Barcelona winning today will even things out.

That's what Barcelona should get, Victory!
In fact, it is very rare to see Barcelona losing in a row, at least what often happens is that they only experience the first defeat after that they are in good condition again, which is to win every game.

Won't be easy for Barca tonight. They are playing without Messi, Suarez and Dembele. I am curious too see if some young talents will get the chance in attack or maybe they decide to use Rakitic or Roberto further forward. Those guys can play anywhere in the field, especially Roberto.

If I had to describe the Real Madrid vs Valladolid using one word, that word would be "Déjà vu". The match yesterday was the perfect representation of most of our our games from last season:

Great first half, only thing missing was the goal. In the 2nd half, we start playing as if if we were winning 5-0 (but we're actually 0-0), while the opposite begins to push forward, and with our terrible defense (Ramos past his prime, Varane out of position, Marcelo not defending, Carvajal nowhere to be seen), the opposite team actually have some clear chances. Enter desperation mode in the 70min, begin the crossing operation (cross after cross after cross, etc, etc), then score a goal straight out of nowhere, but concede in the final minutes to either lose or draw the game (yesterday, it was a draw). All in all, fighting for the Europa League spots, here we come!!!!

Barcelona vs Real Betis

Over the last 10 years, Betis only managed to beat Barcelona once: it was last year at the Camp Nou, game finished 3-4.

So the good news is Real Madrid could only draw last night, but the bad news is Messi seems to be unavailable tonight. And even if we win, we'll still be behind Real haha. Not that first two games of the season will decide everything but Valencia must also be worried to only get 2 points from 2 winnable games.

I'm happy with 1-0, hope it all happens for us tonight.

As a Barca "Fan" I am very happy to see Real failing like this... Cheesy Not being able to win at home vs Valladolid is kinda pathetic actually...

Maybe this is the same thing felt supporters of Real Madrid when Barcelona could not win against Bilbao the previous week.

Real Madrid did not experience defeat, only they drew and only got 1 point.

I hope that Barcelona can win against Betis so that you can be happy, because Barcelona haven't got any points at all in official competitions.

The only difference being that even with a full squad at Barcelona disposal, Athletic Bilbao is always a tricky test, and Barcelona losing is always an expected outcome, which was the case with Real Madrid vs Valladolid where Madrid running riot is the least expectation.

Barcelona winning today will even things out.

The first fixtures are always tricky.
I remember stating that I am going to bet for Bilbao winning and people told me that I am crazy.

I don't think that Barcelona is going to lose again points, so a bet For Barcelona win will be my shot

The current La Masia is not as good as before in producing high-quality players, because the system changed.

I wouldn't say the players are not as good, as all we have to go by is potential. The management has been poor so we do not see the young prospects reaching their potential. The club has become heavily dependent on high profile sign-ins and is losing it's identity, so there's no system for then to flourish in, so they end up getting sold or remain unused in the academy.

The crop of 2006-2008 were brilliant, probably the best of any around the world during that era, but the team has to move on and recreate itself, only a few of the players from that time remain and for not too long now.

It's definitely going to tougher tomorrow with several stars including Messi, Suarez and Dembele still unavailable for selection.

Barca needs to find a way to fight properly without their stars, Messi especially. It's not a team if you can't win with other players.

A team should be like that.
But it's more unfortunate for Barcelona who still depend on Messi until now. If we see Barcelona have a lot of players and should be able to as usual without messi.

In this second week Barcelona must be able to take the win when they meet Betis, if not they will lose points again for the second time and away from the top of the Spanish league table.

I believe the young lads would be impressive, Betis might be too big a team for experiments, but such true tests produces game winners.

The current La Masia is not as good as before in producing high-quality players, because the system changed. I'm not that positive, to be honest. If they want to have good players like Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, etc again, they need to start changing their system. Sports must be the majority of their activity.

Match day squad according to the Official Website.
They are: are Ter Stegen, N. Semedo, Piqué, I. Rakitic, Sergio, Arthur, Rafinha, Lenglet, Griezmann, Jordi Alba, S. Roberto, F. De Jong, Vidal, Umtiti, Junior, Iñaki Peña, C . Perez and Ansu Fati.

Todibo, M. Wague and Aleñá have been left out by the coach, whilst Suárez, Messi, O. Dembélé and Neto are still injured.

Ansu Fati is in the squad; that's the news I have been waiting on all week, and I hope he does get enough playing time to show what exactly he can do. All the high profile absentees would give Barcelona an appraisal of their handling of lamasia. I believe the young lads would be impressive, Betis might be too big a team for experiments, but such true tests produces game winners.

I didn't watched their match, but results like this one reminds me previous season.
While Barca will face difficult opponent - Real Betis. I remember we lost against them at home last season. They have some interesting new players like Nabil Fekhir, but on the other hand they lost many important players during transfer window - Firpo, Lo Celso, Boudeboz and few others. It's going to be interesting.

I'm quite positive of Barcelona winning tomorrow, obviously Betis have always been a hard nut to crack for Barcelona, and It's definitely going to tougher tomorrow with several stars including Messi, Suarez and Dembele still unavailable for selection.

You better hope Barca win their Match tomorrow otherwise your "happiness" will be short lived  Grin

Otherwise... I still don't see Real Madrid as title contenders. well I am still basing on their performance in Preseason Matches. They still have a lot of work to do especially defense wise.

The second match for Real Madrid on Laliga 19/20 is upon Valladolid. I imagine James would get some match time today since Modric is suspended. Hazard still needs to wait for Laliga debut. I am looking forward to seeing the performance of Bale especially. I expect Zidane and Bale to sort out their peculiar problems and make the club stronger.

My prediction for today game is RMA 3-0 VAL

I thought it would be an easy game for Real Madrid prior to the game, but it took Madrid 82 minutes before they could score a goal and yet are unable to defend their lead. It's 1 - 1 and two minutes plus stoppage time to go.

Definitely not the game anyone had hoped for, Except for the Valladolid's fans.

Ousmane Dembele is reportedly absent from the medical examination after the match against Athletic Bilbao. Barcelona called really disappointed with his behavior.

Dembele was in the spotlight due to a hamstring injury to his left leg, after the match against Bilbao in the first week of the Spanish League 2019/2020 last week. The club also plans to hold a medical examination to him on Saturday (8/17).

However, Dembele is reportedly absent from the examination. The French player even reportedly chose to fly to Senegal with his family, before finally undergoing medical tests on Monday (19/8)

Harkorede, I watched a little of the Villarreal match and that's football for you, isn't it? I've seen enough of a good side dominate the match only to lose to decisions like that (Barca vs Real last season twice!). But I think it wasn't unfair. All the penalties were legitimate so Villarreal should learn from this and maybe not get so aggressive in the box in defense.

Did anyone watch Levante vs Villarreal match ? I didn't see game but going by the flashscore.com informations, I'm wondering how on earth were Levante handed 3 penalties in just the 2nd half alone, of which they were able to convert 2 of them to secure 3 points.
It was very strange match. Villarreal dominated totally, but they somehow managed to lose. Levante just made few dangerous attacks during whole match and earned two prnalties. First penalty was saved by goalkeeper, but he stepped from goal line before kick, so Levante had to repeat penalty and then they scored.

Actually there was nothing strange about the match. It's just that Levante has more luck getting 2 penalties at once. Well, penalties are obtained from violations. So this is purely like a match in general.
