Since Litecoin has a smaller network and hashrate, it was quick in reaching full consensus. However, that is not the case with Bitcoin, making it harder each day for SegWit to become active on it.

Nevertheless, the approval of SegWit is good for Litecoin as it fixes maleability and expands its capacity to handle more users, possibly becoming used in the mainstream world. Just my opinion.  Smiley

It's still a million miles away but closer than it was a few weeks or months ago. Unlimited and hard forks in general have been discredited, f2pool are now segwit friendly with btc and ltc will be agonother boost. I believe it's inching closer. But it'll never manage it if the 95 per cent thing stays.

LTC is the best live testnet that BTC needed. Looking forward to the published results.

Edit:
Don't forget to withdraw all your crypto from LTC once testing completed.

Yes. It will serve as the perfect experimental cryptocurrency for Bitcoin's proposed scalability solution. Then, after testing the same on Litecoin, it could be known what would become expected into Bitcoin itself.

If you appreciate Litecoin and want it to go to the moon, I think you should stop bumping this thread because noobs will read it and assume Litecoin is officially dead (that's how noobs work). Just post in the Litecoin speculation thread or other threads. This thread is a FUDfest.

I still believe in Litecoin becoming a major player, as long as BTC doesn't get segwit and will not happen anytime soon. Of course if moons align and somehow BTC gets segwit you best believe it's going to get dumped quickly. But that's not going to happen so keep stacking LTC and hopefully we'll eventually go higher.
How will it compete with the big names like Ether? LTC is a bit outdated for sure in terms of tech.

With the growing possibility that Segregated Witness will soon be implemented in the Litecoin network, more and more developers are using Litecoin as a benchmark for Bitcoin.
Segwit as it is known in short, aims to solve malleability problems which in turn allows Lightning solutions. The Lightning network uses smart contracts to make instant payments among a large number of users without creating "queues of waiting" in transactions.

We will see Litecoin Segwit together with Lightening Network 2 weeks later. Congratulations to everybody! Grin

We are now locked in. Here you can see the progress bar when it reach 100% Litecoin will be with Segwit and LN.
And this is just amazing that we do not need to wait for Lighting Network alone!!

So they are gonna toss seg witness and lighting up at THE SAME TIME ..in TWO frigging weeks!!!!!!..are they really that far along in testing?

curious?

Litecoin is officially dead, why you may ask?

What Litecoin used to offer:

ASIC Resistance
GPU Resistance
2.5minute blocktime

What Litecoin now offers:
2.5minute blocktime

Basically, Litecoin is worth less than Blackcoin, Netcoin, OompaLoompaCoin, heck, practically anycoin that has a faster blocktime and Any other feature... Litecoin offers absolutely nothing over what 99% of these alt coins offers, even the worst alt coin offer more innovative features than Litecoin. And to those litecoin bagholders, who say that "Litecoins age and adoption" is something it offers, that's not true..There are NO reputable stores Worldwide that accept Litecoin, not one.

Verdict: Litecoin is dead, it hasn't been updated in years, it's a practically abandoned coin. I'm gonna feel really sorry to all the litecoin bagholders that are still "HODLING" when Litecoin reaches $1, 50 cents, 10 cents etc.

i dont think that it is offcially dead until i dont have any seen any proof that it is a dead coin. in some pool , we can mine it also, it can be exchange in some online exchanger. let us wait for further announcement if litecoin is officicially dead, but for now try to mine other coins, such as zc,zec and others thas a good value in the market now.

I don't agree with the OP, but that was written 3 years ago Wink

We can all say that after 3 years of saying that something is dead, it can be now said that litecoin is very much alive.
We c an agree or disagree on lot of thing here but we see that this time lite has survive maybe even better then rest of altcoin that are in dying stage.

As the block size of the litecoin will increase when necessary, people will have more confidence in it.

Litecoin has people that still believe in it and continued development.
It may not be the flavor of the month but I don't think you can say that its dead either.
The next couple months will show if this is just a blip on the radar or the actual comeback of LTC.
I think its worth at least holding some or buying when the price drops a little bit after this recent spike.

Actually, the price kept going up and down these last two days, it is a very nice phase to score some profit if you can time your trade right. As I post this, the rate was at around 0.0119xx to 0.012, you can consider it a good buying point, in case the price goes back up to 0.0125 like yesterday. It's a matter of speculation, though

I fix broken miners. And make holes in teeth :-)
April 24, 2017, 10:43:14 AM
Ok. But those were slated to end users who had paid for them. I have no problem with Bitmain sending every satoshi to the users, but I guess the question is that owning a mining rig gives you more than simply a stream of coins, it gives you the ability to vote on the network.

An ability that has some sort of value. How do you compensate for that?

How is LTC1BTC related to antmain?

They were the ones who ran up the difficulty with a lot of new systems recently. I doubt they built their own, or bought every KNC Titan on the planet at once to do this.

C

I guess you mean Bitmain, the manufacturer of Antminer ASIC miners.

Officially there is no relation. Unofficially they're best buddies and it was very simple for LTC1BTC and LTC.Top to get their hands on the new L3+ miners. Even with the firmware 'issues' Wink

Ah backroom deals. I still find it odd that a huge amount of hash popped on the network against it. Feels like manipulation or a big needs better firmware coincidence.

Or someone really wanted to see a guy eat a hat. How do you eat a hat, if I might ask?

That said, good to see they're going to try this. Should be interesting to see what happens, and if it turns out well I may be repairing Titans for awhile going forward....

C

So where are the hash against it now?

There is none of note in ltc land. I guess that is consensus. Kinda slick.
BTC should try this

Insignificant players (and their respective pools and hashrate %):

Jihan Wu, Bitmain. AntPool (5% LTC, 17.5% BTC)
Jiang Zhuoer. LTC1BTC + LTC.Top (35% LTC) BTC.Top (8.8% BTC)
Wang Chun: F2Pool (34% LTC, 10.8% BTC)
