great news: i found a whole core i3 system i forgot i had in storage! even had a gtx 650 ti still in it. also had a free slot i can stick a spare 750 ti into!

there's maybe a 15-20% chance the rig died though so i won't know until i can set it up this evening ☺

welp, there's good news and bad news. the bad news is the motherboard and/or cpu is dead. when powered on, the fans spin and the mainboard led lights for about 0.5 second then powers off. i tried 2 different PSUs, tried each stick of ram by itself, removed the motherboard from the case and sat on plastic case and had only cpu/ram with psu connected in case anything in the tower was shorting it. same thing each time, 0.5 second on the power off over and over.

but the good news is i also found a gigabyte Z68 socket 1155 motherboard in storage, so I bought a cheap i5 cpu for it on ebay and it should be good to go by late next week (hopefully)! i'm going to try running ubnutu server os from the msata slot on board with a 32gb ssd Cheesy

whether it could use a win7 bit 32 to execute the wallet?

we now have GUI wallets for Windows and Linux that will work on both 64-bit and 32-bit:

Any ideas on what causes the big jumps and dips in the price of Bipcoin?

I have a few trades set up to buy low and sell high, but I would not want my trades to adversely effect the price of Bips since this is mostly for fun

Don't avoid making trades to "protect" the price. Do what you want. This is commerce, not some pump & dump. We want BipCoin running for a long time, and that means it weathering actual markets.

We did a blog post, by the way, read the last part on buy orders. Mainly for anyone else, seems like you got it worked out.

the free market in a small market. Not unusual. Basically large cnanges are likely caused by buying and selling.

Percentage of fluctuation is large, but amount of fluctuation is not large. BipCoin price ranges from .3 cent to 1.5 cent. Bitcoin changes more than that from minute to minute.

I still solo mine when difficulty is at 2mil or lower, which it often gets.

Because of wild fluctuations in hash rate I mine opportunistically, hunting low hashrate periods and avoiding high ones

Are you trying to solo mine? Those days are long gone, my friend. With a current difficulty of 3.3 million and our network hash rate that fluctuates between like 10 Kh/s and 90 Kh/s, you'll need to pool mine:
https://bipcoin.org/?p=1162

let me know if both of these help.

Looks like you're using the old crappy version, .0003.

You need to update to .0004.

anyone using 0003 needs to update.

We just made an announcement post on our Bitcoin Faucets Forum for your coin:

http://faucetlove.com/viewtopic.php?f=163&t=362&p=440

Thank you for your service!

Did you make a faucet? I'd put a thousand bips to drip from a faucet if someone makes the faucet.

Thanks!

still updates but I rarely do - don't like rebooting. yeah it was a single incidence i thought i'd report it as a data point. relaunched and it minimized to systray like usual.

I said it in 1996 and I'll say it now:
