Well not passing when under the safety car is a very basic rule, there is no racing under the SC ! BTW when Max had his moment Leclerc should have passed him. I see journalists asked him about that : https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/leclerc-explains-why-he-didnt-pass-verstappen/6334298/

It was really great race. What an amazing start for Verstappen - after it he was driving alone, nobody were able to give competition for him.
Hamilton did mistake while overtaking lapped cars, but he made great comeback after it.
Perez had bad luck today. He got stop/go penalty in stupid way.
And I don't know why Russel is blaming Bottas for crash. I think Bottas left enough space for him, it was Russel mistake.

In my opinion, formula 1 is already overregulated, safety should be a top priority, but in my old age I wish I had the gravel beds and refill the gasoline and simpler rules so i loves old school tracks.

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/raikkonen-loses-points-after-post-race-imola-penalty/6334393/

In retrospect, the points were deducted from Kimi, which was not entirely understandable for me personally also see Perez he overtake and become a penalty, at Alfa Romeo no one know how to handle it.
Bottas and Russell's accident was a racing accident for me, and neither of them was 100% to blame.

They always do blame each other, in that situation. Whenever there is a crash it is usual for both drivers to blame the other one. It's quite rare that they admit being at fault.

Overall, fantastic start from Verstappen, which won him the race. And he did superbly one he had the lead.

Rare mistake from Hamilton, but an incredible recovery (helped by the red flag). I think a lot of drivers after that crash would have just got out of the car... but Hamilton knows every point could be vital, and it was amazing that he fought back to 2nd and got fastest lap, too.

Not sure what we learned about Red Bull vs Mercedes. Verstappen held the lead, but Hamilton was coming back at him at the end. How much was Verstappen just taking it easy with his 20 second cushion? The question continues into the next race...

Aston Martin is complaining that the new regulations hit them (and Mercedes) unfairly, but the problem si that the Mercedes with Hamilton still wins poles and races and best lap, so it doesn't help their case.

I don’t think Aston Martin was complaining.  The team was just stating a fact.  The regulation change did hit low rake cars like Merc and Aston Martin and increased pace of high rake cars like Red Bull and Alpha Tauri.

And Merc emgineers prolly made clever tweaks and decisions to make their car more competitive.

It is a driver difference in this case which is Hamilton. He is clearly one of the most skillful drivers and winning the pole was 100% his merit. We all can see now that the difference is really small between Mercedes and RedBull so the case of Aston Martin I think it stands.

I just want to say Welcome back marc marquez, hope you make a win on portugal.

Rosi fell on lap 11, even though he had just overtaken Marini and behind Marquez.
I think Marquez started from 6th position. Marc Marquez is currently behind Aleix Espargaro, in 8th place.
Rins takes fifth place, and zarco out.

Yesterday there were a lot of crashes, the Portimao track is very demanding for the riders due to the up and down and front wheel mistakes can easily happen. I find demanding routes built in nature more interesting for spectators at the track and at TV.

Seems Portugal has quite the challenging circuit, my eye was on Valentino Rossi, he looks confused got crashed cause his motor tires being skid. Another interesting moment is Marquez's comeback after 9 months injured and finish in 7th, he has great mental racer, he might be getting a better lap in Circuito de Jerez, Spain.

I think Marc Marquez is not yet driving 100%, he is certainly aware that if he should crash hard again it could mean the end of his career, I think he is not 100% fit and painless yet.

he might be getting a better lap in Circuito de Jerez, Spain.
That's right, I don't think he's put on the best form yet. The prediction of winning in Portugal is only to scare other drivers. Honda longs for victory, they are very patient waiting for Marquez to recover. Maybe the changes to the motor coming from Marquez's input were needed. The next series May 2, the Spanish MotoGP at the Jerez Circuit. Is Yamaha back as champions again?

Last year Yamaha dominates the two Jerez GPs also Rossi have there his last Podest place, the years before only Marc can beat success all other brands. So my tip Yamaha or Suzuki.

Yeah it was really quite a chaotic and therefore an entertaining race to watch because of the rain. It was a nice and uncontested win by verstappen after hamilton made the mistake and was off the track.
That he still managed to reach the second placer after his mistake where he was like half a minute off the track and also damaged his frontwing baffles me. Of course he was also very lucky that right after his mistake bottas and russell had their crash which lead to a safety car phase which allowed him to come closer again.

Can’t wait for the Portuguese GP in a couple of weeks!  I haven’t been as excited for F1 in a looong time.  It’s gonna be neck and neck between Verstappen and Hamilton!

For a while there I thought we were gonna get all three next generation drivers to get the podiums until Hamilton broke the party.

Marquez hasn't been able to perform 100% or is the honda he's wearing not good? Looks like he needs to reset the bike, to be more powerful.  Congratulations to Quartararo he's a champion. Starting from 17th, Rossi had to fall. Morbidelli was great he used an old bike but he finished fourth.

The Portimao circuit is simply a beautiful route, I am surprised that the inline four-cylinder are pevormed really good and not Ducati, even if you can always see how powerful the Ducati engine is. But there is still more than 10 rounds. Also crash from Rossi  Huh Huh don't by him...

I think it's time for Rossi to say goodbye to Moto GP and I feel bad for him to have such a season because he had high hopes and none of them are present anymore for him. In my opinion, Rossi should've retired some years ago when he had a good statistical career and he was still on top instead of going down like and simply ruining all his stats. I will always admire the pilot and the man Rossi but I can't watch him drive anymore....

There are only one and an hour left for the race. I'm looking forward to watch it. I believe that we will watch a great race considering the qualifying results. Perez made a really good surprise by taking the 2nd spot and he was even nearly taking the pole position. But he couldn't do it because of a mistake he did in the last turn.
