If someone doesn't wish to have a token that represents their NEM stake, is their NEM stake still secured, and when are they likely to receive their NEM stake?
If you are on that stakeholder list, it is secured. 2/3 of all stakes will not be put as tokens on AE anyway. Mine as well :-D
When the official release comes (it still hasn't been announced), first those on that stakeholder list will receive their NEMs. 2 weeks after, people who bought the tokens on AE will be able to change them for NEMs.

how much more expensive is it to buy it off the asset exchange, comapred to when it was released?
It wasn't released yet...
That will probably happen at some point in August or September.
Right now all people can do is trade tokens which represent NEM stakes on the Nxt Asset Exchange which can be turned into NEM as soon as it is released.

I expect it to go to $50m at least within the first 6 months.
10 times of 5 million? no way!!!
It should be 100 times with 500 million in total. Please dont think it is impossible because nothing is impossible.
Definitely not after the first six months! Maybe after 1-2 years.
Even though I really hope that will happen in the first six months, I like to stay somewhat realistic with my predictions

I'm impressed very much when not-existing coin that was purchased 1 000 000 for 0.05 BTC traded for 1 BTC just in few months..
Hope DEVELOPERS implement interactive NEM worldmap, where anyone who accept NEM will be displayed on it. Also some skype analogue is very important.
If i can use map, call and pay with NEM-wallet application from my mobile phone, it is AWESOME !

NXT now is only $60m. Considering whales with millions in cold wallets its its $30m.
Realistic value $5-10m imho.
The whale issue is what has held NXT back. If it didn't have that hanging over it then I'm sure it would be far, far higher than it is today.

can a dev confirm if its 2.0 or 3.0 generation?
I think there are no solid definitions of 2.0 or 3.0.
NXT called itself 2.0 which I think started the whole "generation" fuzz but I'm not sure there are actuall definitions.
If we see non-POW coins as 2nd gen then NXT was by no means the first 2nd gen (unless we only count 100% non POW coins and no hybrids). If we see transparent forging as 2nd gen then any other advanced feature could be 2nd gen as well so there is no way to tell where 3rd gen starts (leaving aside the fact that transparent forging is afaik not yet implemented).
I think if POI works as intended then it could be considered 3rd gen as it would be another improvement over the existing algos.
So it would be...
POW -> POS -> POI
...which would make sense to me but again...hard to say.
Could also be POW -> POW/POS -> POS -> POI.
Asking me I think the whole generation question is a huge amount of bs. Who cares ?
I totally agree with you patmast3r, and I think the point for a new coin is not 2.0 or 3.0 because there is no clear defination of 2 or 3. The major point for NEM is it provides an increasing number of different functionality, new ideas, new applications which could support sustainable development and evolvement of NEM.

There is no online wallet with asset exchange fully implemented yet.
