kano said that bitmain is using asicboost, which everybody thought was just patented software.
now, some info came out that bitmain is using asicboost covertly in hardware...check reddit for details.
This "covert" asicboost would be negated by segwit, apparently, which explains why bitmain is so opposed to segwit.
Current exposé also explains very well why they were mining a lot of empty blocks-check it out.

I am not a specialist in soft or hardware, so don't know if such claims are true, but if they are, i expect a reaction.
It would look like bitmain rejected segwit based on very selfish motives.

EDIT: sources say that Segwit blocks can be mined with Bitmain's hardware. However, and this is critical..

tl;dr Allegedly, Bitmain sold you a miner with a hardware feature (that it has control over) that enables 20-30% 'faster' mining for them, but not for YOU (as it is switched OFF in publicly available hardware).

ok well all 15 dust payments when added up is an entire whopping 4 cents US worth of bitcoin. So i'm not going to even think about making anyone go threw haveing to send them manually.   lol I guess I might change my turn if btc ever goes to $100,000. 

Exactly why I left slush. Large power outage like 8 hrs into a 9.5 hour block and I got paid less than 1/1000th of what I was normally getting per block because my "scoring hash rate" was like 20GH/s. I would have made more if I spent that 8 hrs mining the shittiest shitcoin. 

Yep your luck has been above 100% - but your PPS reward is about 97% for your shares submitted so not doing too badly

Dust payouts are manual, I avoid them like the plague.

If was solomining and magically had the same hits along the way: 13 x 12.5 = 162.5 BTC, before any solo pool fees and without tx fees.

But the last 250 blocks' luck, I started here in early Nov 2016 so ~200 blocks found, makes my payout amount significantly lower than that.  Hoping for better luck for the rest of 2017...

and the opposite is also true with slush.  Someone could be at their full hash rate and working for a long time on a long a block, but if they drop out before the last 1hr and 40 mins or so. Then they get nothing if there scoring hash rate is back down to zero at the time the block is done. No matter how much work was submitted before that last hour and 40 mins it takes to drop to zero hash rate. 

kano? just another quick ? about dust payments.

If someone has a few tiny dust payments do the dust payments get sent out once someone has enough to be over the threshold / or do you still have to manually send all the dust payments out to some on if they ask??

Actually not; if you read the fine print, you get paid based on "scoring hash rate" at the time of block. If you catch the tail end of a block @ slush and your "scoring hash rate" is up to your actual, you get paid as if you submitted full shares the entire time.

The new method (as of a couple of years ago) is a scored PPLNS, which does make it unhoppable now.

Well I guess to expand on that point, I have made it clear, I think, why the pool isn't voting at the moment.

When I make the PH comment, I don't mean that power sways my decision, I simply mean that I'm open to 'discussions' about what to vote if they can convince me otherwise on technical or philosophical grounds.
But it's based on the fact also that even with the pool at 30PHs we really don't have a say in what happens since we certainly can't directly affect the vote outcome.
'When' we get a lot bigger, then we will have a direct say in it

However, as I've already said, if the network takes the required swing to accept an option, then those left over should also take that option.
By 'required swing' of course I mean 75% for BU or 95% for SegWit

In either case I expect that if momentum gets going above 50% for either option, it shouldn't be long after that for the rest to switch over also, but until the actual switch point, it's still undecided.

If some other option pokes it's head up that most agree with, then that could solve it also.

Edit: The bottom line is that bitcoin is a peer2peer transaction system, and if the majority says 'X' is what the system should now be, then that's what bitcoin now is.
The discussions about changing the PoW to stop a majority rule is beyond stupid.
If groups want some other alt-coin then go create it, but bitcoin is a distributed peer2peer transaction system that is not controlled by some minority that thinks they are the Bitcoin God.

I am totally with you.  It has been great!  I was so used to it that I sent an important transaction with a "high" fee.  It stinks because, as you know, sometimes manufacturers are about timing.  The low fees are great.

I think I sent at a bad time because there were 2,000-ish unconfirmed ... then, 13,000 shortly thereafter.

Cool to know. I'm sure people will be happy to hear about planning.  I only threw less than 30 TH, so you won't be missing much.  I just hope I don't find my first block, now.    

I hope I'm still welcome in this forum. I feel terrible.  I simply followed a mantra of 1 hash = 1 vote.

On some of your comments in the past about being a small pool ...  my impression is that the pool and this thread have a larger weight than measured by hashrate.  I think discussions echo out.  Signaling would be more significant than you expect, imo, and it's an important decision to make.  Let's just keep finding blocks and growing bitcoin!
