet address can also generate btc too even by some miracle you won''t have btc. The most possible way of having btc randomly is when someone mistakenly put your address instead of the one they are supposed to send, because of a typo error.

yes. it is an act that is against the law. any action that could harm others is an act that is not commendable. even the person will be given a prison sentence.

Is taking someone's chicken from their yard stealing, what about their car, or their bank account - even if you found the account numbers?  What is the point of asking this question? If it is not yours it is stealing.
Exactly. Stealing itself is already a crime enough, it doesn't matter what it is that you steal.
However, considering op's situation, I'm not sure how it would be. I don't think stealing is the proper word for it.

I agree with the comments. Stealing is illegal. That is similar to the computer hacking. And the computer hacking is illegal in many countries.

Since ever from the beginning of time, stealing is illegal. Even though no one is going to see you or witness that you are going to steal something then you are committing crime. And I suggest that if you don't want to happen to you, don't try to do it to others so that you are going to be safe. Karma is real if you don't believe it.

Right, even others  dont see  the crime you committed but remember that There is someone watching you from above and you cant  hide anything from Him. Stealing is illegal since its already  included in the  Ten Commandments of God if youre a roman catholic for sure you already knew this thing i dont know in other religion. IMO

where are you from? or in which country do you live? if stealing is not illegal there, i might consider moving. this should not be depending on whether you are arrested or not.
i do not think there will be a single state in this world where stealing will e legal. stealing is a criminal activity and every state and every religion discourage it and some states and religions have very hard punishment for stealing, for example in Islam the one who is stealing things and found gilty his hands must be cut off from his body.

lolzz. this is very funny, stealing is illegal at any way.. no matter if you are stealing money, stealing bitcoin or stealing anything..
I think stealing bitcoin is even more bad and not accepted because bitcoin is a currency and peoples are doing here hard work to get some bitcoins. but some ponzi scammers still do this.
the biggest examples of bitcoin stealers are cloudmining sites.. keep away from them if you want to save your bitcoins.
