The clowns in charge of the crazy house in Kiev made catastrophic mistakes after they took over power, now they double down by pushing even harder in the wrong direction, alienating the East/South even more and begging them to hold an annexation referendum to Russia.

Das Fuhrer Yats has it figured: Any wrong directions is right direction as long as I have EU/NATO and 'the progressive west' supporting and justifying his agenda.

There will be comments, what's the hurry? Meanwhile, we're waiting for Yats & co. to start burning books written in Russian language.

In the meantime in Ukraine:

Criminals in Kiev don't like the prosecutor of Crimea:
http://rt.com/news/prosecutor-poklonskaya-wanted-crimea-349/

The freedom of speech at its best:
http://rt.com/news/ukraine-court-bans-russian-tv-245/

On the same note, an ISP was beaten up almost to death and was forced to "apologise to the Ukrainian people" before cameras for providing access to Russian internet sites.

PS: For the laughs:

(I should probably start an "Meanwhile in Alaska" thread soon  Grin )

thats BS tho, since a petition just has to reach 10k for being examined by the WH and be rejected. Justin Bieber wasnt expelled from the US with more than 250k signatures.  Cry

That petition is just a political statement that US should look at its internal affairs and stop bothering the world. No one is going to give Alaska back to Russia, and Russia would most probably not want to have it back if it was on offer. There is enough strain managing Far Eastern territories as it is.

They need 100,000 votes before April 20. Plenty of time and looks possible.

The petition for Alaska's joining Russia, that was published on the pages of White House has gathered about 22000 votes. It needs to have 100000 votes until the 20th of April before it can receive an official reaction from the US government.

EDIT: almost 23000 votes already and counting, and it's only been going for a few days.
EDIT 2: 24000 a couple of hours later...

A large minority of the super-rich Russians have an utter disregard for domestic products, such as cars (Lada.etc) and computers. Therefore they prefer the imports, especially from Germany and other EU nations. If the EU declares an embargo, it will force these idiots to buy the Russian products (or they can catch the next flight and go to London for their daily shopping).

And by the way, general consensus in the Russian population is that sanctions (especially in the banking and foods sector) would be good for Russia, forcing the government to finally build up domestic production and generally become more centred on domestic needs.

Russia imports almost everything and exports only Petroleum, Gas and Metals.

So the options will be:

1. Import everything from China
2. Reduce imports, rise excise duty and encourage domestic production.

The 2nd option seems the better one for me. But it is up to Putin to decide.

I am also for option 2, and I see it as pretty likely. If real sanctions are imposed (especially with no other reason than "because we can"), Russians, a man in the street, will perceive it as US de-facto declaring war on Russia. And throughout time during outside aggression, Russians were prepared to cope with hardships, so in this case many peace-time unpopular measures would get support from the population, which switches to a war-time mindset.

Speaking at a brief news conference in the Hague, President Obama said he's more worried about a loose nuke being detonated in Manhattan than he is about Russia:

The only true way to change the people at the top, is to change the people at the bottom.
Yep, but even if all the people are idealists, an ideology could be flawed. Ideological flaw will maintain a slow disruption of the political system. A conception of liberal democracy simply doesn't work as it proposed, because it leads to corporate monopoly and corruption. This way means that ordinary people have no right to participate in any decisions, only cheap illusion is available (Obama, McCain, Bush ==> same shit, nothing more than capital puppets). And it won't work in any other way...

Possible solution is to use an adaptation of democratic centralism conception for a mixed (both public and private owned) economy. Such system would be much more sustainable, if comparison will be performed in the identical conditions.

P.S. Something like this approach already tried in the RSFSR (New Economic Policy by Lenin) after the end of WW and Civil War. This policy allowed to archieve certain goals, a totally ruined economy very quickly recovered to pre-WW levels. China and Vietnam are trying to develop the similar systems now.

...And Right Sector announced vendetta and intends to revenge acting interior minister of Ukraine for the death of their thug.

If that was a revolution in Ukraine, it sure started eating its bastard children.

All the so called revolutions are the same, starting with the first french revolution. Its all bastards that gives the illusion of a democracy.

^ this

The problem with revolutions is the people revolting never actually change themselves. They get angry and overthrow the authority, and then just implement new leadership that is just as corrupt and incompetent as what came before.

It's the same with the top-down approaches. Foreign imperial powers paint themselves as liberators, and then put into power castrated puppets.

The only true way to change the people at the top, is to change the people at the bottom.

It seems that nazis are planning to start a mutual destruction. So, they'll forgot about the Crimea soon.

Your estimate is correct
Like spiders in a can:
http://rt.com/news/yarosh-nationalist-resign-killing-157/

First Yarosh and his cohorts shot at, disbanded and humiliated Berkut (golden eagle) and now he's attacking another bird, demanding arrest of the commander of Sokol (falcon).
