Who cares if it is centralized, we are here for the money.

Money has no smell, buy XRP now and sell in 5 years, you will have a sure profit. Rest is just blababla.

While profits are definitely great, not every single of us here are here solely for the money. The profit is just a plus, but it's not the main reason we're here.

Also, there's no such thing as guaranteed or "sure" profit; even with something as ground-breaking and disruptive as bitcoin.

Based on https://coinmarketcap.com/. XRP defeated ETH again. Is there any chance that XRP can defeat BTC too in the future?
XRP resilience in position 2 is only temporary, and to defeat Bitcoin it will not happen anytime , ripple coins that are controlled by companies are not communities and this is not the real crypto coins, forever the true crypto leader is bitcoin.

Unlike cryptocurrency in general, XRP supplies are controlled by Ripple Labs.
For example: Bitcoin has only 21 million pieces in the world, after that, no new bitcoin will be issued.
for shoppers to get new bitcoins,
if XRP is mass adopted by a large institution and has a market capitalization that is greater than bitcoin, can xrp defeat bitcoin? Certainly not, because the use of XRP will not eradicate the use of bitcoin.

Ripple is the opposite of what Crypto currencies should be, because it is a centralized coin, with all anonymity stripped away. Your typical Bank or Govcoin wannabe coin. Why people still take Coinmarketcap statistics seriously are just beyond me, because most of them do not understand market cap and coin supply.  Roll Eyes

To answer your question : No, I do not believe XRP will ever beat a coin that was built for the people and not for Banks or the Government.  Roll Eyes

Impossible ripple can't ever beat the bitcoin ,the difference is marginal and ripple can't ever get all the loves of bitcoin fans ,bitcoin is more supportive than any other coins and to me ethereum still kicks ripples ass

I don't think defeat is the right term for this because it doesn't always mean that when a specific coin replaced another coin from its rank it already defeated it, XRP have a very huge supply making it easy to overtake other cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization but market cap isn't really the only thing to determine how successful a coin is. Look at the difference between XRP and Ethereum's trading volume, it clearly shows that Ethereum is still more used or being trade. It can possibly overtake Bitcoin in market cap but it will never defeat Bitcoin.

In cryptocurrency space anything is possible ,yes there is a chance that ripple can overthrow bitcoin some day ,like example if the big bitcoin followers make huge turn over to ripple and give all the love to ripple then bitcoin will lose its crown

In crypto currency everything is possible, if the banks that use the ribbel network decide that ripple should be a stable coin, with the value of one dollars and they then release all the 100.000.000.000 XRP to the market, and keeps buying on every exchange so the price never falls below one dollar, then the xrp markets cap will be greater than Bitcoin.

I can't really see this happen but it is possible. In fact every stable coin that print enough coins and have enough fiat to support there businesses can take over the number one spot on coin market cap.
However this will not make that coin something everyone would buy into. The gold in crypto are not to hold a centralizes coin with a stable price.

The fact that the ripple coin periodically ranks second in terms of capitalization and displaces ethereum in third place does not matter much. Ripple is regulated in price and capitalization, so to increase its popularity it can be done intentionally. Ethereum will remain the undisputed leader of altcoins. These two coins are completely different in order to compare them with each other.
There are only two cryptos with non security status from the US government and I think that's a massive deal. Bitcoin and ethereum and that really puts Ethereum in an extremely strong position as an altcoin.

Why would a centralized cryptocurrency currency defeat the decentralized one. The main thing why bitcoin succeed is because people like the ability of Bitcoin to free us from financial matrix and protecting privacy and anonymity. People are sick of how corrupt the banking system and XRP are no different with the centralized banking system.

Ask yourself if you're willing to support a centralise coin back by banks. If you're answer is NO, because we like bitcoin's decentralisation then I'm sure who will get your answer.

I think XRP is centralized. It will never surpass bitcoin. Who would actually buy and hold centralized coin under the technology that is initially meant to be decentralized.

XRP is centralized, and the company Ripple holds a big percentage of the overall supply; but still, it's in the #2-#3 spot. One thing is for sure, you don't underestimate the ignorance of the "investors" in the cryptocurrency space.

However, ripple will never be able to grow to the level of Bitcoin by capitalization. Between them there is too much difference in the level of capitalization.

OP, if your definition of Bitcoin's "defeat" is being replaced as the most valuable cryptocurrency in market cap, then yes. I believe there is a chance, but only in your own definition of "defeat".

But will Bitcoin really be "defeated"? No, it will only show that there will be a mass of morons who bought XRP. Cool

I mean, technically there's a chance(non-zero chance), but I really don't see it happening. Bitcoin is simply just superior in any category in my opinion(XRP probably just has more Twitter spambots 🤷‍♀️). If XRP was to defeat BTC in terms of marketcap? That's the day we know that the cryptocurrency community has gone full bonkers.
They could easily just change their supply to 10,000,000,000,000,000 and non allow it into the actual world and then boom they "have a higher marketcap". Ripple is just straight up shit and shouldn't even be considered as an altcoin, is a fucking business made crypto giftcard that buys nothing.

Impossible XRP could defeat bitcoin, how many year bitcoin still be the king of coin and never one coin could defeat how stronger and higher price of bitcoin, XRP is altcoin have lower price and more impossible could be the same with bitcoin.

It is highly unlikely that ripple will overtake bitcoin for the #1 spot.  Bitcoin has a much larger daily trading volume and a much larger userbase.  People that don't know anything about crypto have heard of bitcoin and virtually none even know what ripple is.  It is all about brand awareness and adoption and bitcoin is the clear winner in that realm.

No, Ripple isn't even really beating Ethereum, it's all fluff that is controlled by a company, they have before just changed the supply amount. They just need to do this and immediately the market cap changes and the true supply doesn't because they don't distribute it.
