Mine for a Bit
Kano,

Big question:  When the pool (kano.is) goes down for any time period my miners switch to an alternate pool.  Do you have another address that my miners can default to and still retain 5Nd -or- does all of kano go down?

Your thinking of the 5Nd the wrong way.
I am going to see if I can come up with a better way to explain this to people...

Edit: Maybe this will help?

     Current difficulty = 113354299801

     That means that 1Nd = 113354299801

     5Nd = 113354299801 x 5 = 566771499005

That means that when a block is found the last 566771499005 shares are paid.

So for every one of those 566771499005 shares that you submitted you are paid for.
You are paid for the ratio of your shares to the 566771499005 that are paid.

The 5Nd is not a time, but a number of shares.

Thanks for the edification!  I just now got done resetting all of my miners one by one because they were hashing for kano.is and another pool.  I reset them to get them to hash just for kano.is.

1) This takes me a considerable amount of time
2) My miners do not go fully back to kano.is and also hash for another pool
3) Constant resetting of the miner cannot be good for it.

Yesterday, someone gave me some information as to a program to reset all of them at once which would solve the issue for time, convenience, and hashing for another pool, but does not resolve the issue with constant resetting.  If there was another site that is still Kano, but does not go down with Kano when that happens; I would like that address then I will never have to reset.

Does this make sense?

Are you running dec 11 firmware? I have all 28 on dec 11 since dec 11. Manual fan 60% seems to help stability.

Yes, I am running the Dec Firmware, but they do not come all the way back.  They hash for the other pool in small increments.  Wolfen:  i am going to learn how to use  putty.exe to reset the miners in batch like you recommended, but have not learned it yet.

Yes it makes sense, but it does not exist.
You need to setup a failover at some other pool.

The pool going down rarely happens for extended periods of time, so most people use solo.ckpool.org (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/yh-solockpoolorg-2-fee-solo-mining-usade-255-blocks-solved-763510)
Or use a PPS pool.

Does this make sense?

You are paid for the ratio of your shares to the 566771499005 that are paid.

The 5Nd is not a time, but a number of shares.

Example:

Last block the 5Nd = 567.815G = 567815000
My shares = 995.702M = 995702

995702 / 567815000 = 0.00175356762

Block reward = 25.06945359 X  0.00175356762 (my reward %) = 0.04396098206

Obviously my math it off by just a tiny little bit somewhere, but you get the point.
(It is off because the 5Nd is not 567815000, the last three numbers would not be zeros)

It's a spam transaction advertising some BTC multiplier thing.  I've gotten these before.  Nothing to see here, move along Tongue

Good catch, blocktrail omits the spam advertisement unlike blockchain.

Can a new thread be opened for the cheerleader squad and just keep this one pool related? Trying to blow through 20 pages of voodoo and chicken wings to find out pool related info gets more and more difficult. I try to keep up and my usual disclaimer, not trying to offend anyone. A good alternative for cheerleading type posts is Twitter. What is was designed for. Maybe use that for the chicken food and celebration tweets and leftovers will be all detailed pool related. Remember, some of us can't get on the forums daily and I would like to keep up to date on things but sometimes I can't because of 20 pages of "we will get this block" or "have some chicken".  While it is crazy funny wacky stuff us old guys read slower and can't keep up so fast. If I'm the only one that thinks this way, then stuff me right back down the hole from which I came.
Thank you.

Anyone know what this transaction is all about  Huh

Did I miss something somewhere?

Could it be dust payments?

To consistent, maybe Kano is testing out his new payment processing code.

Looks like a transaction fee accidentally sent to payout addresses.

This time wasn't a ddos, but a whole section of the data centre went out for 2-4 minutes
Left a ticket to find out why but they don't always answer that question if it's short Sad

Getting a low hash rate warning from the monitor. My miners have failed over to a backup.

The web site is up, but maybe mining is down?

Should of been temporary switch over. From my reckoning just a matter of minutes. I'm sure Kano got a few alarm bells waking him up. Have your miners switched back to Kano.is?

All of mine have come back to Kano.is

Maybe yeah, I wasn't one of the chosen address though  Roll Eyes did check a handful against BTC address miners but only a couple I checked were there so that's why I originally thought dust but yeah too consistent and probably too many.
