I think it was Imola last season where things were flooded and they couldn't race there, right? Not sure if I remember it right but that does feel like it could be the possibility. I mean it is clear that we are going to end up with a result that would not be all that easy to handle if the rain is that high again.
Yeah, there was a flood last year which affected the race and the people around it in general[1]. The rain is quite extreme, though I'm not sure if it has been like this for years or has worsened recently.

Tsunoda, who lives near Imola, seems quite excited for the weekend though[2]. He also claims that the people move on quickly after last year's disaster. If there's no flood I think the race will still continue as usual. CMIIW.

Plus, FIA and F1 has been quite strongly against racing during very bad weather, it is not like back in the day, because back in the day we could have seen racers even in terrible conditions, but these days we are talking about much better racing, and a lot more safety. Meaning, if the rain is a lot, we have seen stuff like Belgium, and it looks like Imola will have some rain, not sure how much but I hope it won't be a lot like last year.

I really hope to see a good race, but my expectations are low because this track is very boring and only is fun for the drivers who like to drive there because they said is like a karting track, but for us is a very tricky race and one where the spots to overtake are very low. Maybe some Safety car can bring emotion.

Looking at Red Bull and Verstappen's dominance, I'd welcome the rain and the wet track.  That at least would make the race a little more unpredictable and a little bit more fun to watch.  I want it to be 2025 already...  I really hope Horner leaves for Ferrari.  And Newey too.

I also can't wait for next season mate. We are likely to watch a much better Ferrari as of then. Even the possibility of it is enough to make people excited.  Grin

Rain always adds some fun to races. Even Verstappen becomes unpredictable under such conditions. For example the Singapore GP in last season, Verstappen finished in 5th place if I'm not mistaken.

I wonder what Perez will do this week. He couldn't get to podium in Miami. I expect him to be more ambitious to make it this time. It is really important for him to give his full performance to maintain his seat at Red Bull.

Interesting... the drivers will leave the intense heat of Miami for a possible storm at the Imola Grand Prix. I was also following the forecast on 'The Weather Channel' and for now the forecast is for cloudy skies and around 25 degrees Celsius throughout the three days of F1 activities. But the really interesting thing is this warning with more than 70% probability of a storm occurring on Sunday afternoon, exactly on the day of the race.
I'm honestly hoping this happens and makes the race "a little more" interesting with some teams making mistakes when changing tires, some "sliding" on the track and more exciting overtaking.

Anyway... for now I'm not going to venture any guesses about the day of the race, I'm going to wait until at least Saturday to see what the starting grid will look like.

This is still quite a long wait because everyone will still be enjoying the current era for the next two years or before 2027 arrives. I'm also starting to think that reducing the cubic centimeters in the engine could allow the bike to run slower than it currently does and that the major impact on aerodynamic restrictions will also be more visible when this is actually determined by the organizers. Now the MotoGP competition is starting to look interesting again after fierce competition between several riders, including Marquez, who is now starting to look competitive again in racing.

It will still take some time, and perhaps something will be changed in the new specifications.

The reduction in displacement could result from a slightly lighter bike that is a bit more agile and faster in the corners than the current one, but this is pure speculation on my part.

Life, Love and Laughter...
We have entered another race week which is going to take place in Imola.

The weather conditions at the weekend:

Rain isn't expected on Saturday currently. But on the race day, be ready for an interesting race with some rain.  Smiley

Verstappen became the victim of his own error in Miami and couldn't take the win. I expect a smooth driving from him this time. Norris finally got his first win of his career. I'm already excited to watch him in Imola. However this time Ferrari look likely to step forward. With the circulating big upgrades we can see really decent work by Leclerc - Sainz duo.

What do you think about William and Sauber, do you think that this team has more resources than Andretti who is backed by GM and Cadillac? We can't judge a team just because they are very new to this competition. Andretti is even prepared to pay a fee of $200 million just to enter this competition and they have already built a headquarters and various other things. So this is not a matter of budget whether they are ready or not to spend every year, but this is a matter of F1 competition which is not very sporty with teams who are not ready for the arrival of new teams into the competition.
I think they are already in and that is why they are there, otherwise Haas wouldn't even be a team. It is not about getting a team that is richer than Williams or Haas to join, it is about making sure that you have a rival for red bull and Ferrari and Mercedes.

Andretti is a great racing legend and I am sure that he would make a good F1 team, and to be fair f1 already accepted Audi to participate, which means that we are going to see a new team, if the problem was not being ready to accept new teams then why did they accepted Audi to join? We already even know that Sainz going to be racing for Audi in 2026, so the whole plan is in motion.

Andretti getting rejected must be something about what f1 wanted, not sure what it is, but the problem doesn't seem to be rejecting new teams since audi is there, I believe it is about financial situation, but if you think it is something else then it could be something else. Maybe they want some companies, mainly car companies, to join? They have seen teams like Williams and Haas who are racing teams and not companies fail, so they want audi type of thing. Like if Cadillac or GM joined themselves, maybe they would have accepted that?

New technical regulation for Moto GP from 2027 with an expected duration of five years.

I don't think the biggest change is that of cutting the engine displacement from the classic 1000cc to 850cc but that of the use of different fuels, so much can change in this case from how an engine uses fuel.

We also have new rules that limit the aerodynamics of motorcycles.

Several riders including Quartararo have already said that they don't expect many differences from the bikes with the power cut.

The machines will be a bit slower due to the downgrade in cubic centimetres (I think all manufacturers will quickly get to grips with the new petrol, as the situation is the same for all of them), and the changes or bans on aerodynamics could lead to more overtaking manoeuvres again, which of course makes the sport more interesting (for the spectator).

But let's wait and see, I don't expect any major changes to the manufacturers' positions.

The aerodynamics change are the things that impact the performance of the car and that is why the engineer of aerodynamics like Adrien Newey are so important and that is why that when such things change it is this man that makes a difference in the way the car is concepted and how it performs. If the change is gotten right from the engineer who will design the car the impact will be felt and the team that gets it right will most likely be the winner of the new seasons.

Super performing race again from Marquez, got past Bagnaia the last lap,he just needed just a couple of more laps again and would have taken out Martin too.Martin was making quite so many small errors and it was clear that he was very nervous during the last laps of the race.Marquez quite the opposite, brilliant riding without a single error and he took out the World Champion so easily in a track such technical,I understand him,he is getting as many points as he can as wins will come but when they come he needs to be in a good position and although he said he is not fighting for the Championship he is third now I think in the rankings,so he just needs to be patient. He had that Di Gianluiggi slowing him down otherwise I think he would have won this race.

Lets say there are couple more laps, Enea may even get closer to the top 3 riders and fight for the podium because as I can see that Enea was faster than the top 3 riders in few last laps. By the way, the race at le mans seems to be the best race so far although the real competition between the top 3 riders happened in 1-2 last laps only. Special appreciation for Marc Marquez who could repeat his achievement in the sprint race. Start the race from 13th but finished in 2nd on both Sprint Race and Main Race is something special. It was combination between skills and the bike, hope he can be consistent in the upcoming races until the season ends.

The real reason is that the budget thing. F1 is already dealing with a problem where there are some great teams like Ferrari, red bull, Mercedes and mclaren (along with aston getting better with strolls) but there are some horrible teams as well, and they know that if andretti joins, then he is not going to be able to spend 100+ million a year every year to be competitive, he just wants to be in, but nothing more.

What is the purpose of a team who would try to fight for not being the last team? I mean if Audi wants to join, they can, which they will, and they are capable of spending 100+ million a year on this, they have the budget for it and they are super wealthy and they have an income. F1 just doesn't trust that Andretti would do something like that.

What do you think about William and Sauber, do you think that this team has more resources than Andretti who is backed by GM and Cadillac? Since yesterday during the Sprint, Marquez looked extraordinary in finishing the race because he started from 13th position and managed to finish in second place. Likewise today, he also started from grid 13 and managed to finish second after successfully overtaking Bagnia at a fairly technical corner. However, I also have to praise Martin, who won the Sprint yesterday and also won the race today so that Martin can continue to create a points gap with Bagnaia in the current standings. Meanwhile, Bagnaia, who was leading the race today, couldn't maintain his consistency until the end of the race so he was only able to finish the race in third place.

There are still 4 more sprint events to come this season.

I think the remaining tracks are at least fitting a sprint race. For example Miami was a terrible choice for that. I really wonder whose idea it was.  Grin  The track is just too tight so it is very difficult to overtake. It must be like the most boring sprint race I have ever watched in F1 so far.

Some drivers like Verstappen even thinks sprint format is useless. Who knows maybe in the future the format would be removed or changed to make it more attracting.

30 minutes to go before the race at Le Mans, who will win the race today?
Marquez finished 2nd yesterday although he started from the 13th, can he do the same or better today or he will fail to compete for the podium today?
Pecco failed to finish yesterday in the sprint race and I think he will do all his best today so he will not lose more points.
Martin will also try to win the race so he can make the gap on the standings bigger.
Hard to predict but I think Martin will win if he can do a good start and not crashed during the race.

That shows that he will have a great potential to win this race and I am very much waiting for it to start right now, just 3 minutes to start.I think based on what I saw the last race I predict that Marquez to have real chances to win this race especially seeing yesterday sprint. If there is no guy like Bagnaia in front of him I see no difficulties for him to overtake anyone and I am waiting for his comeback win and for him to have a real chance to win the MotoGP again reminding us of his glorious times with Honda,he surely is a great rider and fully deserves it.Bagnaia will be attacking but in this track the rider skill is paramount and Bagnaia have overtaken from the outside which is extremely difficult.Let's see how it goes, formation lap on their way.
