From your post gambling is something evil and people should keep away from it. However you are promoting that evil in your signature. Do you think it absurd then? Life will put everything in its place anyway. Check out famous criminals profile on wiki, in only few cases their parents were connected with criminals, so "like father, like son" does not work with 100% probability. Do whatever you want, but when your kid grows up, if he thinks that gambling is a good opportunity to make money, he will gamble. No matter if you hide gambling activity or not.

That's good if kids not involve into gambling because they already gets information from their parents that gambling can gives bad impacts to their lives so they will not gets into gambling. Their parents just shows the bad impact to their kids because they see many kids involve in gambling and makes their lives ruin because of gambling.
They don't wants to see their kids lives ruins too so they always guides their kids in the right track and makes sure that their kids really stay away from gambling. They will not shows to their kids when they playing gambling because they don't wants their kids follows what they do.
Parents can sits together with their kids and talk each other to have a warm relationships and makes they have a closer relationships. But the fact is not many parents can do this because many parents have busy with their works so they don't have much time with their kids.
That can makes their kids feels alone and will gets closer with their friends which can gives a bad impact to them. Parents can't educate their kids with right if their kids is not closer to them and their kids will have a rebellion to their parents and makes things worst.

Correct. Children are very intelligent little professors and learn new things very quickly, including what they see their parents doing. Children like to experiment and observe their parents' behavior in all matters, both bad and good, and unfortunately, sometimes as parents we do not fully understand our children, so we consider playing gambling in front of our children as trivial, even though This has a big influence on their mindset in the future.

Gambling is something dangerous if not supervised properly. It is true, gambling does not affect children's health but it does affect their finances and future behavior. Just look at people who are addicted to gambling, the impact on their lives is very serious, some even become criminals and some commit suicide because of gambling. So it's best as a parent not to gamble in front of your child, if you don't want your child to become a gambler too. Yes although on the other hand I'm sure that parents would never teach something negative to their children but actually a child can learn anything without having to be taught or directed by their parents which means that even if for example you don't teach your child about something negative but if for example they see you doing that activity then it is possible for them to imitate what you are doing which in addition parents are the image that a child often follows in any case.

This means that this is the reason why it is much better to do everything out of the reach of a child, or in other words if you want to gamble or do anything negative then try to be away from where your children are, as you said above that we can gamble when they are asleep or gamble when a child is going to school and I think this is not a hard idea to do, so I think there is no reason for any defense in this matter, and the point is that if you still gamble in front of children then you do not care about their future safety.

Instead of arguing if parents should gamble in front of kids or not, better fight against parents smoking in front of children. That is the thing that is really addictive and easy to get addicted to. And compared with gambling, it has done more harm. Nobody smoke for fun or to get emotions. Nobody set limit of cigarettes they can afford to smoke daily. If we compare smoking and gambling, gambling would be a trifle. When kids stand near gamblers, they dont become passive gamblers and get zero health damage.

I think with "Never gamble in front of your kids." we are fighting wrong enemy. We have selected weakest or the one that does little harm, and just talk bla-bla-bla about our imaginations and possibilities of addiction.

Gambling doesn’t make parents horrible but it can make the children lives miserable. You may be underestimating the power of gambling if you don’t see this, and wrongfully exposing your children to things they shouldn’t know about. And eventually they may know about what that is, etc. we should be careful what we let our kids learn because when they are young, it’s easier for them to fall for traps.

the truth is that it's actually very deficult to engage in gambling activities without our children knowing about about it and if we're being honest, while we were much younger, there were a lot of things out parents engaged in thinking we didn't know about it but we all saw it and pretended as if we didn't only to go back and engage in those things. To some extent, a child that will engage in gamble will engage in gamble wether you hide your gambling habit from him or not, and it's not as though gambling in itself is outrightly wrong but it's just that at a tender age hey might not be emotionally matured enough to go into it as so I feel that the best we can do for them is to guide them through the process, ask them what they know about it and paint a narrative that tend to make them see the effect of being an addicted gamblers which will play a great role in discouraging them from picking interest in it. We forget that just by watching football with our small kids, thier is an high tendency that they understand how sports betting works and that if they have there ways, it wouldn't take time before they start getting involved in it. I now somany young boys in my street that started gambling at a tender age because the guys in the street and obvious gamblers and so as a parents, while you're looking out for ways to ensure your gambling habit doesn't entangle your child into getting involved in gambling at an early age, it's also necessary you know that what they see and observe from your surrending could turn them into chronic gamblers without your knowledge.

We must understand that children are like sponges, they can absorb everything they see or hear without us knowing and usually we are quite surprised when we see them who can already do something without knowing when they learned it and like you said that a child cannot be blamed because they still cannot distinguish between good and bad, the point is that if they are interested in something they see or hear then usually they will learn it themselves.

A child will not know that gambling is a prohibited activity because it is dangerous, and the point is that if they see that the activity is done by adults then they will assume that it is okay to do or follow. Indeed, they just following what they are seeing around I guess the only thing that you can do if you really don't want to see any imitations from your kids is to prevent doing things that will gain their attentions, especially now where gambling is just like a normal game where it easily attracts attentions to young kids,

don't do anything that will create interest and will give you pain in the butt when time comes that your kids already learning the process and start using your device to play.

Right. Children are not to blame for copying the behavior of their parents. It's also not their fault that they constantly want to learn something new. Even if it's something bad like gambling. Even teenagers who seem like grown-up children still copy their parents. What they see is immediately remembered and stored in memory. In fact, by our actions we are writing their life story. Accardo, do you have kids? If you do, have you tried gambling in front of them? I see that you have mentioned that kids spend a lot of time in their room. I have mentioned that before but a bit differently. It is hard to get kid out from their room or space, to spend time with adults. Kids are not much interested what adults do at home. Trust me. They would better stay out of parents sight, so parents wont load them with work. I am pretty much sure, if you and your friends start gambling in main room, kids will only come to look what you are doing and then run away doing their stuff. As they are actually busy all the time. They dont have much time to spend with parents. Instead, you have to fight for their attention today.

P.S. What disadvantages they will have after seeing parents gamble? Please dont mention addiction. It is not a proven fact that they will be addicted.

Despite the aggressive publicity on gambling around every environment lots of people still don't engage into gambling, due to the type of training given to them by their parent. Unfortunately, some parents tell their kids ill things about gambling which scare them away from the act. It helps but it's not right to tarnish the image of gamblers in your kid's presence. However, parents who gamble around their kids, also, are not getting things right because of the disadvantages this will cause in future on the children. We all need to draft a specific time for gaming especially when the kids are sleeping or away from the house. I don't seem to understand why some players gamble openly.

Does it mean their rooms are not enough for gambling. Kids are mainly trained to spend time in their own room or the sitting room. They rarely stay in their parent's room. It's always okay for a dad or mom to gamble in their private rooms for the safety of the children. While, still, educating them on the needs to stay clear from gambling and how rough it could be for young people. Especially with kids today that know how to tinker with technology. They have smartphones now and they have access to the internet. I was actually shocked just a few weeks ago when I heard my 5 years old using the voice thing to find something on YouTube. I didn't even know that. It will be bad if they see their parents doing something awful like gambling and they will also try to search for the name of whatever game they are playing. I don't want to happen.
As much as possible, my gambling time is when they are at school or they are already sleeping. It works for me because I work mostly at night. Only my wife knows about what I do and even if I win it's only her that will know about it and she will just tell the kids that we will go out because Daddy has money. 
It's better that way, make them innocent of bad habits as long as possible until they can really understand what is happening and they will make their own decisions on what they should do.

If a wrong action of the parents is imitated by the children, the children consider that action as right because they think that everything their parents do is right. And if at that time a parent discusses gambling issues or they gamble then the initiates are encouraged to do so. I have seen some children who try to do what their parents like to do so that their parents are happy with them. If father wants to playing gambling, he do not have to shows his gambling activity in fronts of his children. That will gives their children experiences of gambling and the desires to try gambling with their friends.

But it works in the same way according to many. That "possible" and "might" turns into obligatory. There are parents whos idea is to teach kids investing as early as possible, so they wont miss opportunity to buy "potential next big thing" (like bitcoin) for 1 dollar, and sell it later for 65k (like same bitcoin). On the other hand people say that newbies should learn to trade/invest/dyor. How come kids do that? No how. So they are pushing kids on something impossible. The monopoly is just an instrument of teaching. Like playing blackjack to kill time, while it parallel teach them to count till 21. In the end we get monopoly suited for kids and gambling strongly not.

Yeah, I agree, that's just annoying to watch, and hardly it gives kids any valuable lessons. Rather, they think "when I grow up I will be able to beat all the kids around in any game too!".

I hope you realize that I didn't that kind of game. What I meant was playing a casino game, online or land-based one, in front of your kid in order to show him that it's easy to lose a lot of money in a short period of time, and that wins happen much less often than losses, stuff like that.


Monopoly is different because of the pace of the game, first of all. Anyone who ever played this game knows that there's no rush, you can take your time to think about your next move. I think it's possible that because of playing Monopoly some kids might grow up addicted to trading and lose money later, but it's very unlikely.

as heads of household it is important for them to be able to set a good example to their children, and therefore if a head of household is a gambler, they must be able to keep various things related to gambling away from their children. there are many ways they can do this, such as gambling in a more private place, keeping devices used for gambling away from children, and not discussing the problem of gambling at home. they can do these things to keep the bad effects of gambling away from their children.
