Sorry if this is explained somewhere else, but I saw the latest block was only like 90kb while most others hover around 990kb (and have ~1.5 btc more in transaction fees).

Why are some blocks like this?

it does not matter, you can have whatever you want, just don't ask me to approve your choice somehow.
besides, how is this NOW relevant to kano's pool?
I am here because i like it and I respect his opinion/dissent.

now you are posting something said a year ago, that's pre-historical.
....

It should be noted that your argument of time is meaningless as Kano's opinion/beliefs on the subject hasn't wavered (thus making every post of equal relevance, regardless of posting date).

So the vagaries of my reply are that we all need to hope that no one is stupid enough to force a fork at 50%, and then once a network fork gets high support, you know what you will need to switch to for when it activates.

If it happens at 50% then your probably best to stop using your Bitcoins until the problems die down and there's a definite winner.

Edit: 'sources' say BU requires 75% for 2 weeks, so I guess all the talk around about lower %s is probably trying to scare people into making decisions.
But anyway, if BU ever does reach 75%, that means you should have 2 weeks to sort things out.
... and the 2 weeks is probably 2016 blocks, which if there is a fork of any sort would mean more than 2 weeks.

emphasis mine.

Instead of paraphrasing him, see what kano-san actually said here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/segwit-is-a-waste-of-disk-space-1448250

now you are posting something said a year ago, that's pre-historical.
i am too lazy to find recent quote, but i just might.
This one:
2 things:

1) please stop asking about segwit over and over, your multiple posts on the subject have been answered many times.

2) a currently smaller than 1% pool will not "significantly reduce the likely hood of a contentious fork"
*
?

"2" was obviously an addition to "1", not a "new perspective" or "new thought on the subject". Wink

Nov 2016 is close to ancient history.
Not sure how the date (of 5 months ago) is relevant....

because he said something else few days ago along the lines of "stop bothering me about this; 1% pool will not shift the balance either way".

Hi Kano - are you going to signal Segwit support? I'd like to bring about 2PH onto the pool. Rob

...
Not sure anything can be more succinct:
...Really the biggest problem with segwit and sidechains is that people wont realise that no one should use it...

kano-san has been quite clear he does not support segwit - he's answered a number of times in this thread, it's hiding in here somewhere!

what he actually said was that his pool is too small to change the balance, hence not very relevant to take one position OR the other.
he delineated criticisms of segwit and said that he supports something, like BIP100.
I don't recall him saying anything about the more recent crashworthy alternative.

Hey guys is it a good idea to mine on this pool if my miners are hosted in china?
You can get lots of disconnects due to the GFW and latency will be high.
So, since I currently don't have a node in china for people to mine to - the answer is probably no.
That may change soon.

Please consider a node in China to mine to. I would switch from Slush over to you since you are the only pool whose stance on scaling I agree with 100%.
