You could say that ETH getting more popular, but i think that isn't what describe the ETH getting so much popular. It will just the utilization of the coin itself.

I am sure that today Ethereum has many advantages for investors. Including the use of blockhain and the creation of a powerful functional platform for the development of new promising ICO. I believe that this is the second most popular and potential coin in the entire crypto market, second only to BTC.

Not really a good marketing campaign, it's just the ability of creating smart contract platform and deploying erc20 token at that time is still a new thing and people are getting reminded a lot of ethereum and then it's inserted to people's brain.
that's why the competitor will hardly compete with ethereum because it's just already in mind of many people.

Probably the greatest advantage that ethereum has over most other coins is its popularity, this means that many icos are looking to release their project above the ethereum network because they know that a lot more people are holding ethereum than holding any other coin that belongs to another smart contract platform but if the popularity of ethereum subsides it is possible that it could be replaced by another coin.

I think with smart contract, ethereum always needed for paying transaction fee. Beside that, with smart contract, bussiness platform can use ethereum network because its its more eficient
