Probability has a crucial role. The thought of winning the jackpot is certainly enticing. The promise of such a windfall is like the song of a siren. However, the reality is that you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than winning the lottery.
You are totally right. This is indeed what makes lottery games interesting and what makes people attracted to them. Spending a small amount of money to get a chance, regardless of how negligible it is, to win a life changing amount of money. Just thinking of it is fascinating. The moment you buy the ticket you immediately start dreaming of what you would do with the money you may win, although you know that the odds are against you.

    -  In short "A one in a million blue" millions of bettors are betting on participating to get the jackpot even though most people know that they are unlikely to win they still bet. Because it depends on luck.

So the profitability is very low, it seems that the percentage out of 100% is like 0.1% of the chances that you will actually get the jackpot. So it's up to us if we continue to do this, but there are people who are already trapped in this comfort zone because they have been doing this for several years but they are still not winning here.
I think as long as they don't spend a lot of money to buy the lottery ticket, they will still buy the lottery ticket until they hit the jackpot. But some people won't buy many lottery tickets because they don't want to risk losing a lot of money. They just buy enough lottery tickets and wait for the results. If they don't manage to win their lottery ticket, they will try again another day but with as much money as they can afford. And so on until they manage to win the jackpot.
when i was still a boy and living with my uncle in one of the states here in Nigeria, I remember there was a time a lottery company came to the state, it was a new company but rose to become very popular in their entire state due to heavy promotions, they ran a monthly lottery and almost every family in the state was in participation, my uncle played in the first month but won nothing, he played the second, third and fourth month but still won nothing, he gave up, he wife tried to encourage him to keep trying but he refused stating its a waste of time and resources..

Many even though the money needed to buy a ticket isnt always expensive, they still easily give up after playing a couple of times without winning.
Lotteries are nothing more than a numbers game. Probability has a crucial role. The thought of winning the jackpot is certainly enticing. The promise of such a windfall is like the song of a siren. However, the reality is that you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than winning the lottery.

Sadly, your uncle's story is not unique. Exuberance, optimism, and expectation are followed by a crushing sense of letdown. Simply repeat the process. Its not the price of the tickets that matters, but the pattern they establish. Little purchases here and there can quickly add up to a sizable sum. That money may have been put away for the future or invested in a more promising venture. So, I agree with your uncle, dude. You shouldnt waste good money on bad investments.
What makes it interesting and pushes up for us to bet more or buying those tickets is that we are really that daydreaming that we do able to hit up the jackpot and even comes to a point that you are already thinking
on how you would really be spending those money or on what things you would gonna buy. Relate? Im also guilty with this on which it is really that giving a good feeling on seeing those numbers for you to hit.
Its not bad to wish up for but you would really be needing all luck in the world for you to hit up a lottery. We know that probabilities are really that slim but the possibility is there as long you do purchase a ticket.
It is really that continuous thing on which we are really that pursuing on hitting the jackpot and now on the time that we do saw someone who do hit up then regrets on how much you have spend
on the ticket would really be the main emotions that you would felt out right away.  Cheesy

Your worlds are quite logical because there is no guarantee of winning the lottery. If someone buys lottery tickets at a certain rate throughout his life, there is no assurance that he will win rather there is a high probability that he will loss. So all the time in his life that he spends his money on the lottery can be said to be a total waste. In this case, many people think that if fate favors him, then he can win. But that number is negligible. If a small amount of money can be spent which is not a problem, then a person can buy a lottery to find his luck.
Just buy one ticket in every lottery, technically you has a chance to win every lottery even though the chance is near to 0%. However I think the popularity of lottery is greatly reduced due to impossible to win and there's no fun when you buy the ticket. Unlike sports betting where you can watch the match and enjoy it.

What's make lottery is bad because there's no transparency to pick the winner, that's why most people think lottery is a rigged game.

Betting on lottery is just a hobby for other people so its not good to be treated like a fool since not all lottery bettor is insane or got crazy about this. Maybe if they spend a lot of money upon buying more tickets then maybe they are since getting a lot of ticket will mot guarantee us anything and we might just waste our money for thinking about getting an easy win for that decision we take. Maybe those people continue to bet for long time doesn't really care about the small money they spent because some just want to have fun seeing the result and counting losses is not really their main concern since they just want to feel more excitement when participating on lotteries which there's a huge reward at stake.
Lotteries are one of the most expensive parts of gambling but only if one understands that, because people mostly ignore the fact that they are losing a lot of money because they lose it in portions. Let's suppose someone is buying $50 worth of tickets every week, and they've been doing this for years but never managed to win anything significant, now they might think they are not losing much but if they count the losses, they would realize how much they've lost so far.

So those who think of continuing to buy lottery tickets and try their luck even after not winning anything for years, need to understand that if they had the luck for that, they would have already won something significant, so it's basically pointless to keep wasting money like this.

$50 is roughly the amount I spend in lotteries in a whole year!! spending such amount of money weekly in lotteries is insane, or at least very unreasonable. But humans tend to make unreasonable financial decisions, like those who sign a lifetime mortgage (very typical at least in my country), so I'm sure that some people falls into this error too more than I wanted to imagine.

It is true that, when you play so much, you inevitably get a fraction of your spendings back in the form of small winnings, but taking into account my little experience with lottery calculators that amount does not reach a third of the investment.

To me, and repeating my main idea about this type of bet, the minimum amount is enough to get the most out of it: the right to dream, to live little moments of optimism in a life in which not everything is rosy.

The point is that people can play the lottery with a dollar or so and still have a tiny chance of earnings millions, while to play at a casino they will have to spend more money on their bets, possibly doubling it on each winning, if we go for dice, roulette, crash, mines... It looks easier to profit from traditional casinos games on short run, although we can't say for how long we are going to manage to do this with success, as luck can change at anytime.

Lotteries are still a cheaper activity compared to casinos games, and that is why many people prefer this alternative, since they don't have more money they can afford to lose gambling. I would say it's a responsible decision by them. Moreover, they still have some fun checking lottery's results every week. It's a kind of habit which is part of their weekly routine already.
However studies show that the ones that gamble at the lottery the most is the sector of the population with the least resources, so while for many people a dollar may not seem like much, that same amount is not so easily available for those which earn just the minimum wage or even less on their jobs, and if they do this several times a week then suddenly something that may not seem like a big deal transform into a big problem, as the chances they will ever see a return on the money they spend at the lottery is minimal.
Obviously, it is the poorest classes of the population who most often play the lottery and possibly regularly lose small amounts of money.  However, even though such people almost never win, we should not treat them as stupid and short-sighted and not smart people.  The thing is that by buying a lottery for very little money, such a person buys hope for a possible, albeit almost unbelievable, opportunity to significantly increase his well-being and hope for a completely different, rich and carefree life.  And those rare cases when such a dream comes true and which are always told to residents from the media constantly fueling interest in lotteries.
I think that such a cherished dream is still worth the little money that a person spends on the lottery.  But, of course, if he buys a lottery ticket not with the last of his money set aside for food and accommodation for his entire family.

       -   I agree that people who rely on the lottery shouldn't really be treated like fools. There is nothing we can do if that is what they expect to lift them out of the poverty they are in. Maybe because they hear about those who were once poor and won the lottery, they live with hope and hope because they think that it can happen to them too even though it is really impossible.

That's why others have been patiently betting on the lottery for years, even decades, hoping that they will also get the jackpot. but they don't notice that they are also wasting time to work hard in life. Instead of just relying on the lottery to make them suddenly rich.

You should agree with me that not everyone lottery attempts attracts the use of money to secure a slot, there are free lottery tickets but in this case it must have to be one slot per user, multiple entries may leads to automatic disqualification, this is common with the government control lottery application rules and some private organizations lottery opportunities, we don't have much interest for lottery application because it's chances are very small, some takes time to come out and later dash applicant hope to nothing after long time expectations for a positive outcome.

Can't agree more. If it's what makes these people happy and it is what keeps them motivated to dream, then I guess it shouldn't be an argument.
While it is really one in a million to won the lottery, these people are eyeing and clinging onto that hope no matter how small. I believe one of their mantra is as long as they are breathing, there is hope. And that's totally true. Although it just depends on how you will use that phrase to justify what you do. It's okay to gamble as long as you have a spare. It just becomes unreasonable if someone is so poor that he can't afford to buy a ticket, but still buys regardless of his financial capabilities because I think that's just plain irresponsible behavior. It's not wrong to buy a lottery ticket once in a while no matter what your social status is, but make sure that you don't sacrifice your necessities and your priorities just to be able to get a lotto ticket. Because winning isn't guaranteed after all.

To be honest, I think that such a case is when a certain person buys a lottery ticket with the last money, literally set aside by his family for food.
And after this purchase of the coveted lottery ticket, he himself and his family and children began to starve.  It seems to me that this is a rather exotic and rare case.  And in the life of people this almost never happens.
And people buy lottery tickets for the most part without even attaching any special significance to it and with the expectation that the money spent on a lottery ticket has no effect on their overall financial well-being.

actually Lottery is indeed addicting , My grandfather is truly a lotto addict as since I was born till he died(as those are the time I remember) and yes a close officemate of mine (back in the days) is also addicted to lottery that he spends 20% of his daily wages just to buy ticket of lottery .
something that I will never accept for people to take that chance, Imagine if they will only use those amount of money instead of buying ticket? why not use to invest in bitcoin or at least out in banks so after how many years they will surely have money to take out than risking to lottery that will give you almost zero chance to win.

We have our own preferences including your grand father, I'm sure your grandpa know that what he did would not affect the whole life of his family.
You compare it to bitcoin investment because you know about it already through the history, but how if the situation happened in the early days of bitcoin.
Will you spend 20% of your daily wages to invest in bitcoin which is something you have no idea what is it?
On the other possible scenario, will you still say the same if your grandpa lets say won jackpot few times?

The next fact is quite personal, but I have to admit that my father has also played at least since I can remember, and although the money he spent weekly was little, now that he is older and has less dreams left that can be fulfilled, I am aware that he is spending much more than what he used to spend years ago.

Fortunately, he doesn't spend so much as the 20% daily wages you mentioned (or worse), but although I have spoken with him about the waste it supposes to spend more than the minimum amount each time, he keeps pursuing his dream by buying several tickets at a time.

On the other hand, if I tell him to invest in Bitcoin, he says that this is not for him, but for me. And I understand him. Most of us have hope in holding for dear life because most of us are still young (or at least not old). My father would like to see the family prosper while he lives, not to leave any Bitcoin legacy.

That's true 1 lottery ticket is sufficient enough to make someone a winner of the lottery because in these games the more someone buys the higher are the chances of that person to win the lottery. Only those people who are extremely lucky can win with a single lottery ticket, and I believe that those people are exceptional few in the world.

The other lucky people also need to buy more tickets in order to have a winning lottery. The lottery games are 100% luck oriented and anyone who is lucky enough will win in those games with far more success than the less lucky people. Lottery games are also luck based games and anyone who is lucky will win in these games and those who aren't lucky will never win even if they buy 100's of tickets.
But some people buy lottery tickets just to see if they can win like everyone else or if they will lose. But it turns out that they managed to win the prize and some were even able to get the jackpot so this is a rare case in lottery games. Such people exist. They have probably never played the lottery before and have only heard other people talk about their losing lottery buys. And it was because of that person's luck that he managed to make him win the jackpot prize so he got a lot of money. But we can't be like him because our luck will surely be different.

    -  In short "A one in a million blue" millions of bettors are betting on participating to get the jackpot even though most people know that they are unlikely to win they still bet. Because it depends on luck.

It is true that most people who take part in lotteries are from the poor side of the economy because they have the thought and hope that they might win something significant that will change their life for once, and that hope keeps them taking part in the lottery every single time when they can. People who are already financially stable don't need to do that because they are not in need of money and even if they do, they probably have other ways of earning it.

However, those who take part in lotteries have very small chances of winning a prize or the grand prize which might contain a life-changing amount, so most of the time, the money they spend on the tickets is lost and if they are not already doing so good, it is not a good thing for them.

There's no exemption to this when it comes to status of a certain individual but its true that the ones who are really that fan of making bettings or lottery is into those people who do live on poverty or even on middle-class on which they would really be a fan off on making betting on lotteries and hoping that they could be able to hit up the jackpot on which it is really just that normal that they would really be having that kind of wish or hopes that they would be able to hit it up and make their lives totally be changed in we do speak about financial status which this would really be happening.

Chances and probabilities are really that slim and close to impossible and this is why it would be always ideal that you shouldnt really be expecting something or really that being too optimistic if you dont really like
on getting annoyed or really that disappointed everytime the result wouldnt really be the number that you are betting. Promise you, ive been there and its something that really gives out that bad feeling
and stress on which it is something that you shouldnt feel on the first place. Bet according into entertainment and not really have that kind of hope and wishes.

And when a dollar doesn't seem like a lot, they can spend it on lottery tickets because they can get multiple lottery tickets with that one dollar.
By doing it again the next day or the next week, they still hope to become a lottery winner one day, even though they don't know when they will win.
But they still buy the lottery ticket and some have even bought it years ago because it was in the local news that the winner did it a long time ago.
We see how much they hoped to win and weeded out the thousands of lottery buyers who had the same hope to win.
And they know that to become a lottery winner, it takes one stroke of luck and boom, they will become millionaires or even billionaires.
