Trying to be silver in BTC's gold status, without any new improvements LTC would surely be dead in the future. Transaction speeds are very fast in a lot of new cryptos so I don't see how LTC can compete with that if they don't have anything else to offer.

This thread appear periodically. So I think the litecoin is not dead. If there is some trouble with bitcoin, litecoin can replace it.

Not at all. Litecoin still kicking, and if it was totally dumped. It should be abandon already, and this thread is made wayback 2014. So no worries.

Litecoin is still being updated, so I can not say that he is a dead currency, his community is quite perfect, only low-potential currency, rather than dead currency, which is my personal opinion.

Seems like Litecoin value is dumped due to Bitcoin price hike. It was totally normal in crypto-currency market.

The main problem with LTC is that it does not have active development and nothing that it can do cannot be done by BTC Smiley

how can it be successful when the confirmation times for bitcoin haven't changed? and the fees are still quite high....

This isn´t really true. The mempool only has a few thousand transactions most of the time these days
- since the spam attacks on the Bitcoin blockchain stopped.

Therefore even very low fee transactions with a few cents are getting processed in 1-5 blocks.

The reason why the average transaction fee is still so high is, because some users just don´t have
a clue that they could get away with a much lower fee and the fact that many wallets use terrible
standard settings for fees (and the average user is lazy and doesn´t bother to customize the settings).

We still get spammed from time to time, but until all the big wallets, exchangers and so on provide segwit address for newbies to use, we will not see a big decrease in the mempol. Right now you can get a transaction for $0.2 with a segwit transaction, but until it isn't as easy as "click" to send it, the mempool can't go down. U hear that more and more exchangers are adding segwit support, so it will soon get better.

We have seen polkadot raising 114 million in a matter of 6days. Comsa raising 94 million and they have the same idea of connecting blockchains and their idea has not even materialized yet. But LTC just did an atomic swap a few days ago with BTC. I guess LTC is here to stay. I guess 100 is just round the corner

Don't forget that polka managed to lose a lot as well Wink

it has a large network with lots of miners so u cant really say its dead

Of course! Large network of miners, large user base and many websites which accept Litecoin as a method of payment. It's unlikely Litecoin will ever die.
time can only tell what is the faith of this coin even we seen a lots of new coins which been introduce I guess Chinese wont give up that easy,
even bitcoin is really mooning time will come that litecoin will bounce and ride with bitcoin again.
not totally that are able to ride in bitcoin but we will see some improvement on this coin so better to wait when will this coin can have a huge of pump i see that in litecoin that in the future this could be one of the best altcoin.

I do believe in Litecoin and I can't accept the fact that it is dead.

Charlie is very active on Twitter telling about their progress and he looks quite confident about LTC future cause they always like main BTC competitor and that will once beat it.

I can imagine that if btc will have the same problems as it has now, LTC and ETH have a real chance to take the audience to them.

I've heard a lot of people call LTC a 'dead' coin, 'zombie' coin or something similar. However, what people struggle to realize is that it still is #3 regarding 24-hr volume. Am I the only one that thinks that's a pretty good sign? I mean... there haven't been any major news, no pumps or dumps. Yet, the price stays steady (even increasing a bit today) and the volume is almost doubling/tripling the 24-hr volume of other major top 10 coins like XRP, ETC and DASH (some of them actually being pumped by good news).
Actually... if you look at the top 10 coins, LTC is #1 when it comes to the ratio (24-hr vol. / market cap) by a long shot. This literally screams 'undervalued' to me... Anyway, I'm not sure if this really means anything and I'm a complete rookie when it comes to cryptocurrency but the fact is that there's a lot of 'money' being moved by the LTC markets even though there hasn't been any major announcement/implementation. The price is even suffering a mild but steady increase. So no, LTC isn't dead. It's more alive than ever. I can only imagine what will happen if good news actually decide to show up.
