The fuck happened to litecoin? Is segwit dead? What happened while i was asleep?

F2 pool said it was not, as they prev said going to do seg witness. Market
Freaked. Charlie lee talked to the head guy at pool. Seems fixed now. Google it

Talk about manipulating a market cause you can skunk the coin.

Thus btc whale games come to ltc. Thus people are as disappointed as if the
Pope farted in church.

Reality of big price power games has consequences on adoption and price

Good to know! Now that F2pool has closed their short they can go long again and adopt segwit. Of course someone else might decide they need a little more ltc or usd before the next push up, put in a short to accumulate funds, and say they want to think it over a little longer too  Tongue

This is also starting to turn into a giant FU against BU. Have no say in BTC? Then buy LTC. Cheesy

And now that the BTC backlog is really a problem, an adoption of LTC might turn out to be a very dangerous band aid fix for it, until BTC figures its shit out.

Here's an updated list of reasons I like Litecoin:

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • Blocks are not full.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 2,700 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (2,700TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features and active development.
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community. Definitly helps when consensus is needed.
  • Unlike bitcoin, it is possible to make changes to litecoin.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing merchant payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/ as well as other processors such as coinpayments, Asmoney, Alfacoins and Coinify
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value. Look at the chart here indicating volume in the last 24 hours relative to other coins http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/#markets in fact volume has remained high month after month for years.
  • The speed, liquidity and value of Litecoin is useful to traders seeking arbitrage opportunities between exchanges.
  • Now on GDAX soon to be on coinbase.
  • Upcoming release to include a on-chain adaptive block size scaling solution. This will substantially increase the transactional capacity of Litecoin.
  • Planned anonymity features for an upcoming release. https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/53c0v6/confidential_transaction_for_litecoin/
  • Fair release. In a crypto world of premined and ICO releases many appreciate this fact. The code was released well before the Genesis block was mined and everyone knew when it would be going live; therefore, individuals could anticipate and get their miners and software ready.
  • It's primary function is to be a cryptocurrency.
  • Still mineable in many western countries even after electrical costs are factored in. Here in Canada my Titans still make a profit long after shutting my Neptunes down.
  • Many low value coins can be merge mined with it increasing profits for miners
  • It will always maintain the integrity of the blockchain (no hard forks for special interests).
  • Likely the first major coin to activate segwit on it's network.
  • The possibility of utilizing sidechains for smart contracts without the possibility of corrupting the original non-turing complete blockchain.
  • Potential of using the Lightning Network as a method of increasing transactional capacity.
  • Possible block size increase if it's needed.
  • Security.

Great summary. The big killer points of LTC remain the fact that BTC is going to have big problems in order to enable segwit.

I see UASF gaining traction after the ASIC boost shit because Jihan Wu is gaining haters so UASF may have now bigger probabilities of getting adopted. In any case there are always storms brewing in the BTC community, LTC is pretty light right now.

We are now 113 pages into this thread. I want to officially declare that Litecoin is not dead.
Too much of a noise inside this coffin, I agree. Maybe we should postphone the funeral.

This is impressible growth when look back to last 3 year when it was stagnate, but it is not yet reached his ever maximum. We will see in next period how the price will go.
I am wondering what affect to the price so it was stagnate for that long? Maybe it was the fact that during those 3 years lot of new altcoins appear and take affect on these older once.  Huh

Just invested in LTC. Bubbling nicely and expecting a breakout for sure. Segwit support increasing so could explode faster than in 2014
It has got increased probabilities to breakout faster than 2014 making a history. The major reason behind this is the positive signalling of segwit. Now Litecoin is found staggering here and there within certain limits and so on segwit activation the price move takes place of a sudden. Investing is quite good at this moment.

Dammit dammit dammit, WHY, OH WHY didn't I think to buy LTC a week and a half ago?!?!?!?!?!

Because it had been dead as F for 2 years, that's why.........

OKAY!  Here it officially is.  I have decided to "paper trade" some Litecoin.  I will buy some at the current price, and over the next few days, see if it was a smart or dumb choice to put or not put real money on it.

Current price on BTC-e is $11.95 USD.  I have $700 to work with.  Note the time of this post.

So $700 / $11.95 = 58.57 LTC.

I now own 58.57 LTC with a value of $700 USD.  For pretend, that is.

I'll either be happy that I didn't spend real money, or I'll be pissed that I didn't spend real money.

We shall see.........

There has always been faith and trust in litecoin. One has to look beyond the noise created by fudsters and shills. Ltc deserves its place in the sun. I hope it settles at 0.10 btc and stays there. Teach all those scammy ico coins a thing about fairness and transparency.
