Updating my "donations" address gives the error above.. I've tried 2 addys now..

Can you change those awful post buttons (seriously - one form per button) to actualy url's?
Otherwise you end up with "confirm resubmission" when you try to go back on some pages..

You are probably running into the same problem I had. Try clearing out the pgp fingerprint data, so that the only data on your screen is your bitcoin address.

Sounds like your browser may have done it.

I am certain the browser did it. Autofill crap.

Yeah I agree ( I actually figured it out on my own while i was showering,  Tongue ). Anyway you could also change the name of the textboxes on the settings page from "password" and "fingerprint" to something like "oldpassword", and "fingerprint2" or something so that any autofill stuff won't apply after signing up and stuff. As I probably won't be the only one with autofill enabled in my browser. But that's just a suggestion.  Grin

what happens if i forget my password ?

If you forget your password but you have set a PGP fingerprint you can PM a signed message saying to reset your password. If you do not set a PGP fingerprint then do not lose your password.

i lose my dividends / (shares after 3 months) ?

This is in the policy. After 6 months you lose donations to you. After 9 months you lose your seats.

If you want you can say what the Bitcoin address is and I will tell you why it is invalid.
The address I'm using is 12PLkshcHDxtUVNe5DseNmA78ngwFZW6eN. Seems like a perfectly valid address to me.

Exactly. Forget about BTC and profits. We are now a non official fan club of OgNasty's mining operation. If you do not get it you cannot have fun. Grin
We are supporting him with donations. He sometimes donates something to us. That's how the fan club operates. It's about fun now. I am sure after a while you will like it Grin

heh..  I think Nasty is great - I think the fan club is a pile of steaming.. No offence but I'm not 12 - I don't want, and I don't have time to start scrap-booking.
I liked Nasty's op because he was one of the few that treated it as a business - he clearly defined what he was offering, how much it would cost and what you could expect back from it.

I just don't like being forced into interacting on something that shouldn't require any interaction

... it only gets better...
Ok - a dodgy email arrived claiming to come from Nasty's mining op and I pop here to find it's aparently legit and since the whole glbse mess - it appears a lot has changed with Nasty Mining..

Shares are now called seats?
Back dividends have now been used? and Nasty now holds onto the unsold shares?
With the purchase of new kit from our dividends - how does this reflect our ownership?  Originally wasn't one share equiv to x hash/s?

I understand your feeling uncomfortable with having a large chunk of btc in your wallet - but I've not seen any explanation yet as to how this will make our current ownership any more valuable.

I'm annoyed at having to fill in another damn website with a bunch of stuff, run by somebody I don't know and having to give out my info again.
I understand you wanna verify things - but it's not even Nasty that's verifying it - it's a 3rd party site that uses a self signed cert with some bogus reasons as to why (a) it's self signed and (b) it doesn't validate.

Now I'm forced into visiting a fan-club where I have to login frequently or I'll be kicked out of my shares/seat?

Clearly, not a fan of fun...

I'm trying to create an account on that page, but it's not working for me.

invalid bitcoin address

Any ideas?

Enter a different Bitcoin address. The transfer code is the important part.

If you want you can say what the Bitcoin address is and I will tell you why it is invalid.

I'm trying to create an account on that page, but it's not working for me. I'm using the IP address because my computer does not support .bit domains. The error I'm getting is this:

invalid bitcoin address
failed value test
invalid bitcoin address
invalid query
common.c:218

I'm using the address on the GLBSE list. It's been previously confirmed to be on the list. I don't know exactly how many shares I had, so I gave an estimate for that...

Any ideas?

I can't seem to set my address for donations on the settings page. I get this when I enter an address:

invalid pgp fingerprint
failed value test
invalid pgp fingerprint
invalid query
common.c:256

Did I miss something? As far as I can tell my fingerprint (username?) is fine.

The error says that the PGP fingerprint is invalid. PGP fingerprints are hexadecimal codes. Allowed characters are 0-9 a-f A-F.

If you do not know what PGP fingerprints are then you should keep it empty.

Thanks, I understand now, and was able to set my donation address.

FYI my confusion was a result of the settings page pre-filling my username into the PGP fingerprint textbox (my password is also pre-filled into the first of the two password textboxes). I might suggest not pre-filling any data on that page, as it all needed to be cleared out before I was able to successfully update my address. Or have individual save buttons for each of the 3 settings that can be changed on that page.

Also a rather lower tech idea would be to have a daily updated PGP signed/hmac'd list of share distribution.

This would allow anyone to download it, but only certain trusted people would have the hmac key, allowing to determine who the shares actually belong to.

I do not believe this is valuable. In the future we are open to the public. Any computer user can have a non-member account and buy seats to be a member. Maybe they setup many accounts. From a list you can not see what the real user distribution is.

And I think a list is not important. The important thing is you know how many seats you have and how many are total. The other seats are irrelevant to you.

When a donation is distributed the website shows how many seats are accepting donations. Then you can verify the donation to you is correct. I think that is enough.

What is the password character limit?

63 characters long.

Allowed characters are ascii code 32 to 126. This is all visible characters on a USA keyboard.

I keep getting a warning on the security certificate of the https.... on .bit as well as the I.P. address

Noticing the same on my end - but OgNasty gave his blessing so I'm fine with it in the interim.

It is a self-signed SSL certificate. The SSL-world is evil if you want it to be "official" because you must have regulated domains. We are using the Namecoin .bit domain.

You can add the certificate to your browser and the warning will stop. The important thing here is the data is encrypted. It is.

If someone guesses your password then it is your problem. Choose a good password.
