Hi bantano,

Whichever ANN you want to make, or posts you want to attach images inside, please remember that you should never over use images.
And if you attach images inside your posts, please remember to use those options:
width and, or height to adjust images to appropriate size in order to avoid over large images, that obviously bring annoying feelings to readers.
For example:
Code:
[img width=x height=y]hyperlink to image[/img]
using x for desired width of your image, whilst using y for height of your image.
And you can use boths options (width, height) or only one of them.

The day I get my first merit will be an awesome day. Let's see. I just want to post an ANN
After the activation of merit system more than one years ago, 30 activity count does  not help you to display images, because you need to get at least 1 merit to become Junior member, that have rights to display images.

As proposed by others, the best option for you is buying a Copper Member, it is not too expensive, I think.

If all you want is to make a cool ANN with images, you can always buy the Copper Member upgrade, which enables images and other small Member-like perks for you.

Newbies can now pay a small fee to enable images

Dear LoyceV, please give me your phone
I'm quite attached to my phone, you can't have it.

I'm amazed how you can spot such plagiarism
It's easy: if someone has 19 shitposts and 1 decent post, all it takes is copying some text into Google, surround it by double quotes, and report the plagiarism.

I'm really thankful because the spam annoys me as well! Smiley[/quote]

Dear LoyceV, please give me your phone because my neighbour has lost his dog and we need a highly skilled detective! Are you up to the task? ;P

I'm amazed how you can spot such plagiarism, I guess they posted with one account after the other but still, it's amazing how you spot them.
Thanks for wasting ahem spending your time to help the forums, I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really thankful because the spam annoys me as well! Smiley

This is surprisingly complicated for a Forum.
It might be unusual to link something like merits for posts to your rank on a forum--I've never seen it before--but believe me, it's necessary here.  Don't know how familiar you are with bitcointalk, but a lot of members here are in signature campaigns and thus are paid to post, and as you would expect that attracts a lot of people from all over the world, desperate for money and who aren't necessarily qualified for any sort of writing job in a language they may not be proficient in.  Most sig campaigns only pay for posts in English, and obviously that isn't everyone's first language.  The result is that bitcointalk became flooded with garbage posts, many of which either don't add anything useful or just don't make any sense whatsoever.

And the higher your rank, the more advertising space you get in your signature, so we had people farming accounts and ranking them up either to sell or to enter into these campaigns.  It got so bad by late 2017 that Theymos finally interceded and created the merit system, and now in order to rank up you need a certain amount of merits to get to each rank.  Merits are given at the discretion of individual members if they have any to give, and the result is that now it's much, much harder to rank up.  That's the history and a description of the merit system in a nutshell.

It's really not all that complicated, because it's basically a "like" function, except that the number of likes (merits) you can give out isn't unlimited.  There are so-called merit sources, members who are given a monthly allocation of sendable merits (sMerits), and their purpose is to liberally merit good posts and thus allow members to rank up, although those merits certainly can be given to Legendary members who can't rank up any more than that.

It's a rough culture here, but you'll figure it out here if you stick around long enough.

This is surprisingly complicated for a Forum.

I'm almost saddened to say I still don't fully understand the concept.
There's a whole section dedicated to newbies, where you can find loads of sources to bettter understand how the forum works, even before how the subject of the forum works (way more difficult!).

Check the board Beginners & Help
There are plenty of guides, like this one I wrote myself just to help newbies writing good post and progress through the ranks: Ranking up is Possible! My top 10 Hints!
Hope it helps.

How so? Many big forums I know require likes/upvotes to rank up between a rank and another. This is the same.

Make good posts = get merits = rank up. Easy.

Yesterday I created a post that shows the breakdown of the merit distribution by week, detailing the amount per section/subsection for each week of 2019, and summarizing 2018 as a block. Some local boards seem to be suffering quite a bit, be if due to a lack of decent posts or a lack of awarded merit (i.e. Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Romanian, etc.)

The recent variation from one week to another in terms of net sMerits is small, but regardless we can see the inner doings here:

The chart is broken down by section/subsection (but no further . i.e. childboards), and each numeric column is the week number (where week Nº 10 is the current week and therefore partial). <…>

This clearly shows that we need more merit sources in our local communities.

There are few requests from members to be a merit source. There are only a few posts supporting these applications because local communities are not big and strong enough to show more support.

With only a few comments these threads are gone between hundreds of others.

I ask everybody to show support in these threads. We need a few posts to get attention please comment there.

First is from @coinlocket$ to be a merit source in Italian local forum. Here link:

Second is from Polish local community member @Bitcryptex. Link:

Very informative and interesting report.
Also what happened to the Italian board? It has almost disapperared! (Asking for a friend)

ignoring the donator/admin/donator/vip/staff/brand new rank

I used to track them but other people are doing a better job, using data from here. https://public.tableau.com/profile/ddmrddmr#!/vizhome/BitcointalkMeritDashboard/GlobalSummary

Yes those ranks are skipped since they are the 0.000000000000000000000x something about the forum population.

The chart was used long time ago here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.31449020 I've only updated data, yours seems better tbh.

You, again, made a great weekly update in the topic.
Overall sMerit From rank to rank, ignoring the donator/adming/donator/vip/staff/brand new rank

Personally, I don't like the first chart.
The reason behind this is the chart is too difficult to see which rank is highest, which rank is lowest.
I thought that you have very good ideas, but it the chart will express your ideas better if you use bar chart.
If I were you, I would use horizontal bar chart for the case, coinlocket$

For example:

I don't know why sums of both colums or rows do not equal to 100 percent. What's wrong?
Or are there missing data?

Edited:
I look back at your thread, it seems that I found reasons

how can i get merits, anyone willing to give please
I do reiterate CryptopreneurBrainboss point.
Merits are not given away (I could point some notable exceptions, but it wouldn’t help), but rewarding good posts.
If you really care about merits you might draw inspiration from my guide on how to write good post and THEN getting merits

Worst decision ever, this act of your (begging for merit) is strongly frown at and might earn you some red trust and possibly end you on must reputed users ignore list. If you feel you deserve some merit based on your previous quality posts that you have contributed to the forum, participate in Giveaways dedicated to helping user within your rank status to rank up.

JeromeTash,
You can get it there.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.48183121
coinlocket$ dropped the table, so it is lack of colums' headers.

I made a topic to trace the change of merit circulations over last 7 weeks after the Default Trust Change occured on 9th Jan. 2019.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.50040066
After 7 weeks, both median and mean of intraday-merits between before and after period are almost the same (less than 4.2% differences)
