So my S9 arrived and is connected to this pool. Cool
It shows firmware: Fri Nov 17 17:37:49 CST 2017
Is this the last firmware?

Easiest way to see for me is just to look at the workers shift graph:

https://kano.is/index.php?k=usperf

This requires you to be logged in though.

So under my shift workers graph it shows the last 5nd reward in red.
My bar is past the 5nd now. Does that mean im done with the 5nd?

STEP 1:
From HELP -> PAYOUTS from Kano.is
Quote
PPLNS acts like the reward 'ramps up' when you first start mining.
What actually happens?

The 5Nd means it takes that long to reward your shares.
The ramp isn't missing rewards, it's delaying them to reduce variance.
Each share is rewarded in all the blocks found in the 5Nd after the share.
That's simply how it reduces variance. Each share's reward is averaged out over the 5Nd after it.

The pool hash rate for the last day is roughly 28.89PHs which means the 5Nd 'ramp' is roughly 13days 17hrs.
STEP 2: Now, go to ACCOUNT -> REWARDS and take note of the N RANGE VALUE of your last block reward. As example mine is 413hr 27m 45s

STEP 3: Take the N RANGE VALUE and transform it to days: 413 hours / 24 hours = 17.20 days

STEP 4: Take the 5Nd ramp time from the first step and compare it to your N RANGE VALUE in days: 13 days 17hrs < 17.10 days

If the N RANGE VALUE of your last block reward is higher than the 5Nd ramp from HELP -> PAYOUTS you are over the ramp period.

Hope it helps, english is not my first language. Old timers @ Kano.is please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey folks,

I'm having a problem with my new avalon controller (RPi3).
I need to install some software on it. Basically a VPN Client (neorouter).
But because of the architecture I can't install either the client for openwrt nor the client for debian arm.

So just one easy question:
Has anybody running an "AvalonController" on a Debian Raspberry by just installing some additional Software
instead of using openwrt?

I asked google but just getting old instructions about bfgminer or something like that.
And I dont't want to break anything.

Thanks a lot....

Hello I'm pretty new to the Kanopool I have started mining about 4 days ago on the pool with my 2 S9s. I have read that the payment is given after 100 confirmation of finding a block but in the last 2 blocks which was found 1,2 days ago I received the payment before the 100 confirmation and it showed that my average THs was only 2.3 -2.6 I don't understand why it showed such a low THs where as at the time my TH was around 28.
And my average % was showing more than 0.01%, can someone explain this to me?
Block   Block UTC           Miner Reward   N Diff   N Range   Pool N Avg         Your %   Your N Diff   Your N Avg   Your BTC
498508   10/Dec 03:39   17.43860143   7.958T   413hr 27m 45s   22.96PHs   0.01%   901.236M   2.60THs   0.00197478
498476   9/Dec 23:27   14.22993506   7.956T   414hr 20m 6s   22.91PHs   0.01%   801.733M   2.31THs   0.00143390

There is a ramp up period, take a look at the "Your N Avg" every time a new block is found (you can also take a look at your "Shift Graph" in the "Workers" Section when logged in Kano.is) it should get higher as the days pass. Fully ramp up period is about 13-15 days.

Guys, please read the thread, all these questions has been addressed millions of times. I'm a noob myself (about 3 months here at Kano), but people need to start reading the thread and the pool page info to figure these simple things by themselves.

Thread is getting swamped with the same questions over and over and over again and it's getting tiresome.

Hi Kano,

When will you distribute the held BTC b/c fork, not dust? Thanks.

BTW, it's nice to see this month turn around. The best pool for a lot of small miners with lots of fun Smiley

hell my first 7 amount to $2.50 in btc and i prolly have over 200+ in total dust payemnts that are adding up

The dust limit is anything under 10,000 satoshi so 0.0001 BTC which is about 6c - so no, 7 of them wont add up to $2.50, maybe about 100 random dust rewards would add up to $2.50

However, if you have lots of dust AND non-dust payouts, that means I have to manually confirm each one to work out what is and isn't sent.

If you mean you have non-payouts coz you didn't enter a payout address, then that's a different issue, but if you have a mix of them both, they'll have to wait until I do the accounting code.
You never know, they might be worth more than a few dollars by the time that's done Smiley

6. Though that is what I have read on the internet. It might just be one.

No.  As I said before it's 101 for newly mined coins.  It's 6 confirmations when transferring already matured coins.

As he said. New blocks must reach 101 confirmations before being paid. Not just at Kano, but everywhere.

Well, that makes sense. I wasn't sure you saw the part about not kano blocks. Everything I read said 6 confirmations. But they also talked about a vulnerability at 0 confirmations and a 51% vulnerability for under 6 confirmations and I wasn't sure those were valid vulnerabilities anymore.
For transfers, it's pretty much up to the maker of the wallet you are using. I know Electrum uses 6 confirmations. Some online wallets like Blockchain and CEX.IO only need 3 before they consider it spendable again.

The network has grown so huge that it would take an enormous investment to mount a 51% attack. But it is still possible. Though it would destroy all confidence and BTC and likely wipe out the value of it. In so doing you would just corner the market on something that no longer had value.

So this is how you guys kill time while waiting for a block....

3 days for block...

I won't make it...
I'll die of block withdrawl  after 30-40 hrs tops...

Well at least when a block is found the payout is larger so you'll pay less in transaction fees when you spend it.

Also I expect the hash power to grow once Kano gets his accounting code done.

Shame the pool took such a big hit in hashpower.
Seems demons have been exercised and it's safe to come back...
At least till new year for the free fees  Wink

Because Kanopool pulls 0.3% of total network hashrate, would it be correct to estimate that we should be averaging finding one block every 333 blocks?

Newly mined Bitcoin are not spendable till they reach 101 confirmations.  That's the way it has always been, and has nothing to do with kano.is.

hi,

can anyone confirm weather the payments for the last 2 blocks have already been sent or weather they are still pending? the website shows them as sent, but i cannot find them, for some reason...

thanks!

The pool has to find another block which will include the payment transaction.

But we found 2 so shouldn't the first one be sent to our wallets already and then the second one we found be sent at the next block we find?
Also can someone tell me how many confirmations a blocked needs to be completely confirmed in the blockchain, not the kano pool but the actual bitcoin system?

Yes, we are all generously patient as we await our inevitable payments, BTC falling from the sky. Lovely.

In other news, I hope everyone has their dance shoes polished because its about time to start cut'n that rug!

Time to boogie on down!!!

Also a bottle of Hanalei IPA was sacrificed for the good of the order.
