Eibar and Cadiz play this evening, what can be expected
it is interesting to note that Eibar does not have win at home in first four matches, and Cadiz won all their away matches, must be influence from empty stadiums, and this puts Cadiz as favorite tonight, based on the fact that they play away Smiley

The problem is that a football club isn't a retail brand; it gets judged every week by what happens on the pitch, and in the department of weekly, short-term results, Bartomeu came up desperately short. That's not so much when it comes to results on the pitch, which were mixed - in his nearly seven seasons at the helm, they won four Liga titles (good) and four Copas del Rey (also good), but they advanced past the quarterfinals of the Champions League just twice (not so good) --but, rather, in the actions he took to keep the team competitive.
This is the best explanation I found so far about the whole Messi, Bartomeu, Barcelona drama. If you want to read more about it go here

Not your keys, not your coins!
It is a very happy day for Barcelona fans today as Barcelona president Bartomeu officially resigns from his position. The prolonged conflict with players, especially Lionel Messi, is an indication that Bartomeu will resign from his position as president of Barcelona. Actually Barcelona's problem is not with their president, it's the real problem with Linonel Messi, just look at his game during the start of this season, there was no big contribution to his team especially when they lost to Real Madrid in El Clasico yesterday, It's time for fans to forget Messi and look for players new who can contribute and motivate the club especially when the position is behind the opposing team.
The problems of Barcelona are not come from Bartomeu or Messi or their boards or their squad. It is their serious system problem, President election is one of that. The resign of Bartomeu or the leave of Messi won't help Barcelona resolve all of their problems and come back after only one season.

Believe me, if things change good enough Barcelona will still need a few seasons to come back. They won Juventus in Champions League with De Jong played as a central defender, congratulations.

I don't really follow his policies, but lately it looks like Barcelona is getting worse. I think he deserves to go because the number of petitions has exceeded the minimum number of rules.
Yep, many policies made by him take bad effects on Barcelona. It is not surprising if people want him to go as he makes Barcelona getting in bad condition. As he is in the highest position to make any decision in Barcelona management, I agree with you if he deserves to get the sack. It is very unfortunate for him but Barcelona needs a new spirit and needs someone who can lead Barcelona to be stronger again.  Wink

I agree with the change of president in Barcelona to be done immediately, all the policies made by Bartomeu only made things worse for Barcelona.
And this season has made Barcelona fans even more stressful with Barcelona's performance. Moreover, many people have signed petitions to replace
Bartomeu's position. So to make Barcelona's internal situation improve, it must start with the replacement of Bartomeu, I am optimistic that if
Bartomeu is replaced, Barcelona's appearance will also improve.

In my opinion, Real Madrid will bet on Laliga this year. There are more chances to defend the title than it is to take the Champions League; Barcelona is as weak as ever and other rivals are showing volatility.

Don't rush... It is still early on the championship.
Barcelona is volatile right now but who knows if Real Madrid is going to be more volatile than Barcelona in March.
We are in the very beginning and you cannot conclude on the title winner. Also, Barcelona can make crucial signings on the January window transfer and reform the whole team...
In January, top players are not bought, but there are mid-level players in Barcelona. Perhaps the president's resignation will overwhelm the team, but it will take time, so this season will be quite stressful for Barcelona fans.

Just to note that Haaland joined Dortmund on the winter transfer.
There are still top players around that might be sign to a team like Barcelona.

I would say when you are the president of a team with a superstar that is seen above anyone else, your job would always be very hard. And the moves like sending Suarez away to piss of Messi and forcing him to stay with legal contract work made it even worse, president did everything in his power to make Messi mad and in return Messi won.

However a new president and a new management who can get along with Messi would take some time as well, I do not see Barcelona recovering from this very quickly, not like they are suddenly going to be the great team once again, the roster is obvious and they could be very good but we are not going to see any success in champions league for sure and they would maybe be second in the league at the end of the year and only if they are SUPER lucky could win it, that's it.

I would be very happy if Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned a few months ago. Then maybe the Barcelona club would have been saved from some bad decision. I don't know if there is such a bad president in the history of Barcelona. He doesn't have a good relationship with any players. Fans doesn't like him, even 20,000 people have signed a petition to remove him from the post of club president. Which is a very shameful for a president.
I don't really follow his policies, but lately it looks like Barcelona is getting worse. I think he deserves to go because the number of petitions has exceeded the minimum number of rules. This causes Barca to re-elect the president at the latest 90 days. I heard several names such as Víctor Font, Toni Freixa, Jordi Farre, Agustí Benedito and Lluís Fernández Ala ready to replacement  Bartomeu.

Bartomeu was the worst club president in Barcelona's history. It was going to happen anyway. Wonder if that will turn Messi decision to get himself out of Barca? Well this has taken a turn and hope it turns out good for Barca from here onwards. I want to seem him in other club for a change but feels like he won't in the end. Feels like he is gonna stay at Barca now ...

He should leave few months ago so Barcelona would not make some really bad decisions! The worst decision is to make Messi unhappy! To make him want to leave the club! Hope they will now have much more brain to make Messi happy and to make chemistry inside of team.

Messi did wanted to leave the team ahead of this season but the club claimed anyone wanting Messi would need to pay a huge fees which Messi said is not covered in the contract with him but didn't pressure as he didn't wanted to take the club to the court. This was the wrong decision by him. Now there remains a few option for him. There's no way he can stay humiliated in the club. It would be better for him to retire than to stay on a club that's hostile to him.

It was long overdue. They did win a lot during his reign (4 titles, 4 cups and 1 CL in his 6 years) but it was full of controversy and the club will be left with huge debt.

It will be interesting to see the list of candidates for his successor, Victor Font and Joan Laporta already said they will run. You should remember Laporta, he was president during the Guardiola period.

Lol That escalated quicklier than I originally thought.

I knew something serious was going to happen. Either the president or Messi. One of them had to go.
When you become unpopular each passing day and 20,000 fans sign a petition for you to be removed as a president, then there is not much better option than resigning. He must have realized that if a vote took place, there was no chance of him being voted as president again.

I wonder what happens will happen to Ronald Koeman in the next few weeks or months, but all I am sure about is that he won't stay there for long.

Even if Bertomeu was waiting for the fans to decide the decision would go against him.
Seriously, what would fans choose? The legend of the modern football or a president of Barcelona???
The sad part is that Messi "sacked" a president indirectly while he is going to leave the club soon due to retirement maybe.

Bartomeu destroys the club, from board to squad, from financial budget (for transfer, for youth generations) to relationship with their legend players. It is shameful to know Bartomeu hired a company to attack Barcelona's legendary players behind the scene. If I had been them, I would have never wanted to play for Barcelona again under the board of Bartomeu team. Never.

Bartomeu deserve all resistance from Barcelona's fans and players. Even if Bartomeu leaves the club, the future of Messi will be still unknow.

Actually, it escalated very slowly, but better later than wait until president election upcoming summer. Bertomeu was probably worst president, he made so many bad decisions  and outcomes is visible very well. One of the best teams in the world turned into big joke with €0.5 billion debt.
Bertomeu now simply didn't had other choice than resign. Otherwise he just would be kicked out after voting by club socios.

I am feeling he is going before new year because he was not right choice for this post and now after this resinging of current president his position is more weak may be leave this post by himslef otherwise next president is going to do this very quickly.
