Just wanted to make you guys aware that between yesterday 4/7/2014 and today 4/8/2014 i noticed that my btc payout address had been changed without my authorization. It was changed from 16rBgvegJnDWQtakxc6ChYaUu2fozuDk47 (which has been my legitimate address since i started with hashcows) to 1GxdwuYxuoJEtzoJrxv2mQQ4344YgqUAzv (bad address that i don't recognize).

The team appreciate the feedback. There have been one or two other reports like this, the first within hours of the heartbleed openssl exploit becoming public knowledge. Nearmiss patched the server against the vulnerability as early as possible today. If anyone else has similar issues, please email support@hashco.ws with full info to help nearmiss investigate - but the initial hunch is that it was an opportunistic thing using heartbleed.

I changed my address back and did a cashout of my funds. None of my bitcoins seem to have been lost. I have already changed my password with hashcows and will look to further secure things on my end. I never wrote the password down and i used a password that i have never used on any other site. I know online security is a myth and this is not an accusation of any kind, just a heads to the other members of this community to check their payout addresses. I know this might just be an isolated incident of my password being brute forced or something, but in light of the December Hack I would prefer to be safe than sorry.Maybe nearmiss and his team can take a look internally? or maybe add another step to changing btc addreses? wemineltc 4 digit pin to make changes comes to mind.

This seems to be a hot issue with multipools lately. Wafflepool implemented new code a few weeks back to cut back on the number of borderline shares that were being submitted right as a coin switch took place.

This is EXTREMELY bad advice.

Hence the disclaimer at the bottom.

Incidentally, can you point out to me where hashco.ws FAQ talks about stales?  Tongue (hint: it doesn't)

When I've asked nearmiss in the past whether we should submit stales to hashco.ws, the answer has been no.

You're obviously free to pursue a life of stale submitting happiness. I will continue to heed good pool etiquette, based on the response I got from the pool owner.

wow this is a first for me (user temporarily banned) after every share. looks like to me i've been getting shares and am not getting credit for them. i'd like to know why i was banned, my rig is mediocre at best.

User temp banned is normally too many rejects in a short space of time. Can happen when we're mining really fast coins, amongst other things. Make sure you aren't submitting stales as the pool doesn't pay out on them, and I think it could be a factor if you submit a shitload.

This is EXTREMELY bad advice.  When on a multi-coin pool like Hashcows (or one with a pseudo shares like p2pool) you should ALWAYS submit stales.  CGMiner and it's derivatives are not savvy to Blockchain switches and will consider many valid shares as stale that the pool would accept during coin switches.  If you don't submit the "stales" you're throwing out a large portion of valid work. That's why all multi coin switching pools always mention to submit stales in their FAQs.

Thanks UKGunner. So, based on the last few posts, it is normal that I have some balances that have been 'stuck' under 'unexchanged' and 'confirmed exchanged,' correct?

This is normal for hashcows. Those balances don't reflect every coin in the system, due to the way some coins are manually traded. I generally ignore those balances and just pay attention to the important one, what ends up in the actual balance after each payout.

Then why mine those coins if there is no liquidity on them. After 12 hours or 2 days the price might drop by half and our mining time was wasted.

I will wait but something doesn't seem right about this pool. If it was profitable, then it would have a higher hash-rate.

It's rare to get completely stuck with coins but it can happen. There are checks in place as part of the algorithm to decide whether the market depth exists to successfully trade out, but shit happens. If you're not happy I suggest going elsewhere rather than spreading your fud in the thread. The pool has been going since last year, with many miners who have stuck with it since the beginning. Perhaps we're all fucking idiots? Or perhaps we've found it to be as profitable as any other, and often more so..  Wink

Usual disclaimer - I don't speak for the pool or work for them, I'm just a user.

Not to sure on the exchanged and unexchanged balances, i dont use the pools exchange feature i cashout to exchange wallets and then exchange the coins when and for the price i want. I would guess though if the potcoin client was on the wrong version that could explain some of the unexchaged balances as the coins could not be cashed out or exchanged as they are coming from the wrong chain, so worth nothing.

Might want to check your Potcoin client version, have made 3 payouts today and not one was received. They have updated the client and forked, so either you or Cryptsy are on the wrong chain.

Something weird is going on with Potcoin, I suddenly can't synch my wallet but yet when I compare the version against the version available for download on the official potcoin website, they are the same version...

Version numbers are still the same 0.8.6.3 the only difference is the new version has removed the unk before the beta in the version name.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.6119602

Fork happened at block 1580000 so any client on the wrong chain after this block is mining invalid coins worth nothing.

Does anybody else have balance stuck in "Confirmed Exchanged"? Been like this for a week.

Yes there is always some confirmed exchanged in there and it might mean that some goes to your wallet and more comes in it
and the balances seems always around the same

1. for the new coins to be auto-traded or not by default would be great
2. allow payout in other coins like you did for MINT
consider BC, or other not minable coins

"Confirmed exchanced" is 0.003 BTC. "Current balance" is 0.so i cant withdraw.been like this over a week.i havent mined there for two weeks.that cant be normal?

Add more coin payouts.Mint is just useless.

SCAM POOL! AVOID!

I have been monitoring the coins and blocks that the pool is generation and it seems profitable. However the admin steals 50% of the profits for himself.

AVOID AT ALL COST. This is the reason why nobody mines there anymore. Admin got greedy and is scamming everybody.

AVOID!!!!!

HA junior member calling scam in big bold font. what proof do you have of scamming? *cough* none. now back to doge reddit where you came from. Nearmiss has proven he's trustworthy on many occasions firstly with scrypt mining and now with hashcows. Even after they got hacked

Ahmed

What he said ^^

Also, I still see a few moans about lack of earnings after 20 hours mining at the pool. For those who have only just joined us, read back a few pages through this thread and you'll see this gripe answered multiple times. If the thread is tl;dr - you have a delay between mining rounds and getting paid. Sometimes this delay can be a long time.. 2-3 days or more..
