I can start updating the @NastyMining twitter stream when NastyFans polls are announced. That shouldn't be a problem.

@nonnakip, a few suggestions:

1. Please, get a free SSL certificate from StartSSL.com for nastyfans.org. This self-signed business is rather unprofessional.

2. When a poll has been decided, close the voting or mark it as decided so people don't waste their time considering their vote after the poll is already closed.

3. Add an "end date" column to the poll overview (or simply change the start date to an end date).

4. Email or any other kind of notification of a new poll would also be appreciated.

The lottery tickets were distributed at approximately 19:10 (UTC) on 2013-01-14. If you become a member after this you have no tickets. If you do not see a lottery tickets block on your home then you have no tickets.

How does this lottery work? All 338 seats go to the winner? Or are there 2nd and 3rd prizes as well?

From the poll page on nastyfans:

Each lottery ticket is numbered. (1-24662)
The lottery tickets for a member are visible when the member signs in.
A program is used to choose winning lottery tickets.
The program uses the tx section of Bitcoin block details to choose winning tickets. The same tickets are chosen if the same Bitcoin block is used. nonnakip tested the program and the results are well distributed. Here is example output using block 213287.
The program is available as source code for all to see.
After lottery tickets are distributed a future Bitcoin block number is specified that is used for the lottery.
The first 338 ticket numbers chosen by the program are winners unless a ticket number appears more than once. Then extra ticket numbers are chosen. A lottery ticket can only win one seat.

The poll has already received >75% of the vote, so it looks like we will be going ahead with the seat lottery. I voted for the lotto because I wanted to see longstanding seat holders benefit from it, and going forward with this plan seemed the only way to make that happen before NastyFans opens to the general public.

Why not distribute the extra seats proportionally to the number of the seats owned by each nasty fan? I think it should be done exactly in the same way we distribute the donations.

Right now we have 103 members. So for your idea every member would get 3 seats and lottery with 29 seats. This is great for members with no seats. And maybe we have many more members after we open to the general public tomorrow so for new members it is really great.

If the current lottery poll does not succeed I will start a new poll with your idea.
