It appears so. For some reason, CoinGate is pulling that amount from Changelly? https://support.coingate.com/en/66/what-is-the-minimum-amount-for-altcoin-payments

Another workaround if you're not willing to KYC and use Binance Pay is to use Okex.com. Send whatever coin you want to pay with to the exchange, trade it for BTC, withdraw it through the lightning network, and then pay your Coinsbee invoice using LN as well. I believe Okex has all the altcoins supported by CoinGate, except for the Binance's coins.

Good idea, thanks! I also don't see much advantage in using Binance Pay. If you want to verify with Binance via KYC anyway, you might as well use the Binance credit card and earn cash back on their platform. If you have enough BNB, the cash back is much higher than what you get on Bitrefill or Coinsbee.

I will try the workaround via Okex.com when I have some free time. I am using BTC or some major alts most of the time anyway. So it's not really an issue.

(I am OOM as always, will merit your posts once I get some!)

Unfortunately, however, a minimum purchase is required to use (smaller) altcoins.

For example if you want to use Binance Coin or Binance USD you need to shop for at least 0.7 BNB, which is currently about $250.
I believe one of their payment processors [CoinGate] should take the blame instead and they also have similar restrictions when it comes to higher amounts.
- As a workaround, you can use Binance Pay [if you're one of its users].

Coinsbee has plenty of new gift cards available (at least for the German region). They also allow various altcoin payments (50 in total, I guess). Unfortunately, however, a minimum purchase is required to use (smaller) altcoins.

For example if you want to use Binance Coin or Binance USD you need to shop for at least 0.7 BNB, which is currently about $250.

Nevertheless, the new range of gift cards is quite appealing. Definitely an alternative to Bitrefill. I really like that they added a few super markets, drugstores and fast food chains.

Keep in mind, to use giftcards on Amazon US you MUST have a VALID US based payment method. So you would have to get a VCC with some $ on it and have it's address match the shipping address where you are sending stuff. Then you can use US giftcards. They do ping the card every now and then to make sure it's still valid. No charge, just an authorization for $1.00 most people don't even see it.

Is this a new thing? I used to shop from Amazon U.S all the time and I never had to link a credit card before. I just buy gift cards from other individuals on Paxful, redeem the cards, and then ship the goods to my package forwarding company's address.

Somewhat. It appears to be random, but being added to all accounts. I have had to have a CC on mine since early 2019. Julie got hit with it sometime in mid 2020 and the work account was forced to add one back in May. I have had friends mention it too.

I am guessing it's a slow rollout, but once they hit you, no more GC till you put on a CC.

Nothing to do with amounts as far as I can tell since most of our Amazon shopping is done on Julie's account [no real reason just worked out that way] but I can say that the spend on that account is WAYYYYY above mine.

@bullrun2020bro

It's because you can pay with another currency than euro. It's like when you shop on Aliexpress, you can change the currency with dollars.

And here the trick: when you change to pay in USD, you pay cheaper (at least on Ali). Provided that you have a bank card that doesn't charge a convertion fee EUR/USD, then you save money  Tongue (otherwise the FX rate is about 2.5% with VISA and Mastercard IICRC)

Since Bitrefill's gift cards are in USD, that's why it says to change the currency to USD. Because you will have to pay in dollars.

But just to let you know that you can't split your purchase over several cards or payment methods.

I've read stories of Amazon blocking accounts when a (large) gift card was redeemed. Obviously they don't want to risk shipping items bought with a gift card that was stolen or obtained in other illegal ways.
Adding a creditcard ensures they can make you pay when needed.

This! A friend of mine recently used about €5k in Bitrefill Amazon gift cards to buy a TV and some other large items. Before making his purchase with the gift cards, he added a credit card to his Amazon account to be safe.

With this precaution, he had no problems making his purchases.

Has anyone had any experience with Hotels.com (USD) gift cards? Since I am able to buy them in Europe, do these also work if you have an account that has only done EUR transactions so far?

go to hotels.com
choose country USA and currency USD
search for your destination
If given the choice select "pay now"
Pay with your gift card

Source: https://www.bitrefill.com/buy/hotels_com-usa/?hl=en

I don't really get the explanation, tbh. Any idea if it works with EUR accounts?

It's perhaps an advice given, because in some countries Amazon has the habit of suspending accounts that only use gift cards and don't have a registered credit card first.

At least in my country, if you just opened your Amazon account and you pay for your first purchase with a gift card, you have a 50% chance of having your account suspended the same day (or once the package is in preparation. So you're not even sure if you'll receive your order).
Only using gift cards for all your orders seems to be also something not really appreciated for Amazon.

@DaveF mentionned to add a VCC but I advice to take cautious doing it. Years ago they suspended my account after I added a VCC (funny to remember about it, it was a VCC given by PrepaiDigitalSolution). It took me months to get my account back, since Amazon wanted me to send fax with bank statement, ID card, ect.

If someone really wants to add a VCC, better to use a VCC issued by a bank.

Just sharing my last experience with Bitrefill's support. I contacted them and 5 days later only 1 reply and the problem was still going on. No choice to contact them via Twitter and my problem was resolved 10 minutes later. I would have liked the customer service to be as fast. (no grudges)

Are there any gift card sellers in the Philippines, I only saw in the OP, US and CA so I was curious if there's one available in my country. Hopefully, a Steam Gift Card or an Amazon can at least be available, don't really want to get out of my house to buy Steam gift cards due to pandemic.

There is no Amazon PH as mentioned above but you can always use a reship company like MyUS or Shipito to shop from the Amazon U.S or any other US store, and then ship the goods to your place. Obviously, though, that would cost a bit more compared to shipping directly to your place so I'd personally recommend investing in a prime membership and also consolidate packages to save money, especially if you're planning to shop on a regular basis.

Yes, there are plenty of gift cards for the Philippines in both "Bitrefill" and "Coinsbee [select PH as its region]".
- None of them had one for Amazon PH [not sure if it exists] but both of them have gift cards for Steam PH.

I'd suggest checking other providers as well.

@SteepPepper

Undecided Very kind of you to post such video. You don't know what it feels like to click on such link when there are children in the room. I'll have to explain that to the parents.

I now wonder the credibility of your claim. At least searching a bit about this company, I wouldn't even bother to try it. See what I mean

Their card doesn't work everywhere, and sometimes there is no money on...

For sure I'm not looking for an alternative to Prepaiddigitalsolution. Enough garbage

I know its a bit late but thanks for your detailed reply! Its really helpful!
As a side note though it seems that coinsbee are no longer stocking Mastercards/ Visas VCCs now

If you're still interested in buying a few, you could ask them here or just email the support: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5182163.260;topicseen

I wouldn't be surprised if they're not going to restock it again since the amount of people having issues with the cards is only increasing.

I just found out about an actual reliable (at least it seems) method to get visa/mastercard giftcards so as to stay anoynomous protecting my privacy thanks to your amazing thread (apart from ezzocard which is really expensive and from private vcc sellers which seems less reliable :/)).
Though i got some questions  about its practicality if I really plan to use it for this purpose - staying anoynomous for privacy concerns while using mastercard/visa payments. Is it likely in your personal experience that prepaiddigitalsoltions ask for your personal documents if I simply plan to redeem a few (like within 5 codes/year?)?  Besides, that does Coinsbee require verifcation pf your personal information if you register to buy their perpaid cards?

I'm not aware of any other services VCCs and to answer your questions:

Coinsbee shouldn't ask you to verify your identity unless you reach the limit (10,000 EUR) so you're basically safe for two years if the 5 cards you're planning to buy are of 1000 EUR denominations. As for PrepaidDigitalSolutions, then there is always that risk. You can read the warning from Coinsbee's webpage:

Quote
If a large number of codes are redeemed on a single account, prepaiddigitalsolutions.com may suspend the account for further investigation. We have no control over this.

Personally, I have bought many cards in the past (never 500/1000 EUR cards though) and never got asked to verify my identity.

Also, before buying, please check their Trustpilot review page before because even though I haven't faced any issues myself, it appears that other people did.

I haven't checked the other services for some time, so if you think I missed something important, please let me know so I update the topic.
It looks like Coincards has a few significant changes in regards to "Underpaid/Late Paid Invoices":

If you don't load your account with Bitcoins in advance, the current fees for instant transactions are pretty high.
AFAICR, fees have been quite low in the past couple of weeks or so: mempool.space

Updates:

- It's now possible to use USDT (TRC-20) to buy from Bitrefill. You can't load your account with it though.

Ah, thanks for the update buddy! Even if I am not the biggest fan of Tron, TRC-20 is a pretty good way to save some transaction fees. If you don't load your account with Bitcoins in advance, the current fees for instant transactions are pretty high. Especially when the network is as full as it has been in recent months. That's why it's great to see Bitrefill steadily expanding its offers.

I will try it out in the next few days/weeks and then report back here.

For those who are not familiar with Binance Pay, it's a service that Binance released a few weeks ago which allows you to send/receive crypto with zero fees. The service is obviously centralized and requires KYC, but if you're already verified, you might as well just use it.

If you have to do KYC with Binance anyway, I would advise using the Binance credit card. Here you save more through the cashback program compared to buying gift cards from Coinsbee. Especially if you own plenty of BNB.
