Shits getting real in here....

@ErebusBat -- indeed... wtf, I just got this message privately:

What the hell is happening to the seat price  Huh

People know there's others trying to sell. For example, everyone who is paying attention knows BMF is trying to liquidate 110 shares.

Rest assured, we've placed limit orders, and we'll just distribute the shares as value if they don't sell. I'm not so inexperienced a trader as to fall for the old "Oh, so you want to sell your shares" routine. It works like this: When a rich guy comes into the store, they rush out to meet him (to keep him busy) while the helpers in the back rush around changing all the price tags to more expensive ones ;-) In reverse, when you want to sell your shares and people know it, they suddenly don't feel like paying so much. It's supply and demand, baby.

^(re)Quoted for emphasis...

@usagi -- I marked in bold the bit I'm confused about... Does anyone know why ognasty is (figuratively) flailing arms around screaming STFU!!! about this? I'm just asking for simple clarification by someone who knows what you (usagi) meant by the specific language in the quote / comment.

I can explain what usagi means - and it has nothing to do with ognasty at all (i.e. he wasn't hiding anything, just didn't want usagi discussions in here).

Usagi is shutting down his companies.  What usagi's saying there is that if he can't sell the seats at what he thinks is a fair price he'll just give them to some of his investors as part of their final payment for their shares rather than sell them off cheap.  So instead of getting all cash some investors would get a seat (or multiple seats) + cash.

Nobody has special access to anything related to nastyfans except me. NOBODY. NOT EVEN OGNASTY.

usagi uses the same web interface all members use. usagi maybe uses words different than others. But usagi can not do anything special with the seats.

Members can sell seats.
Members can buy seats.
Members can request me to transfer seats to other members.

That is all that anyone can do. Even OgNasty.

nastyfans has a policy and I make sure it is followed. That is my job as president.

So please calm down everybody. Let us not go crazy right before the real fun starts when ASICs arrive.

Well... 'no comments' would sound much better OgNasty. We have to look after good PR right?

Let's leave usagi's fund mismanagement to his threads please. Smiley

@ognasty -- what? Now I'm even more confused... Either way, nobody was asking you:

...so please don't post more of these bullshit vague "don't worry about it, I don't feel like you should have questions or concerns, and I think it's fine" dismissive sentiments without any explanation. That's no way to communicate with fellow members of the bitcoin community.

You're doing what with ... who? ... what's happening to shares (seats) ?

That language scares me, could you please explain the specific words:

"...we'll just distribute the shares..."

... I really hope I'm misunderstanding, because that almost sounds like:

"if they're not selling fast enough, someone will intervene and shuffle things around"

nastyfans is not open to the public yet. So all buying and selling is seats moving between existing members now. nastyfans will be opened to the public after the claim process is over. That is when 7 days pass without any new claims. There are 136 unclaimed seats still.

central banking = outdated protocol
I've gotten a few PMs asking about why the hashrate varies so much.  As stated earlier, it is due to the way the pools calculate it.  I figured this picture might put some of you at ease.  We are indeed operating at nearly 7.3GH/s constantly with almost 0% rejects.

Biggups!  Recently went with cgminer after using phoenix for months myself and am very happy.  Just picked up another 25 seats to add to the pot at what I consider to be a great value.

and if you disappear?
We know you just as much as you know us.  Trust works both ways

laSeek asked a very important question here. It is important that you can be safe in case nastyfans disappears. For this I decide to implement the suggestion from ErebusBat.

Also a rather lower tech idea would be to have a daily updated PGP signed/hmac'd list of share distribution.

This would allow anyone to download it, but only certain trusted people would have the hmac key, allowing to determine who the shares actually belong to.

With each distribution a signed list of nastyfans account information will be posted. I submitted my key to pool.sks-keyservers.net servers.

Each member decides what information from the account will be posted. This is a new setting for your account. By default nothing is published about your account. If you choose to publish a identity field and the number of seats you own then you will be able to prove seat ownership if nastyfans disappears because the critical information is publicly available. I also add options for publishing username and if donations are accepted. This is not necessary for proofs. But maybe members want that information public.

I do not plan for nastyfans to disappear. But some times shit happens and I want us to be prepared.

I'm fine with a private sale of this nature as long as nonakip doesn't mind the oversight of it that's cool.  As a shareholder how does this harm me especially if they do a volume deal it prevents harming the last traded price as it is kept private.

I have no problem executing a requested seat transfer. But I am not police. If the buyer does not pay or the seller does not request a transfer it is not my problem. caveat emptor

The auction gives a medium where buyers and sellers must not trust each other. I agree that nastyfans members are all cool but that does not mean you can trust them.

I don't think this is possible. I thought all sales of "seats" need to to through the site.

There is no nastyfans policy requiring seats to be sold at online auction. The auction is a tool to help you. If I receive a signed message from a member asking to transfer N seats to another member I have no problems with that.

If other members have a problem with that I can start a poll to change policy requiring seat changes to occur in the auction.
No... I like it how it is right now.

I have several hundred shares I'm willing to part with for the right price.  Would like to sell privately in blocks of 100 shares minimum.  Please PM if interested.

Yes, to clarify, the transaction will have to go through the site in the end.
