I'll believe Mark Karpeles wil get prosecuted and put in jail only when I see it with my own eyes. He has way too much money, people with millions never end up in jail. He will probably bribe the justice or something and get out of jail as soon as possible.

Stupid Millionaire do end up in Jail. Which one is he? I guess we'll find out soon.
I think it would be a good example if he was thrown in jail or such. Something very severe. It would raise morale and maybe remind potential scammer to think twice before doing it.
The scammer vs justice scoreboard look pretty bleak so far.

Btw, is this Mark Karpeles when he was younger?

HAHA, but then just with real samurai swords!

Quote from: Ashley Barr, A.K.A "Adam Turner", the first Mt.Gox employee
I don't blame the dev's, they had no access, not even a pre-production server to help Mark with the exchange. In the truest sense of the work, Mark was a maverick, making live updates to the exchange (some went well, others didn't). All in all, I felt Mt.Gox was an RPG to Mark, as he didn't quite grasp the reality that the money being in deposited into his bank account meant more to other people than just numbers on his screen.

if this is Mark it is very strange indeed and does seem to indicate

he was deliberately put in the mtgox position

definately he was an extremely naive but moderately

skilled programmer

I wonder if any members of Yakuza lost big on Gox....

Then this will definitely make him getting raped on jail rofl . he won't handle it for 24h and will end up by suiciding .

If you are in jail in Japan, you will have no efford to rape other inmates and if you had, you wouldn't risk it, because you will most likely be treated in the hogobo afterwards.

...and the practice of police being able to jail you for 23 days (without access to a lawyer) where they interrogate you nonstop in hopes you'll just confess.

Is that for serious crimes only or for all crimes? 23 days is a long jail time without conviction.

All crimes, in Japan you are guilty until proven innocent. The interrogations aren't filmed either so they can slap you around if they want http://gaijinass.com/2011/01/02/7-brutal-realities-regarding-arrest-in-japan/

Because he has money though he can likely just sign the confession papers and pay a gigantic fine. You can pay your way out for almost any offense a friend of mine who stupidly bar brawled and was arrested in Tokyo was in a room full of arrested Subway gropers who paid 1 mil yen to walk out the door.

Japan has a 99% conviction rate lol.

Of course this is mainly because they only cherrypick cases they know they can win, and the practice of police being able to jail you for 23 days (without access to a lawyer) where they interrogate you nonstop in hopes you'll just confess.

He should be in prison for his remaining life, and he destroyed many families cause over 10k btcers lost money cause of him, and some whales went broke because of this scammer. What a pity, he deserves that.  Grin  Cheers, really wanna see some rapers rape his ass.

I guess they put him in another cell than rapists. So his possibilty to being fucked in the ass is low.

You lead and I'll watch you walk away.
i put a profit warning on this company 1 year before this company went bankrupt and it was deleted

by mods for trolling xD

Was Karpeles one of the mods at the time? (honest question - he was on the Bitcoin Illuminati (I mean Foundation) and stuff like that too)

yes he was a forum heavywieght, Magical Tux was his ID

also after a previous glitch with Gox he moved some coin to prove proof of funds

this type transaction is now deemed illegitemate as you could be paying someone to do it

He was much more powerful than a mod. He hosted the forum. He has always been a thieving scumbag too. The turd was found guilty of fraud in France in 2010. He admitted to pirating a server to the French investigators and was sentenced to a year in jail. He moved so he wouldn't have to serve his sentence. This dynamic is really the great thing about being a business owner in Bitcoinland. No one ever checks your background to see if you have a history of criminal behavior. They just hand you all their money. LOL

No. He's never been involved in running here and his post count is pretty modest. I'm sure he had some weight all the same in every sense of the word but people throw salient facts around all the time. I dunno what happened in that case.

Are we sure about that? If I lost 850k bitcoins , I wouldn't be around people on public , even if I stole that or actually honestly hacked , I would be in some god forsaken island working some lame lame job to get away from everyone. He MUST be on drugs to be that calm and still operate everyday. There must be some people who seriously considered a hit on him.

Something clearly isn't sparking in his mind the way it does with conventional people. While Gox was slowly falling apart he was busy coding a cash register and developing lovely pastry recipes for his cafe. Most reports of his character are of someone who was locked in a world of his own.

As for a hit, there's no shortage of verified and identified scammers who are strolling around just fine. Internet tough talk rarely translates into action.
