Not too bad at all. Especially with the rise in coin price if it holds (and continues higher). I had read somewhere that coin prices have traditionally risen during the winter months. I just got up and I'm drinking coffee, so no research for me this morning. Maybe after work!

Let's get back to cracking some of these December blocks. I'm sick and tired of red!!!  Cool

A repeat of my A7 posts since people seem to be getting them now:

So ... I have an A7 mining on the pool right now Smiley
I'll add a menu a bit later so people can see my workers - if anyone is interested.
I'll post here when it's done.

Miner is actually no where near as loud as I expected - and it's 26C here
(and I have it in the laundry which is about 28C after running the dryer an hour ago)
It's hopping around 2300 to 2500 RPM for me - in the middle to low 60's dBA (i.e. certainly under 70 dBA)
It's temperature says it's 31C

Need to let it run for an hour or so to get a reasonable hash rate estimate.

For anyone who uses the default RPi image (as of today) on canaan.io - it's setup for static IP 192.168.0.100
So you may have to login to that and switch it to DHCP if you have more than one - or if you have a lot, set that in the image.

Very cool Kano!  I can't wait to see what you you get with your new toy! Grin
OK it's up and working.
Everyone logged in now has 2 extra options in the 'Workers' menu:
K.Workers and K.Graph - that shows my data below the menu (still your data above top right)

Edit: oh I'll take it down to the garage at some point later and thus it will have a short outage - but the shift will show that after I do it - it seems they start a little slower then climb up for an hour or so to get the speed right.

Edit2: though it's clear from the Workers page, you can separate out the A6s and A7s on my graph by using at the top "all" ".A6*" and ".A7*" and pressing "Update" - though it will forget your settings if you already had some for your workers.

Edit3: moved - so it was off for a bit over half an hour.

Anyone who gets an A7, I would suggest a change on the advanced web configuration page:
More Options: --avalon7-nonce-mask 26
It should speed up the hash rate ramp up.

... and 2 more changes for anyone who gets an A7 and mines here Smiley

In /etc/crontabs/root
Change the '5' to '2'
i.e. change it to:
Code:
*/2 * * * * /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor

and change /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor to check the last share, not the last work:
i.e. change line 14 from:
Code:
B=`cgminer-api devs | grep "^   \[Last Valid Work\]"`
to
Code:
B=`cgminer-api devs | grep "^   \[Last Share Time\]"`

Basically what this does is if the last share found is ever more than a minute ago, it will restart cgminer.
As I've mentioned before that's ever so unlikely here on a single miner.
But also I've found during the A7 startup it would often have to restart cgminer - and the 5->2 change speeds that up.

I used a RPi3B of my own, with a reflashed micro-SD with the 721 firmware (Nov 21), and find that my A7 won't talk to the network for reasons I simply can't figure out. I can "see" it on the router (DHCP) but it isn't actually connected (?!). I therefore can't get to the GUI to set it up to mine, etc. Anyone else had this happen yet?

I opened a ticket and expect they'll get back to me presently, so please ignore if appropriate. Just frustrated. It's the unlabeled one with the MAC ending in E6.

I feel jelly.

Freaking Fedex has my shipment since Wednesday and did not clear it yet.

Furthermore, I have to pay $143 since the COO is not stamped.

Contacted Canaan to send me a stamped COO to get my $143 back.

Will receive the miners on Saturday...what a bum.

Yeah a botnet password guesser.
I'll put it back on again soon.

It got to 'al...' trying random passwords on a large alphabetised random account name list Smiley

Good job Kano, you don't have to rush to bring it back up.  It's great knowing you are on top of things! Cheesy

What a dumbass...sorta kinda...

Time Warner Oceanic gave me a new modem a couple of days ago. Turns out it's set to 192.168.0.xxx. My router is 192.168.1.xxx.

So...I finally figure that out and just plug the damn RPi into one of the modem's RJ45s, go direct to the 721, and set it to my home network's IP plan.

Now...if I can get the damn Internet to quit dropping out every ten minutes...

Wotta day. Macheen workee, though...same noise level as the A6 under it.

For the PSU question...I'm using the configuration I used for the S7s. They're (120/240) server bricks, rackmount, 1KW each. I've got gridseed adapters with four each, six-pin PCIe leads on each brick, and then that brick feeds one side of the A7. This way no brick is having to push more than 60%, and with these higher quality plugs I'm thinking it would be hard to fry an A7 if you're using the full config. IMHO I would NOT use anything but full, 3-pair plugs...and all eight of them.

So...up and running, I'm now...

Come on blocks!  I got the dreaded "Clearance Delay" notice on my A721 shipment this morning.  It was scheduled to be delivered today but it is Oakland, California on hold.  Angry

My  2 still seem to be no where. Last info was on Mon and they were in Hong Kong.

With a 2043 usd order I fear big time taxes on this gear.

Hello Philip I have few questions. Im planning to buy few avalon721 becuase I got an avalon6... Its awsome... 1 year running non stop, no issues like crappy S7 or S9

  • How many days takes from China to US?
  • Can you buy any amount?
  • They only accept bank transfers? or I can use BTC to pay?
  • What PSU are you planning to use?

Thanks in advance.

Turns out mine was not stuck; got a call from a really nice FedEx person, answered a couple of questions, and she said the package
should be delivered by tomorrow.  Cheesy
That's good...I'm just sitting here waiting for FedEx, making up new 3-pair PSU pigtails so I can get it running full tilt.  Roll Eyes
just curious is the 30a @ 240 or 120 volt
Alas...120. This is the US...and I don't have 240 in my unit. They're planning on upgrading the feeds to 100A next summer. Whoopee.
well that is not a lot of power, how is 721 doing

OK so I'll go for the anime sacrifice early this time - before it turns into a bright red 2 day long block Tongue

After Ripple/Kano and Top Speed defeated Calamity Mary, Top Speed was killed in a surprise attack from behind Sad
(they transform back when they die - that's Ripple/Kano on the right again)
Yes this anime is no holds barred, Top Speed was 3 months preg.
May Top Speed and her baby be appropriate sacrifices to the block gods Smiley

Love the anime! Anything that helps the blocks crack is A-OK with me!  Cheesy
