As I said in my previous post, I will be more than glad if we don't go past these levels, I mean look at this:

In mid-October we were at 19.9T difficulty and price at 11.5k, we are now up 30% in price, so even if we go back to the 19T level in difficulty, we are still good.

price is good. 15,250. up from 13,632 on nov 3. about 11.8% price jump since Nov 3 jump.

I certainly will sign up for  6% in diff and 11% in price jump after jump.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
November 08, 2020, 08:35:14 AM
That looks like the true form for industrial grade mining.

I wonder if Canaan and MicroBT will also come up with the same format.

remember a few years back when there was talk about reusable cases with built in fans/psu/controller with some sort of backplane you could just swap boards out for newer ones? it never really took off iirc. but now its grown up it seems. if the rack has all plug and play cooling and power, the backplane now is the rack and the bare miners are swapped out to upgrade.

there must be some trial site somewhere where they are running them, esp those bigger mine farm.

I was hoping someone know someone, and could take some video of them in action.

mmm that new gear looks like my waiting was the right thing to do.

it can upgrade from

7nm to 5nm to 3nm to 1nm

it may be the final stage  mining gear format.

Does anyone have any specs?

or is it vapor mining gear.

It was announced yesterday/today, so I doubt anyone has it hands-on. Would love to see them in use as well, but we will have to wait.

Yeah I think a 4-7% diff can happen. It depends if we go a lot over 16k which we did not do so far.

But if we go past 16k and stay we will jump somewhat higher than 7%.

Dave you could use an s17 with a transformer

set to  980-1000 watts it would be okay with 120 volts.

That works too, but the overall cost for this project will likely be discouraging.

Back to the difficult discussion.

We are about 3 days in and seems like we are keeping the difficulty at bay, with bitcoin price hanging around the 15k levels, I would be more than happy to see a difficulty increase of no more than 3% as I mentioned before, in fact, I will still be happy with 5% increase if the price remains above 14k.

at current prices and high transaction fees, even an S9 at 4 cents per Kwh still makes 0.7$ which is a lot for S9, many mining gears become profitable at this combination of low difficulty + high fees + high bitcoin price, this is why I am not even hoping for a drop if none of the two latest factors chances.

Then use Avalon 841's dialed down to what I call TV room mode. Use low power setting and in More Options use --api-listen --avalon8-fan 10-30 to throttle down the fan. Once the miner(s) do their 3 minute warm up they settle down to a nice quiet 8-9THs pulling around 850w which is very 110v friendly.

I don't have 220 any place where I would need a space heater and many people in the US & Canada do not either.

And the S17 units, at least for me, have not been the most reliable miners out there.

Not saying that it's not possible, just saying it's not as simple as it used to be.

The s17pro set to 38th 985 watts on vnish aftermarket is good for heating. Pretty quiet but must have 240volt power.

I know it has been discussed a bit but how much of this is due to the lack of low power low noise miners.
It's getting colder here in the northern hemisphere and years ago I would fire up a couple of S1 miners for space heating around the condo.
Then it was a pair of S3 units, then an R4.

Now I either have to play around with an S9 and pull boards or???

So while other parts of the world were shutting off miners due to hydro issues or it becoming their summer people were spinning up some things to take their place.

Now I have a just about dead silent 3 GPU rig in the corner mining whatever. Putting about 900W of heat into my place on the colder days.
Instead of a few TH of BTC mining.

Quote
Fall 2020

So, this brings us to today. Mining centralization is a common criticism of Bitcoin and the narrative that many Chinese ASICs shut off seasonally appears to be valid for the fall of 2020. Where else would folks have about 48 Eh/s (30 percent of the network, as noted above) sitting idly by waiting for abundant and affordable energy? This works out to be about 3 million Antminer S9 ASIC mining units.

So, where does this dropoff rank among previous difficulty drops in the October and November time frames?

I hope you are still mining.  It would be nice to get two numbers under 10%.
And coins to go over 15k.
