I deleted that link post and any post that quoted it.

Personally, I think that any site that wont show a picture and forces you to enable javascript is bad news to me.
I run FF noscript, and any site that doesn't let me on ... I don't use.

Ditto. My advice as well to my hosting clients, so they can not make such mistakes on their own sites.

By coincidence the CDF value is the same for the last 10 and last 25 blocks at 0.0159.

That's getting down there but we aren't at discovery level yet for the existence of "Luck".

I want to see 5 sigma on multiple independent sets of blocks, so you should be able to work out limits on my prior for PLuckExists  Cheesy

kano, is it possible to change the calculation of CDF for the last n blocks to include diffs submitted since the last block?

With the current implementation, the last 5 blocks for example would stay bright green even if we never found another block...
Yeah I'm betting on that not happening ... ... ... I see the pool differently to you.

Quote
From an accounting/profit analysis perspective it's a better representation of how a miner has done from (now) to (now-nblocks) if we include the non-productive time between (now) and (now-1block). edit: The non-productivity of inter-block time is a correlate of the independence of future outcomes from past.
If your accounting matters on the luck of a single block, I suggest you need a new job.
That table is there for that exact reason, to see how the pool is performing over time, not guess based on a single block.
Single block luck is so random that you'll be out of business pretty quickly if you base your decisions on that.
Hmm back on 24-July last year I can see you closing down your business when we found that 666.666% block
Edit: oh and of course a 666.666% or worse block is expected, on average, once every 785.8 blocks, so you gonna be going broke pretty regularly on larger pools.

Quote
edit: From another perspective, this also has the benefit of making the CDF values over time roughly continuous and differentiable and eliminates the variable phase shift of the current filter. For visualization and analysis this is beneficial.

Thoughts?
No, since that is including the completely unknown 'future block' into the calculations.
That's a table of facts, not predictions.
The header of every page on the site shows the current Diff% of the future block at "Shares:" and the time since that last block at "Pool:"

Regarding being continuous ...
That future prediction will also change with every single share submitted, so currently about every 714 nanoseconds ...
The blocks table information is generated once every time any code requests it and finds that it needs updating.
That's (normally) twice per block, once when a block is found and once again when a found block stats are corrected.

St Alfonso is here and he brought a POOPload of hashrate.
Bravo.

Is St Alfonso renting or is he a big bear that moved from another pool? Just seeing if its here to stay or just a short rental?

Sad alfonso  just a short rental ....
 23:43  = 1,8PH

Think for yourself
Wonder where they get their data as Slush surely isn't 147PH either.

It's calculated strictly from the block find rate.  Same as the total network hash rate.

Yea those numbers look real fishy, even if they are based on just block finds.

Yeah Nicehash been jacking up the rates so definitely do not use it for Slush Pool or PPS.  I was getting it for .0049, then .005 and now have to .0055 to catch a bite.  I am dropping it down to .0054.  Trying to extend my HASH rate over the 5ND.  This works good at Kano at the current pool luck rate.  I got all my investment back already, so right now it's all bonuses from here on forward.  =)

It is all supply and demand there....  Miners have gotten wiser and come here.... More people want to purchase. ..  Price is way up yes...  Actually at current prices may make it my backup pool.

Hey...it's all good. I run 4 S3s and an S2...they've been doing quite well for me overall. Got two more S3s coming in a couple of days; by Apr I hope to have 15 S3s and the S2 and be popping around 8-8.5Th. Right now it's around 3T. Eventually I'll keep the S2 (sentimental value) and convert to S7s. While I will be running 15 S3s and the S2, at 8-8.5Th, I can run 4 S7s on the same power, and get over 18Th on the same amps. That's the plan, anyway. I'd rather do that, and have complete control, than rent. OTOH, BTC isn't a hobby for me...it's my only way of building some kind of retirement cushion independently of the banking system.

I think it's pretty cool that folks like yourself get a kick from BTC, and handle it responsibly. I've been around it for years,  but only recently (4 mo) began actually working it. Not everyone acts responsibly. I use this pool, and CK's solo, because I have sort of "watched" their work for some time, and I have never seen any hint of impropriety...on the contrary, it has been on the side of transparency, civility, and the ability to manage something that is by definition complex and challenging.

Anyway...thanks again, Kano (and Con). Have another coffee on me...  Cool

That's pretty great - I'd love to own more of my own miners at some point. Sadly, NYC apartments and roommate arrangements aren't exactly the most conducive to running too many of them! For right now, having this S3 is just my way of trying to be a micro-mini part of this whole ecosystem. If I were to find a deal on another S3 I'd probably go for it since I've got capacity to spare on the PSU I bought to run it. Beyond that I'm not sure how much physical capacity I've got to get much deeper into running my own rigs. Given all of that, the rental experiment is really just that - an experiment to learn a little more about how all this stuff works. As far as CKPool goes though, I agree 100% with you. The norm elsewhere seems to be a lot of non-communication at best and even downright shadiness. After reading through this pool topic and seeing pretty much nothing but great things said about Kano and CK and the way this pool is run, it just seems like a no-brainer.

Just thinking about it now, I first "got into" bitcoin a little over a year ago. A friend offered to pay me in bitcoin for helping him out on a project. At the time I was still somewhere between "oh isn't that the thing that just got crazy scammed / what is this wacky unicorn money?" Anyhow, I said "sure, I'll take $5 out of the $100 in BTC". Let's just say that looking back, I wish I'd reversed that ratio! Cheesy Oh well - further into the wormhole I go...

I hear you. But...this is no wormhole, or even rabbit hole (as in Alice). It's the future. I worked as Chief Field Examiner for Avco Commercial Finance for several years,  and got the inside scoop (or scat, depending on how one looks at it) on how the banking system REALLY works...and that's why I've been an advocate for BTC since the beginning...although back then I had the same sort of prove-it-ain't-a-unicorn view...I won't go into it again how I lost 1,500 BTC (at that time worth around $1.79 TOTAL, I think) when my laptop HDD failed without a backup. I'm blessed that I live in a subsidized, senior housing project in which the power is included in the rent (they're not hurting, btw...they're only paying USD$.015/kwh because they have an extensive PV installation), and they know what I'm doing. I hear the apt thing...and having lived in SF, LA, etc. I do understand. Imua! (Hawaiian for onward/forward/damn the torpedoes full speed ahead).
