can a dev confirm if its 2.0 or 3.0 generation?

I think there are no solid definitions of 2.0 or 3.0.
NXT called itself 2.0 which I think started the whole "generation" fuzz but I'm not sure there are actuall definitions.
If we see non-POW coins as 2nd gen then NXT was by no means the first 2nd gen (unless we only count 100% non POW coins and no hybrids). If we see transparent forging as 2nd gen then any other advanced feature could be 2nd gen as well so there is no way to tell where 3rd gen starts (leaving aside the fact that transparent forging is afaik not yet implemented).

I think if POI works as intended then it could be considered 3rd gen as it would be another improvement over the existing algos.
So it would be...

POW -> POS -> POI

...which would make sense to me but again...hard to say.

Could also be POW -> POW/POS -> POS -> POI.

Asking me I think the whole generation question is a huge amount of bs. Who cares ?

how much more expensive is it to buy it off the asset exchange, comapred to when it was released?

You mean when people reserved stakes?  For me: 125000%

So they are twenty times more, and there's nothing released yet......

It's not like a person turned 10 BTC to 12,500 BTC. There was a maximum amount of BTC you could invest into the initial IPO. Taking that into consideration, an original stakeholder would only have a maximum gain of about 2 BTC at current prices. Nobody has turned into a millionaire overnight.

how the hell is that going to work?Huh?? theres nothing to send to nxt-e lol

I guess they must have some kind of integration of the AE i.e. you use nxt-e website to buy assets and they use the API to actually make the trades on the AE.

Yup. And this tells you something about NEMs market potential.
If you think it's overvalued, don't buy. And maybe get left beside the road when it takes off at launch.
This is a decision every investor has to make for himself.

The Open Alpha is scheduled on 6/25. Let's the countdown begin. We will be inviting selective users into the closed Alpha testing starting in a couple of days. The priority goes to helpers/ volunteers who are in the Trello board or answer the volunteer survey earlier so there is no need to sign up now. Thanks.

On behalf of the NEM dev. team.

It wasn't released yet...
That will probably happen at some point in August or September.

Right now all people can do is trade tokens which represent NEM stakes on the Nxt Asset Exchange which can be turned into NEM as soon as it is released.

Here you can see the price chart from the asset exchange http://nxtblocks.info/#section/assets_exchange/12465186738101000735

It will definitely be more expensive once it's released and is on exchanges. How much more? Hard to say. That will all depend on dumpers.

Looking to buy NEM, have they already been issued?

Not yet but you can buy a NEMstake from stakeholders at the NXT asset exchange.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/nem-nemstake-tokens-are-listed-on-nxt-asset-exchange-616467

After you have bought a stake (Maximum of 2), you can exchange it with the NEM devs 2 weeks after the official launch of NEM.

1 stake is equal to 1 million NEM.
