If for nothing other than forcing me to use a currency I don't want to. It's the reason I started mining crypto in the first place. Now a main hardware manufacturer for BTC is forcing me to use a different crypto-currency. Does that not bother anyone else or I am just a weirdo?

It's also why they're slower than normal to release more miners...when an used miner can fetch 4-5X Face Value on ebay/amazon...they'd rather keep it in-house and mine for themselves (while keeping the transaction fees). Can't wait for Canaan to release their new stuff.

Was some 'upstream network routing' problem, all resolved now.

I was looking at those 16TH/s Miners that were introduced earlier but I saw that as a crap shoot since they have yet to ever deliver a product to anyone and they were taking Pre-Orders. Yeah you've got to be careful, though there's always a degree of risk with everything. As mentioned, only use authorized dealers of manufacturers you trust and have a track record. Though, that's not always enough. I was going (preorder) to buy a KNC neptune, having thought they were good for in based their past successes. They refunded the purchase, though, so it's not like I got scammed.

Those are the burn-in's as others have suggested. Not a consistent source of hash rate like cobra and lightsword, when they were both pointed here.

There is a reason for that dust limit I bet. I am not sure a minimum payment of 2.77 is a major prevention for miners to mine at a pool.
