I made bet that Kimi Raikonnen will win ‘group 3’ in qualifying.  I didn’t think that Williams would have the pace.  But looking at both FP1 and FP2, it looks like I’m throwing my money away again.  Lol.  That former WRC VW super team working on the Williams could be legit.

As always good Redbull and Mercedes.
So far here it seems Ferrari as 3rd and Mclaren can't fight for it.

Well for the majority of the fans is only moving the qualify from Saturday to earlier and having a 40-minute mini GP on Saturday and a full GP on Sunday.
The rules about tires are only for the "nerds" of the sports for the majority of people it will not make an appearance in their head.

The thing is though, the cap on expenditure this season could have big repercussions for the sprint race. Teams only have a small amount of money to spend. We saw Toto talking about it after the Bottas crash last race... how Russell as a Mercedes driver was irresponsible, given that the money it takes to repair a car is money that is taken out of the development budget.

I can't see drivers going all out in the sprint races. Yes they'll want to get a good position, but equally they will try hard not to trash the car.

@Cnut237 if this is the case then I feel the teams who take a risk and not care if they wreck the car in process can finish at a better spot, and if that happens than maybe we can see some other drivers win the races. Also do you’ll actually feel that Mercedes and Ferrari will instruct their drivers to take care of their cars, even if it means finishing at a lower spot?.

I remember that last year I accidentally got live stream of Moto E race on my Youtube feed. I watched a bit of it and race left me strange impression in comparison with good old Moto GP.

Perhaps the strange thing is the sound, there is no engine sound before the motor runs. I think this is part of an environmentally friendly promotion, like formula E. I just read that Motor E is also capable of run at a speed of 270km / h almost like an oil-fueled motorbike. They use an electric motor supplied by an Italian company, Energica. The weight of the motorbike also reaches 260 kg, heavier than the MotoGp, only 158 kg.

It seems that it has been 3 seasons, but I just found out that there is an electric motorbike race. This amazed me, apart from Formula E there seems to be Moto E. In fact, I have never seen this race and know the engine system. I don't know if this is still in this topic or I have to create a new Topic.
According to sources I got the first series will take place this weekend. There are 18 riders who will compete this season. The following is a list of the teams and the names of the drivers.

The MotoE 2021 provisional calendar was released on 11 November 2020, featuring 7 races across 6 venues, The following is the full schedule for the Moto E series.

Likewise, I also did not see the drivers' airbag pockets open when they fall or an accident occurs. I also just found out that they actually have airbags in their clothes. I was a little surprised, but if the airbags were working at least a crash like Marquez used to be wouldn't be that bad.
I'm not that familiar with Moto GP, but similar airbags are used in off-road moto racing like Dakar:

I don't know how effective it's, but I think that even minimal safety improvement is good thing.

I can't imagine the sprint race either and I'll wait and see if it's exciting and how exactly it goes with the tires for Sunday. Do the teams then also have one more set of tires available?

When is the Miami city race planned for 2022?

Yep Miami 2022. We already have a video and it seems a nice track.

Jorge Martin's crash looks bad, and I didn't see anything like an airbag even if apparently there is one according to the graph.

He just had surgery so planning on his return is a bit early I feel.

So I’ve been hearing news about sprint racing that’s going to be tested in three GP’s this year.  I watched a video about it, explaining it and it just confused me.  Lol.  Let’s see how it goes and if it makes every GP better for the fans.  I wonder how it changes from a betting perspective tho.

So are the rumors. In the Miami circuit which we will race for the first time this year I saw a virtual lap around this track and it had huge straights and very low speed corners. It should be really good to watch on TV and also from the betting perspective I expect at least one or more safety car during this race as a sure bet.
I see mixed opinions about sprint races on social media. Personally, I haven't decided how I like idea of sprint races. I want to see it first and rate how I like it.
@swogerino, race in Miami track will be next year, not this season. Basically, it's track in stadium parking. It looks similar to new Jeddah street circuit. I said it many times already, but there is too many boring city circuits in F1 and I don't really like that number of such tracks increase.

The 3 races are official but not confirmed.

The plan is to have Monza Silverston and Interlagos.

I can't assess the new mode yet, it is explained further down, but we will see whether this is more exciting. Apparently the new mode will be tested on 3 tracks this year.

You are right that smaller tires do heat faster and that helps while heavier ones heats slower and that is bad. However reality is that if you have heavier tires that means you are not going to need to change it as frequently as the other ones, which means you do not need that much pit stop

This is true but F1 usually pushes tire developers to a specific target of laps.
F1 wants softer tiers if needed and it will be always this line since pits stops are a variable into a boring sport.

Pirelli often said they could do better tires with similar grip for the entire race but they do not want/can't because F1 said to use degradable tires.

As I said earlier, big tiers mean a bigger distance from breaks to the rubber.
This means the tires will need more time to get the high temperature needed to be in the optimal range, have you ever seen drivers doing hard breakers in the formation lap for heating tires? Tires get the majority of the initial heat from breakings.
This means a huge advantage for the one who will find how to get the higher temperature earlier over opponents.

DAS for example with these tires is a HUGE advantage but it is banned.
If a team can think something out of the schemes for this problem it can earn even 10 seconds on every pit stop.

However reality is that if you have heavier tires that means you are not going to need to change it as frequently as the other ones, which means you do not need that much pit stop, that is the number one deal in F1 where if you need excessive pit stop or you take too much time you can lose many places since it is a sport that decisive in seconds.

If there was a lighter tire, that heats very well and can go the distance like a heavy one that would be great for everyone, and if one team figured it out, all others would definitely steal it and do it themselves too, but it is not possible for now. I believe tire improvements matter a lot, but it is going to be small and fractions of one second changes since all the changes that could be done has already been done with this technology, either we need a better and new technology which needs to pass the rules, or we are going to have similar tires all around.

I interested in reviewing the safety system on the motoGP racer clothes. In the racer 's shirt there are two pockets that protect the racer' s shoulders and collarbone, and can fully expand in less than 0.05 seconds. Every MotoGP racing suit has an accelerometer and a gyroscope. These two components will communicate via an electronic system at a speed of 1,000 times per second. The price is also expensive US $ 1000, but it's worth the features it has

Basically the best one would be to find a way to have just one tire to go all race without any pitspot but that would make you very slow if you have tires like that, a soft tire that can go at least 30+ laps and require only one pit stop would be ideal but that hasn't been figured out yet, so these improvements are all just research for that.
