In my opinion, in order not to lose their coins when they move to their own blockchain, it is best to store them on the official wallet from the developers, or on the largest exchanges, for example, Binance. Usually, large exchanges support the transition of coins to a new blockchain or during a hard fork.

Its a bad practice, i mean with so many coins and tokens there is nothing you can do but forget. So can't this swap procedure be automated and the people holding the coins can have swap automatically. There must be a much easier, convenient and automated solution for that.

A very good example for bounty hunters. Because I think a lot of people might face this kind of situation. You just need to keep a table with the data and write all the information there. I would try not to keep a large number of different coins and try to trade.

It is imperative to keep track of the coins you have, all the more so for those whose price can soar as quickly as it drops to the bottom.
Constantly monitoring your investment assets you do not miss the moment when you need to sell them profitably at the highest price. Good luck with that.

That's so painful, 0.3btc is a lot if money. But I think you would still have it if you keep track of you altcoins.
I personally have a spreadsheet I use to keep track of my altcoins and I review them every month. You can also adopt this.

quite concerned about what you have experienced, this can be an example for all of us to be careful when choosing altcoins. I myself don't want to experience losses, so I prefer altcoins that are already popular than having to buy a new altcoin.

So, as you guys know, most coins will do swap when they perform blockchain upgrades or changing the coins to to a new coin

I just forgot about one of my coins and the swap was ended in the 31st of December
and guess what?

I just lost 0.3 btc because of it
God damn this is so painful

Been holding the coins since 2 year ago in the ICO stage
Never make such mistake guys remember

0.3 BTC is indeed not small and certainly it is very painful indeed. What's more, it has been held for around 2 years. Keep the spirit of your friends, From your experience story we will learn in the future so we don't have many coins. If one day swaps and we forget. That will be detrimental indeed.

That's one of the problem when you are buying a lot of coins. It is difficult to be updated on all the news about your assets and investments. That's why it is better if you will only hold and invest on number of coins you know you can be updated. Most coins are updating since most are having their own block chain.

I am sure it is difficult to follow all projects. Too many of them. Replace wallets. Replace coins. Many different nuances. I'm sure. As though we were attentive, it was not our first loss and not the last.

Not too many coins were worth to invest anyway,so better keep you diverfication into limits, too much of it also will causes more losses. If you are a real investor you will follow the project all the way so no chance to miss the swap or something like that, deep research and invest.

To avoid that cases just a simple journal should be. I made simple table with count of all my alts and periodical API requests to CMC or Exchanges to track the portfolio amount and to know how much I lost  Cheesy

in my opinion this is your own fault for not following the development of the project, actually I also have lots of coins but I always keep up with developments every week so if they swap, I'm not late

Yes, it's very insulting. Any amount to lose a shame, even the smallest, but about a large amount and say nothing. Of course you need to keep track of the coins that are in your wallet.

I also encountered a similar situation. I lost thousands of dollars because I didn't know my currency was being listed the exchange and traded at high prices. When I knew it, the price of that money was greatly reduced. I repeat this situation more than 6 times and now I don't have time to update another currency, even though I know it was announcement almost 3 weeks ago. My own lesson: '' Invest when you can manage it''.

come on ...
if we want to get a large profit is not normal if you buy in large quantities. Your mistake is that you don't do analysis. Don't be wise in managing the money you have.

That has happened to me once, a coin I was participating in, and they eventually changed the coin. But I later figured it out. I’m not going to make such a mistake again. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t go too much on altcoins, they are very disappointing and anything can happen. Best is to stay with the top coins, they are most promising. Play your games well and you wouldn’t regret doing so.

Im sorry about your loss. If someone decides to keep a large amount of coins, he should also be able to manage them.
One way is to have a spreadsheet with a list of coins and update the information about them at least once a month.
With this experience that you have shared about coin value losses , this might help as a guide for other members or investors for tgem to manage their stock coins to dispose it at the best time , so that it will avoid value loses in the future to come during changing, selling or trading of coins in the market.
